Adrian!
It was the last Friday of the preseason and Maggie desperately wished that her 'holiday' could have stretched out just a few more days. Maybe another week, or a month, just as long as she didn't have to get on the pitch and have to be photographed by those thousands of people watching, just waiting for her to mess up. She'd never felt such a drop in confidence in her life, but her first match in a Tornadoes uniform was proving to be the scariest, most terrifying day she'd ever have to endure.

Maybe she could get sick, come down with dragon pox or something. No one could blame her if she had terrible spots boiling and bubbling all over her face, yeah?

The thought of her skin being covered in pox made Maggie wrinkle her nose, and she found herself returning to reality, staring at Adrian's back as he thanked the manager of the restaurant for keeping the more obtrusive fans (and cameramen) away from his and Maggie's dinner table. She was very grateful for the privacy, as her nerves had gotten the best of her throughout the night even if it had been a lovely dinner with quite the romantic atmosphere. She couldn't blame Adrian for doing his best to brighten her mood, and that was why she grabbed his hand the moment he was done talking, and pressed herself to his arm.

She smiled at the manager and quietly thanked him too, ready to go.

She almost whined that she was too tired for surprises. No, no, that would be rude, that would be so mean to say to the boyfriend who had done nothing but try to make her feel good about herself. Maggie would feel incredibly guilty for upsetting Adrian tonight after he'd put forth such an effort to try and make her happy. And---he had, he really did, he always made her happy, and maybe she should be putting forth a little more effort to make him happy.

Maggie's eyebrows rose at the sight of the blindfold and though she kept a smile on her face, she looked more confused than anything. If he was trying to play dirty out here in public, well...he could be a bit more discreet about it.

"I hope you're not planning on dragging me into that closet," she said, taking hold of one end of the blindfold to feel the fabric. They didn't play these sorts of games in bed, so he must actually not want her to see where she was going. Maggie wasn't sure if she could walk in these heels while blindfolded, so she hoped they didn't have to go far.

"Can I get a hint before you blind me?"

Adrian shook his head from side to side in an excited manner, his smile growing larger by the second. Alright, now he was starting to feel the adrenaline pump through him, his body already anticipating what was about to happen in the next twenty minutes. It wasn't a nervous kind of adrenaline, but the good kind--- the kind that got him revved up for an important event, like a match or... proposing!

He could do this.

"Nope!" he replied, choosing to not only ignore Maggie's face, but her question as well. No time for that! No time to dwell at all! Adrian glanced down at his watch for a final time check-- and right on schedule. He quickly pushed his sleeve back over his watch, just in case Maggie had noticed the slip.

"No hints! Come on then," as Adrian spoke, he helped Maggie not only tie the blindfold, but also check it was secure. It really didn't matter too much if she could see out to her feet a little bit because it was dark out anyway, so it was more for show. With a bit of help for the few steps they had left to the door, Adrian guided Maggie, giving her only a few seconds to prepare side apparation.

See, he'd had it all figured out. He had found this particular hill during one of his many walks when he had first moved to Wales. It was close enough to the sea that there was a nice breeze, but far enough that the view was spectacular in the moonlight. All around he had (with help) decorated a little circular area with hovering and standing lanterns with big candles in them, illuminating what he felt to believe a very romantic atmosphere.

So--- Adrian gingerly lead Maggie over to the right spot, wordlessly letting go of her once she was in place. Now he just--- "Alright," he spoke in a steady tone, despite now feeling somewhat shaky on the inside. Good thing he had his knee down on the ground for support. The ring box felt heavy in his hand, though.

Hm. So, they were outside, and it was breezy. Maggie had a feeling she knew where they were. More than a feeling, really, she was quite sure where they were. It made sense. She'd been expecting him to do it, after these past few weeks, but he really could have let her be more prepared. Maggie was surprise it had taken him this long.

"Adrian," she sighed, "You really didn't---" Maggie pouted, sure that when she pulled off the blindfold they'd be on the Caerphilly pitch and there'd be some practice match set up for the two of them. He'd mentioned it over dinner one night, and while she thought it'd be a good idea to just shake out some nerves, she didn't really want to----

The blindfold dropped to the ground at the sight of the lanterns, the glow of the candles making everything----they were not at the stadium, they were not on a pitch, they were on a beautiful, candle-lit hill with rolling waves of grass blowing in the breeze. Her hands were limp at her sides, eyes wide, awe-struck at how beautiful it all was, amazed that he'd set this scene for her and----it took her a few seconds to snap out of her daze and realize that Adrian was not standing beside her, or in front of her, or behind her, but there he was. Down on one knee.

