At least he was admitting that something was wrong rather than insisting that nothing was wrong -- that got old extremely fast. She furrowed her brows when he started to tell her what was wrong and then faltered. If she was honest, she was a bit relieved that he wasn't going to just blurt out to her exactly what was wrong with him. They hadn't known each other very long, and she could still cling to the hope that he'd just be someone fun to be around for a few more moments, at least.
When he looked to her hand, though, she couldn't help the snort. "Are you for real, Darien? I wasn't going to bring it up if you didn't, but it's certainly not a glove."
She felt the sudden compulsion to finish the rest of her drink and then turn back to him, eyes only a tad sharp. "Did you honestly not notice it before, or are you just being irrationally mean?" She really hoped it was the former and not the latter, since she had actually started to like him.
