Who: Marissa and ~mystery guest~
What: The ministry is bollocks.
Where: Muggle London
When: The relative 'now'

Everyone was so goddamn bloody happy that nobody seemed to remember that the Potters were dead, their child had been left to some unknown familial benefactor, and the Death Eaters were most probably still out there. Did people honestly think that once Voldemort fell the whole lot of them just exploded out of sheer horror and shock?

Marissa frowned and flexed her gold hand, stepping off of platform 9 3/4 with a sigh. She knew there was a ministry party that she was probably more or less contractually obligated to attend, but that was the last thing she wanted to be doing now. She just wanted to get away from the Wizarding World. It was something she hadn't done in a long while, not since Hogwarts and too much time spent with her parents telling her that they were grooming her to take over the 'family business' of raising dragons. They didn't seem so bad now, dragons ... compared to the rest of the bloody world.

She slunk guiltily over to the nearest taxi and asked them to take her somewhere she could get some nice, greasy fish and chips (even though the thought of eating made her stomach turn right now). He dropped her off at some hole in the ground or another and she paid him reluctantly with a little of the muggle money she'd gotten from Gringott's. That had been a pain.

Walking up to the counter, however, she immediately forgot that she wasn't hungry.

"LIZ?" What in the bloody hell was -- she was supposed to be --

Ah, fuck.

"Oh, you are most certainly fucking not." Marissa was not going to be incredibly patient with Liz, which was going to work to both of their disadvantages. She waved her hands in the air above her for a moment, "You -- you have a kid. You were kidnapped and I -- I can prove it!"

Not that she really could, but. She took the glass of water anyway and sipped it, not particularly wanting to get kicked out of the restaurant over her shouting and flailing if she could help it.

"Look, I -- just come outside with me for a second, okay?" If she could show Liz something to jog her memory, maybe -- maybe that would help things along. The Death Eaters had obviously done something to her.

That was hilarious. Belle let out a loud laugh and stared, incredulous, at the girl. A kid? She had a kid? She was bloody twenty-one, for heaven's sake! Who in their right mind had a kid at the age of twenty-one, especially without a husband? Goooooodness, did she think she was some sort of tramp, or whatever? She was the one wearing some crazy gold---thing on her hand!

"You're out of your mind," Belle stated. A kid! Kidnapped! It was all so ridiculous that Belle's curious nature couldn't help but question her even further, "And why would people want to kidnap me, huh?" She motioned for the girl to lead the way, crossing her arms afterward in an almost frustrated manner. She was lucky that their lunch rush had disappeared and there was no one to wait on at the moment.

"Go on, then. Prove it."

"You're -- well, this is going to sound bloody crazy." She rummaged in her bag - she'd been carrying the prophet article with all the missing in it since it had come out, just in case. Sturgis's family was among the missing, so she wanted to make sure that if there was any chance of her finding them that she had it. She looked over to Liz, then passed her the article. The moving picture on the paper should've been evidence enough, right? But there it was in plain font on the page, Elizabeth Bell.

"Look, I'm going to make a wild guess here and say that you've been having some trouble remembering anything past a few months ago, right?" She arched her brow at Liz expectantly.

Belle snatched the---what the hell was this thing printed on? Parchment? Really? Where was this girl coming from, ancient history? Her eyes scanned across the headlines of this 'Daily Prophet' and she nearly ripped the thing as the pictures began to move. The missing people were smiling and waving up at her----this couldn't be happening. Belle flipped the parchment over to see if---how was it doing that? What---

"What the fuck is going on!" She wasn't even shocked by her face smiling back at her on the Prophet, not---"It's moving! It's----what the hell is this!"

Belle thrust the parchment back at the girl, "Who are you! What do you---" The past few months? How could she have known that? Belle frowned deeply and backed away, sure that she had passed out in the back room of the restaurant and was having a very strange and terrible dream.

Ah, hell. She should've thought that throwing Liz into this thing head first was just going to fuck with her. She was never going to get Liz to come back with her if she couldn't get the girl to trust her, which meant she would need to remember her.

"I'm sorry if I startled you. I'm Marissa," she said cautiously, making sure that Liz could see both her hands as she put the paper away. "Marissa Macfusty." Maybe if she pronounced her name clearly enough, Liz would remember it. Probably not, though.

"I didn't mean to throw so much at you at once. It's just that--people have miseed you, that's all." Oh, and one of your best friends is dead. That too.

She didn't have anyone in her life to miss, so how could they miss her. She'd been---Belle's eyes narrowed, forcing herself not to think about how empty her life really was. After her attack the police had tried to find her family, because someone must have been looking for her, but---no. No one came in and reported a missing girl about eighteen---she was eighteen. Belle twitched and snatched the parchment back and looked at the age written under 'her' picture. Twenty-one! That was impossible, there was no way she was---

"Who are you," she said again, even though Marissa had given her name. Belle frowned deeply and opened up the newspaper (news parchment?) "Who are you and what do you--"

Her mouth froze mid-sentence as she spotted another picture of herself, but she wasn't alone, this time. She was with a man, who looked a little older than herself, and on her hip was a little girl. She was the sweetest little thing Belle had ever seen, but what was scary was that she was a spitting image of her, that---Her hands crunched the side of the parchment and she glared angrily at Marissa. Who was this woman?

"Why are you doing this to me?"

"I already told you -- I'm Marissa. You're my -- friend." Thinking about Liz naturally meant that she was thinking about James, and that almost made her choke up on the spot. She took a deep breath and sighed, internally counting to ten.

"And I'm doing this because I want to help you!" She was getting a little put-out by all of this. "I just want you to get back to where you should be." Because the Death Eaters just shouldn't be able to take everything away like they were doing right now.

"Will you---stop saying that!"

Belle didn't know what to do, she didn't know what to think! She must be dreaming, because she didn't have a daughter, she wasn't missing, and pictures did-not-move! This woman was casting strange bloody---spell-----

She shut her eyes. Magic. Belle couldn't explain it, but she'd been having nightmares about red and purple bolts of---magic. That's all she could describe them as, that's all anyone she'd told about the dreams could even relate them to. Just hours upon hours of men in masks screaming at her, Belle! You tell me, Belle! Potter----we need to know where he is! You tell me right now

"Where should I be?" Belle spat, scathingly. She threw the paper on the ground and felt a twinge of guilt for letting the picture of the little girl hit the pavement.

Okay, she had to think rationally here. She wanted to make sure that Elizabeth knew who she was, so she started slowly.

"You -- you should be in the wizarding world. That's where your family is, your husband Ian Bell and your daughter Katie and -- and with your friends," she didn't want to mention him, but she forced herself to say the name. It came out a little too loud, and just a tad choked. "James! James Potter." And Merlin, Sirius. She swallowed hard and clenched her golden hand at her side.

"And -- we're friends too." Not as close as either of them probably would have liked at this moment, but it would just have to do.
