EVERYONE! PARTY THREAD
Running her fingers through the folds of her dress, Glenda let no pleat or invisible lint go unattended to as she sat. Her dress was far too beautiful for those kinds of blemishes, and the task had proven to be a manageable distraction that was getting her through the rest of the night until it was professionally and socially acceptable to leave.

Oh, that sounded horrible. She really shouldn't be so unwilling to attend her own party. The WWN had really outdone itself, inviting practically the whole of the Wizarding World to help 'welcome her back' to Britain's airwaves. The network had been more than happy to accept her back when she (Sturgis) had contacted them, but had made no mention of something like this until last week after everything had been finalized. All she had asked for was her job back, but apparently her celebrity status had grown substantially with her absence and things like this had become necessary.

She had spent the first good part of the party clutching tightly onto Sturgis' arm, feeling not only uneasy but lost as witch after wizard continued to appear in front of her, asking questions, telling jokes and attempting to have ernest conversations with the woman of the hour. It felt strange having so many familiar faces and names rushed back upon her, and many times already she had wished she was her formal self. If this had been three years ago, Glenda knew she would have chatted up the entire room already instead of giving half-empty smiles, dutiful nods and soft answers.

Now, though, Sturgis had long ago left her side. A tactic she knew no doubt had been purposefully planned down to the minute. It had generated the same feeling within Glenda when he had shown up an hour early before this whole thing started, asking if she minded escorting him, and then offering to drop Tristan off at her Aunt and Uncle's to ensure that she would have enough time to get ready because she hadn't even gotten dressed yet. She knew he was only trying to help with her readjustment process, which made her love, and hate, him more because of it.

Letting out a quiet sigh, Glenda looked up to catch glimpses of the party from outside. Her aimless wandering had lead her to party's outside grounds, a rather nice garden area with sparkling lights and nearby fountain. A few people were nearby, but she didn't mind much. The atmosphere reminded her of Italy.

OOC: soo it's safe to assume Gleny basically knows everyone, WWN would've made sure all friends were here LOL and if she didn't, all famous people were invited anyway so YAY

She really did believe him. Carys didn't know what was coming over her, because her mind was shouting that she believed him, because Drake had never lied to her before. He was always very honest, sometimes too honest with things that most people liked to sugarcoat with her. Carys knew that was why she liked being with him so much, because she could get a true, real answer and response to all the things she did.

"Yeah, I'm---" Weepy? Emotional? Merlin, he must have whacked her out completely because she never got like this, even at that time of the month. Carys laughed a shaky laugh and wiped at her eyes, "I guess the idea of you with someone else got me a little..." Carys smirked up at him, not really wanting to say the word, but having this conversation would be pointless if she wasn't honest with him, right? "Maybealittlejealous."

Her quick blurt made her laugh, and Carys felt a million times better after finally getting it out. She was jealous! Drake was a good looking man, a famous, popular, good looking guy, so of course there would be women after him, and why shouldn't she be jealous? That was a natural, normal emotion. Nothing to be embarrassed about. Absolutely nothing!

"You want to see how jealous?" she said with another laugh, nearly falling into a fit of giggles. Carys pulled into her purse, glad that it was one of those charmed on the side ones so she could fit everything in there, and tugged on the first satin-feeling thing she could grab. She pulled out the knickers (they were clean, remember? Straight from the laundry), but she pulled them out a bit too hard and something else dropped to the floor and of course landed between Drake's feet.

How could she have forgotten that she had box with a diamond-studded ring just lying in her purse?

Carys put a finger up, turning bright red. "That was in my drawer." That was the truth! Though...maybe he just hadn't known she'd taken over the drawer. "I didn't open it."

That was a lie, but. She needed to save some face.

Drake gave Carys a slightly nervous laugh, covered by a long drink. If she was freaking out like this, in public, who knew what was going on in her mind. She was usually a little bit spastic, but not to this extent. Maybe she was just nervous about being out in public, Drake thought, wondering a little why she was jealous at all. Of course, that's what putting labels on things did, made people possessive and jealous and although it wasn't like Carys didn't have her own fair share of fans, they were just a little stranger and who in their right mind would try to intimidate Drake anyway? There wasn't a soul who could.

"How jealous," Drake asked with a bit of a laugh, holding his hand out to her elbow to make sure she didn't fall over. If she was having another bout of dizziness, this could all be explained away, but maybe she was just being her crazy self. Of course she was, Drake laughed a little bit as she pulled out the underwear and shook his head. Only Carys would stuff someone else's underwear into her purse and bring it to the biggest media event since they'd put the labels on this whole thing.

And then of course there was that little box. Drake had been in mid reach for the underwear to stuff it back into her purse with a joking laugh, but when he saw that, his face went a little white. Pale even, Drake wasn't usually someone that was shaken too much, but this was a little too much. He looked slowly down at the box, knowing what he did next was probably the most important ever. Of course Carys had looked in it, she was that kind of a person, he wasn't going to hold that against her though. He had only a few moments to make up his mind, but it felt like those seconds stretched forever. He had hidden it in that drawer, so that he wouldn't have to look at it, he didn't use it much, just a few old things that he didn't have the heart to get rid of.

As to why? Well he'd bought it on a whim, planning to do it before, dragging Carys out with the question of labels and what are we and surprising her, but she'd seemed so content and happy with that, Drake figured it could wait. But was it worth getting mad at her for snooping in a drawer, in a place he'd let her in and really he'd bought it for a purpose. And well, they wouldn't have to go through all the trouble of the media speculation either.

Drake crouched a bit, setting his drink down and scooping up the box containing his own designed ring in one quick movement. Instead of straightening up, he gave a tug on his pantlegs, shifting to one knee and smirking up at Carys, "You haven't have you?" he asked, amusement apparent in his voice as he cracked open the box. "So, I was thinking you should do something crazy and marry me."

"Ah--" A croaked sound came out of her throat at the sight of Drake down on one knee, and Carys put her hands to her head, completely---just----he was proposing, Drake was proposing, as in he had a wring and actually suggested she marry him and holy shit this was the weirdest and best night of her life, "Yeah, I mean--yeah, yes, yeah!"

There wasn't really much to think about, was there? Drake was the person who'd helped her recover from what could have been a career-ending injury. He'd been the one to push her like no one had before, and he'd stuck around even after she got the seal of good health. Carys could never put into words how much she depended on his support, and would probably have been knocked down to second rung-Chaser if she'd let her spiral of depression get the best of her this summer. She'd been going nowhere and when she was with Drake she could see a future.

Carys nodded to emphasize her acceptance, jumping in place as she stuck out her hand. Part of her wanted to keep this moment frozen in time, just amazed that even with this banquet hall full of people, it felt like it was just her and Drake. She hadn't heard a camera bulb flash, she didn't hear whispers or shouts, no one was paying attention to the most wonderful thing to ever happen to her and it was brilliant.

She could stay like this forever, but then the ring was on her finger. It was dazzling, but even more so was the fact that Drake had picked it out for her and wanted her to wear it. She'd never felt so sure about anything, and Carys captured him in a kiss the second began to stand up. Her arms clung around his neck, her feet pulling off the ground because she just did not want to let him go. Carys grinned against his mouth,

"My place or yours?" she asked with a laugh, kissing him again.
