Using Erin and the new babies as a cover, Nate offered to take care of his kids for the afternoon. In reality, he had a few short hours to put together plan he'd been working on for more than a month. While babysitting his own kids usually wasn't an issue, trying to get them all packed and ready to go in the short time that they had while Bree was out of the house and keeping them entertained gave Nate a great appreciation for what Bree did all day. He could handled a bunch of new recruits and deal with nose wiping, but coordinating three children, someone to take care of the pets and watch the house (thankfully his brother had agreed to show up and do that) was just about breaking Nate's patience. He heard Bree's voice before he saw her, and Nate shouted the 'magic' words. The kids appeared from upstairs, giggling as they helped each other down carefully, Nate following behind them carefully holding the baby.

Grinning, they all lined up holding hands in front of several sets of luggage and waited for Bree to notice everything. Nate fussed a bit with Phillip in the weird strap on carrier his mother had bought them but the infant seemed to not care too much. "Welcome home! We have a surprise for you!" Nate said, sounding a little breathless and looking a little more worse for the wear, "First, you have to run upstairs and change, you need to match us," he instructed, pointing out that each of the boys had shorts and sandals on, Emily was wearing a sundress and they all had sun hats or ball caps on, "We've got twenty minutes before we leave," he said holding up a broken clock as the portkey. He'd explain to her later everything but right now it was all about fun. "And I'm going to need help because Scott had my wand and I can't find it so the bags aren't shrunk."

Bree had been cooing all day at Ruby and Rosalie, just cooing at how small and beautiful and tiny those little angels were. New babies were a dangerous thing, to Bree Dawlish, and even though Phillip had just been born this past January, seeing her new nieces (and seeing Milo and Rocco be such good big brothers!) gave her that familiar itch that could only be cured by a nine month bump in the road. She would try to suppress it though, giving herself until Phillip was at least a year before honestly pursuing another child. She'd always told herself she'd have three children, and with Scott it was almost as if she'd had one for free. Why waste the desire, hm?

"I've brought pictures," she'd called out upon entering the house, simply over the moon from the visit. Bree didn't have the chance share the photos as her family lined up like good little troops, dressed quite accordingly for a trip to the park? Or something along those lines. Bree's eyebrows rose as Nate gave the orders---instructions for whatever surprise he may have been planning. Bree had definitely not been expecting this, and eyed her husband carefully as she slowly passed by him and up the stairs to their bedroom.

It only took a few minutes to get ready because Emily was quite the fashionista and had managed to pull out of her closet a few choice summer dresses and lay them haphazardly on the bed. Bree picked out a white dress, figuring that it would make whatever surprise Nate had planned even more special if she managed to keep any stains off of her skirt. She descended the stairs and tugged on her hat, standing on the last step to remain at eye-level with her husband.

"Where to, Captain?"

"Wand? Can you, uh, summon it, I tried but he must have hidden it somewhere that I couldn't get it with my charm," Nate said, pretending to be ashamed. An auror bested by a seven year old, wouldn't that be the top story? He could usually locate his wand within minutes, it was sort of a game he and Scott played but at this point he needed it before they left, and well, it was actually tied to a gift, set up to fly with the wand when she summoned it. Nate reached down to tousle Scott's hair who giggled and covered his mouth with a hand to keep the bit of secret. When the wand came flying, a small jewelry box was attached to it, very inexpertly wrapped by both the children. Nate had picked out a necklace let the kids have a choice in wrapping it and hoped that Bree would be surprised. He had been planning the portkey for awhile, the rest had only come together in the past week and really he'd decided to make it a game with the kids. "You should go ahead and open it," he said, subtly checking his watch to make sure they had enough time and that he could shrink everything.

She certainly was getting spoiled today, wasn't she?

Bree wouldn't complain, of course, and let out a small gasp that the sight of the beautiful necklace. Oh, three little stones for her three little loves. She looked down at her two oldest, who were just beaming with pride. Bree wondered how long they had been in on her husband's surprise, but she wouldn't doubt that Scott and Emily had managed to keep secrets for Nate for quite some time. They were good kids, but her Slytherin qualities had definitely rubbed off on them.

She had absolutely no idea where Nate was taking them, but she hoped it was for more than the afternoon. They hadn't had a family holiday since...well, they'd been a family! The war had caused so much grief and stress upon the Dawlishes that it had been hard to find time to be happy, so Bree was more than grateful that Nate had seemed to manage something for all of them.

"It's beautiful," she breathed, taking one more look at the necklace before shutting it; she wanted Nate to put it on her and she had to wait for him to finish with the luggage, "What did I do to deserve all this?"
