Drake!
Carys had a lot of weird things going on right now. Like--really weird things. First and foremost, she had a real-life boyfriend and that was
so weird because she was pretty sure she hadn't had one since Hogwarts, or was it---whenever she'd dated Stubby Boardman for those two wild and crazy months. But she liked Drake enough to want to be around him a lot, and he seemed to be able to tolerate her 90% of the time which was more than she could say about most people.
Secondly, she'd been having these terrible headaches after matches and practice, and as a result had been
retching into one of the private loos for the past three weeks. Carys couldn't help but connect the dots on her own---her old injury was coming back to haunt her, and even though the healers had given her the go-ahead, she was still experiencing symptoms when she flew. It was terrifying to think that she
wasn't fully healed, and that maybe she'd never really get to fly without getting sick again.
So those two things had had her mind in quite the tizzy these past few weeks. Drake was somewhere around here, as even though Knightley had opened her big fat mouth about their relationship, most people didn't seem to put the clues together. Drake in particular did not care about what the tabloids said, and Carys was getting better at ignoring them because he always gave her this
look when she mentioned something she'd read.
BUT THIRDLY, thirdly, and most importantly she'd just come back from Drake's flat because she'd forgotten a pair of earrings there, but she'd come back with a bit more than that. In her constant craziness, somehow Carys had noticed a bright pink pair of lacy knickers sticking out of Drake's laundry, knickers that were most definitely not hers. It took everything inside of her not to freak out and blast the flat apart, but she gave him the benefit of the doubt---she had a pair like that, maybe, no she was sure that hers----she had begun to dig in the drawer she had slowly started to take over (to keep her mess separate from his freakishly neat things!), and in her digging found----well, it
couldn't be, because Drake wouldn't have---no, he'd never---this was Drake
Parkin she was talking about here---
Carys nearly fell out of her heels as her elbow was lightly touched and she snapped her purse shut, effectively hiding the ring box she'd found in Drake's dresser. Merlin's saggy left---he was going to kill her.
