Prove it. Gabriel shut his eyes and took a quick breath. She wanted him to prove that he loved her. How was it possible to explain all that he felt for her? Gabriel wasn't a poet or a man of many words. He just knew; he had never experienced this kind of feeling for another person, and that was how love was supposed to be. He wanted to create the happiness in Rachel's life, he knew that he would only have happiness if she was there with him.
Did she want a list? He loved how she stood up for herself and her beliefs, he loved her honesty because no one in his life had ever been completely honest with him. Gabriel loved that she was the most brutally honest with the people she cared most for, because lying to them would be disrespectful. He loved that she was trying to make up for missing the first few years of her daughter's life, that she was taking responsibility for not only Amissa but for Michael as well. He just---he loved her, there was nothing else to it.
Gabriel let out the breath he was holding and turned Rachel to face him, not giving her the chance to speak before he kissed her, his hands going into her hair and pulling her toward him from around the waist. He loved her, he loved her, and he would never feel like this again, for anyone,
"I love you, Rachel," he said, pressing his forehead to hers so she would be forced to look at her, to allow her eyes to focus on him and only him, "I'll prove it every day for the rest of our lives if you allow me to." Gabriel had never felt so sincere, yet so anxious in his life. He needed her to allow him to love her.
