g r a c i e l a ([info]aheavenlycause) wrote in [info]valesco,
Out of all the people she had informed about the divorce, Edward had been the calmest. Her father and brother...and sister, they had all ranted and raved, and her mother had tried not to break into tears but had failed miserably. All of their reactions had just made Graciela cry and think about how she could have prevented this flow of events and emotions, but it all led back to being unsure of what she had done wrong. There was a voice in her head that told her it had not only been her doing, that a marriage takes two people to work, pero--it was hard not to be guilt-ridden.

She was Catholic, after all.

It did cause her some relief when Edward stated that she would not have to speak about her private life anymore. Graciela managed a smile and nodded, thankful that he hadn't been too alarmed by the news. That was what she was afraid of, with breaking the news to her friends---they would ask questions, what had happened, how was she doing, was Zacharias okay---She should be strong enough to answer all of their inquiries, but it took so much energy to just think about the reasons behind the divorce that she did not know if she could manage to explain it to anyone. Maybe they would all just realize soon that Alex was in Greece and she did not seem to mention him at all.

"I have had...some time to get used to the idea," she started to explain, feeling as if she needed to at least give Edward some information, as she did need him to trust her if they wanted to continue being a good team on this tour, "We filed in April because of---" Her face flushed, "Things I could not--prevent, and---I have full custody of Zac, pero of course he will see his father and will probably spend some summers in Greece which would be nice for him and...it was---very amicable."

She winced at the word. Graciela wished at least one of them had gone down fighting, but they were too much of a lost cause to exert themselves in that way. "I just do not want my readers to think I am a liar, I very much believe in family and marriage, things are---they are not perfect like the books."