"Oh my God," she let out quickly, her hands beginning to shake. He wasn't! Was he? He was. "Adrian, oh my God--"

Was that a good 'oh my God' or a bad 'oh my god'? Adrian couldn't help it, for a brief moment he wondered if her reception would be negative or positive. What if she felt they weren't ready? What if this was too overwhelming for her, what with the start of the season and all? He hadn't really thought about what he would do if she said no.... she wouldn't say no, would she? He wouldn't say no to him.

Just as quickly as his mind had raced, his doubts washed away as he took in her face fully. It looked.... she looked happy. Or about to be. Not that grimacing kind of shocked, but surprised, anticipating kind that lead to positive things.

Well, he wasn't quite sure what Maggie was thinking. All he knew was that he wanted to do this, to show her how much she mattered to him. What better way could you do that than with a nice, big engagement ring? And some words from the heart.

"Maggie," his voice came how shaky, despite feeling confident inside. So, he closed his eyes and shook his head. None of that. This was important to get right. "Maggie," Adrian started again, setting his shoulders back and his posture straight. "I have never felt so happy, so right about being with another person in my entire life. You make me feel... complete, so I don't have to worry about anything else as long as your with me. I want-- I think I can be a good father for Josef, and any other kids you might want, or not to have." He paused, smilingly briefly at the thought of how good-looking their children would be because of her. "I just-- I feel so lucky because I still don't understand how anyone could let you go. You are an amazingly wonderful and beautiful person, and I want to spend the rest of my life with you, if you'll allow it.

Adrian made sure to open up the small box in his hands before saying his last part. "So, Magnolia Lisbet Brand, will you marry me?"

"Yes!"

There was no moment of doubt, there was no thinking about this, because Adrian was in fact the man she was supposed to be with. Maggie had a long list of boyfriends, she had exes that still made her angry to think about, but Adrian always knew what to do and what to say, he was always there for her and defending her and wanting the best for her, and Adrian---

He was just perfect. Maggie knew it was silly to call a person 'perfect' because no one truly was, but he was perfect for her. He gave her confidence when she was feeling low, he helped her through the rough times without complaining or--Maggie truly and honestly believed that he loved her and would be there for her, and for Josef, and---and for any other babies they might have---Merlin, their kids were going to be so good looking. So, so good looking. She wanted them now, she imagined them being so absolutely perfect.

Maggie nodded again and again, sticking out her hand because he couldn't put the ring on fast enough. She wanted to be his wife right now, she wanted to be Adrian Mattias' wife, she wanted to be Maggie Mattias---look at the alliteration, this all worked out so perfectly. He was brilliant, this hilltop was brilliant, life was brilliant; how could she ever have felt like crawling into bed and ending their night just minutes before? He couldn't imagine ever letting her go, and that---that meant so much to her. Maggie smiled tightly as tears began to fall and she shook her hand to hurry him up.

"Yes, I will, yes!"

A huge grin broke out onto Adrian's face as he jumped up from his spot, getting as close to Maggie as he could. That one word was all he needed to hear-- the only in the whole world that mattered. Yes! She said yes! He had never felt this happy, this relieved and this excited all at the same time before in his entire life. It was--- it made it feel like everything was moving faster, but he didn't want that, because he wanted to savor this moment forever.

Somewhere along the way, the box had fallen to the ground, but Adrian paid no heed to it. There were more important matters to attend to! As carefully as his adrenaline-fueled hands would let him, Adrian slipped the ring onto Maggie's ring finger. It looked nice, there. Like it definitely belonged. This image considerably brightened his already high mood, so he couldn't help but grab onto Maggie's face to kiss her fiercely.

He loved this woman. She was going to make him so happy, and he was going to make sure to make her so happy and-- words! There had been words he wanted to say! Breaking away momentarily, Adrian managed to slur out his next words while rubbing his thumbs on the sides of her face. "Okay good, because I don't think I could get over you saying no."
