Diagon Alley Attacks --- Backdated for Friday --- Open to All!
"Ex--cuse, me---move, move, move!"

Didn't people know how to act in a time of crisis? You didn't stand around screaming bloody murder, staring at the rays of hexes and jinxes while you waited to get hit by one of them. You moved, you hid, you did whatever you could to stop the bloody death eaters that were interrupting the peace. You didn't become a distraction or something that could cause even more harm. Emmeline jumped and twisted and forced herself through the crowd of people surging in every which direction. This was going to be such a disaster.

Emmeline wished she hadn't offered to take the package to Flourish and Blotts. The package was too delicate to let an owl deliver it, Patrick had to head home early because of his daughter, and seeing as it was only a five minute walk, hey! Get some sun, earn some brownie points from the cousin who was constantly harassing her to do stuff other than ogle at her nerdy boyfriend! Haa. She wished she'd just refused and taken on the extra paperwork, but that meant that Edward would have probably taken the walk to Flourish and Blotts and Emmeline knew for a fact that he would have either frozen in terror or with his bad luck been shot in the head once the first death eaters showed up.

Okay, stop the morbid thoughts.

The door of Calliope's jingled pleasantly, completely ignorant of the chaos that was going on just down the block. Emmeline knew it wouldn't be long before they reached the publisher. "Edward! We've got to go!" she shouted, trying to keep her voice from sounding too stressed. "Come on!"

"Hm?" Edward responded faintly a few seconds later, distracted by the latest story he had taken up reading. It was one of the more interesting pieces he had edited in a while, focusing more on the environment the author had created than the characters themselves. Set in an alternate universe (usually a concept Edward did not enjoy reading), it was fresh and actually manageable to get through. It took him a few more moments to finish the page, therefore storing everything Emmeline was saying to him until after he had finished.

He finally looked up to her, immediately confused by her anxious state. Was there something wrong with the delivery? Had Flourish refused to take another of their deliveries? An especially daft employ was infamous in Flourish for never accepting any deliveries because she thought they were hexed. "Did you have a problem delivering?" Though... it would be strange for Emmeline to be so involved concerning such a trivial task.

"To Flourish and Blotts?"

Emmeline stood frozen in the front of Edward's desk, staring down at him with wide, confused eyes. She had just realized that this was the first boyfriend of hers that was not a member of the Order of the Phoenix (or a death eater), and would not instantly be alerted of such chaos like the madness that was going on just around the corner from Calliope's. Edward did not have the instinct to fight, and his first thought at seeing her frazzled state wasn't to jump up into action, but to question her skills as a delivery person.

This was a whole new game she was playing.

She suddenly felt very nervous. Emmeline was able to hold her own in a death eater battle, but with whatever partner she was with she knew that they too could manage. She had no idea how Edward's dueling skills were, if he had any at all. She was betting on the latter, and for a moment she wasn't going to say anything and just pull him into a closet and lock him in there so that he couldn't get out and hurt himself---A large explosion rocked the entire building, and Emmeline had to grip the desk in front of her to steady herself. Books fell from the shelves and ink quills smashed to the ground--yep, no avoiding this anymore.

"Death eaters," she said simply, coming around the desk and grabbing Edward's hand, "We need to go through the back---leave the manuscript!"
