Rose smoothed out the napkin, making sure it covered all the fabric of her
dress that was on her lap. It was too pretty to ruin, and she had made the firm decision earlier in the night to allow nothing to stop her from having a piece of cake. Call it a pity treat, because she usually ate very healthy, but after experiencing two weddings in two days with no semblance of a boyfriend, Rose felt she deserved it.
Not to say that she was upset or angry with Carys and Drake, or especially Danielle and Donovan. She was elated her best friend had finally married the man she knew she wanted to for years, and simply shocked that Carys had decided to invited her at all. It was good! But she was allowed to feel a little down in the back of her mind. Maybe a little bit jealous. But that was all!
She was just that kind of a person that experienced things later in life than normal. Relationships, career... sometimes she just got so wrapped up in something and then---- Rose blinked, Thomas' voice knocking her out of her own thoughts. Looking up from her hands, she tilted her head to the side. "Thank you," she smiled lightly. "I think we both look very nice, especially concerning we were in a completely different time zone this time yesterday."
Rose turned in her chair, pulling her plate of cake with her on the table to face Thomas better. As she spoke she dug her fork into the dessert. "Did you enjoy Hawaii?"
