She wished he wouldn't have gotten so close. Danielle kept her eyes duck to avoid any chance of faltering, because right now she had to be serious, she had to be the most serious she'd ever been in her life. What Donovan was telling her...she had to pay close attention to his words. She was a chance. She had lost his trust before, and now breaking things off with this Cecilia woman wasn't something he could completely justify. Donovan didn't know if he could take the risk of being with her. That...hurt.
Danielle bit her tongue. During these past few weeks, she was ready and willing to drop everything she had right now to be with Donovan. Just because of a kiss. Everything she'd ever felt for the man standing in front of her had exploded back to the front of her mind, to control her heart, and she was ready to do whatever it took to be with him and---he didn't know if he could take the chance. It hurt, it hurt so much to know that he---
"I can't---ask you to choose," she nearly blurted, but Danielle felt so numb that she wasn't even sure if she said it. She felt her shoulder scrunch and she pulled into herself. This had always been a problem when they were dating, but at least back then, she had been a loyal girlfriend, who at least had a Hogwarts professor as a parent, something respectful. Now, she was just the flake that had disappeared on Donovan without a word, trying to steal him away from a supposed perfect match.
Danielle wanted to touch him so badly, but she forced her hands behind her, "I can't---it's your family, Donovan, I couldn't--take you away from them, I wouldn't----I'd rather lose you forever, and suffer all my life than---" she choked out, tears falling from her eyes. It hurt, it hurt, "than put you through so much pain, I couldn't, I can't--"
