drake parkin ([info]parkin) wrote in [info]valesco,
Everything was funny to Drake. Being at this event with all these media people and non-quidditch players, being tied up in inane conversations was funny to him. In an ironic, I want to kill myself kind of way. Drake was definitely not the best when it came to interacting with media and older fans. His public appearances consisted of dates with gorgeous women and smiling for the camera. He would sign anything a young fan wanted, but if you were older than twenty, Drake believed you were deserving of a little scorn if you were going to get all gooshy about it, or try to give advice. There was nothing more Drake hated then was 'former' players (likely had only played at Hogwarts) tried to give him moves or tips.

There was only one reason he was here, being required to by his manager. He'd brought a date - making sure to tell her that it was only for the evening and wasn't anything romantic, because he didn't do Valentine's day or anything related to it. There was a reason he never had a girlfriend for the first three weeks of February. An extra week afterward, because the hearts would be mended enough for the girls to be receptive, but with very weak dignity. It worked for him. It was very true that you could only have two of the three necessary things in a woman - beauty, intelligence and emotional stability. Drake usually banked on the first and last, he could listen to women prattle on about stupid things as long as they weren't crazy and easy to look at.

He liked to look at women, and although he refused to go near the female quidditch players, it didn't hurt to look, but then they did things like twirl around in a dress in public and Drake couldn't help but snort. "Everything is funny," he said to her, turning from his place leaning back against the bar to face her. "You can allow women to play quidditch, but put them in a pretty dress and well, they turn into pretty little girls playing dress up, is all."
