Odetter!
"Terry never really had a...theme," Noah began to explain as he stared at the blank walls of the room that was to be a nursery. He blinked at the white canvas he and Odette had to decorate, not a single idea coming to mind. "It was sort of...stick the crib in my bedroom and be done with it. He didn't mind I don't think."

He looked down at his son, who was passed out on a pile of paint blankets that were supposed to be used to keep the floor clean. Noah had never magically painted, and while it was much easier than the muggle way, he knew that there were still hazards. He turned to Odette with a shrug, hoping she had a better idea of what to do than he did. It had never really occurred to him that you could do so much with a kid's room, and how it could change the way they behave, and Noah hoped Terry didn't become a neanderthal for not having a well decorated room his first year and a half of life.

If left up to him, the walls would probably just be painted a bright, bright pink because that's what girls liked, right?

Yes, what girls liked, what his little girl would like. Except Odette didn't know it was a little girl, and he had to keep the secret to himself or feel the wrath of the woman standing beside him. But he liked knowing he was going to have a daughter to spoil rotten with pink frilly things.

"A farm. A jungle. A..." He grinned, "Noah's ark."

The prospect of having happy furry animals painted on any room in her house, let alone one that she would soon be spending a large amount of time in very soon made Odette want to vomit. Was there really a reason for it, aside from the fact that everyone said you should decorate the crap out of a child's new room? What was wrong with just... regular... nice color? Calming things, keeping a child calm was very important, wasn't it? She would at least think so.

Odette opened her mouth to take in a deep breath of air, willing for the agitation bubbling within her to disappear. It was just--- her body hurt and she was too vain to drag in a chair and too large to sit on one of the paint cans! The universe, just like everyone else, enjoyed her in this state, and that was precisely why she had to continue standing and interested like this was a life or death situation. While prohibiting the rising realization of reality set in. Because she could have none of that, it was entirely too terrifying.

"We should just---" Odette started, her hands resting on her hips. "Just--- put all the stars and planets up there or something." Her hand waved toward the general direction of the ceiling, hoping that Noah would like this idea. No doubt he would make it into a project, aligning everything so it was correctly spaced and portrayed as it would in the real night sky. Distractions, she always had said, are never a bad thing, and distracting him from-- everything else was at least something she had been toying with.

"Like they would be in real life."

Not for the first time in their relationship, something Odette had said caused Noah to do a double take. It had been a long while since he'd actually gawked in amazement at her---well, no, there were still some times when he had to pinch himself to make him realize that he actually was engaged, about to have a kid, with a beautiful woman like Odette--but he'd gotten used to most of her ways of thinking, and!

He could make such a cool design, something he'd been thinking about for the planetarium and--

Noah's amazed smile turned quickly into a frown, and he pointed a finger at Odette, "Are you messing with me? Because you know I'll go crazy with all of this---are you trying to distract me from something?"

His face did crack into a grin at his last comment, knowing it was silly of him to think that Odette was hiding something. Well, hiding something more important than her absolute terror at the idea of having a baby. Noah wasn't dumb; he was quite aware of her avoidance tactics and almost complete denial that she indeed was carrying a child. Their child, no less. Noah stared at her for a few more seconds (noticing her slightly pained face) before turning back to the blank wall.

"We could definitely do that, and put in some personal touches," he said with a nod, "But first, I'm tired, come lie down with me."

Odette's face automatically shifted to show displeasure. Was she never allowed to step outside of her comfort zone without being subjected to suspicion? Just because she didn't particularly enjoy looking at the sky for hours on end like Noah did didn't mean that she thought it would be an ugly idea to put stars that twinkled on the ceiling. Dark blue and gold went very well together. Not to mention it would be a--- good learning.... tool.

"No," she responded, one hand going to her hip. "I can't make a suggestion? Just because I don't like---" Odette stopped herself, not feeling to keen on starting anything at the moment. Plus she didn't like the way that Noah regarded her in those few moments-- like he knew exactly what she was thinking, just like how she knew exactly what he was thinking. It was unsettling. She didn't want him to know about this rising... anxiety within her. It--- just--- she--- couldn't--- look at what this baby was doing to her!

"But I don't---" Odette started, her face setting in firmer. A long look escaped her for one second, half willing herself to just plop down on the ground now because suddenly she felt like crying for no reason at all and all she wanted was to be done being pregnant so life could go back to normal with quidditch and it felt weird eating all these extra foods not to mention sleeping was not as easily obtainable as before and---

God, she missed quidditch.

"I miss quidditch," Odette blurted miserably as she let Noah sweep her out of the room. The feeling of wanting to cry passed just as quickly as it had surfaced, but concealing something she had been thinking about for over a month now was not as easily achieved.

Noah frowned, nearly pouting his lip at her announcement. Okay, that was sad. Not sad, sad, like it wasn't as terrible as a death or anything like that, but--Noah would be feeling the same way if he wasn't allowed up in his lab for nearly nine months, or however long Odette had been off the field. He knew how much she loved to fly, and it wasn't something bad that was keeping her grounded so...it had to be a rough place to be.

It could be the thrill of the game that Odette missed, but he really couldn't duplicate that, so as much as Noah hated being on a broomstick, he got an idea that would maybe take her mind off of how miserable it be stuck on earth. His hand went to Odette's back and he pulled himself in front of her, getting as close as he could (which wasn't very close).

"I picked up one of those Bluebottle broomsticks the other day," Noah said, face flushing slightly. The idea of him taking Terry and the new baby out a broomstick terrified him, but he needed some way to transport them around, right?

"They're supposed to be really safe for expecting mums and babies so--we could go for a fly, if you want." He shrugged, running a soothing hand across her cheek. "Or we can go lie down."

Her ears immediately picked up. All Odette needed to hear was the word 'broom'--- Noah bought a broom? She couldn't--- her brain wasn't able to function this properly. Odette stared plainly at him, her mouth opened slightly as her brain sought to put everything together. A Bluebottle-- nothing in comparison to her Nimbus, or course, but the mere thought....

Odette continued to look at Noah, her head tilting slightly to the side as her face softened. It was a thoughtful gesture, wildly so, and if it had been a few months earlier she would have jumped to this opportunity. While her first instinct response was 'yes!', the more she thought about it, the longer it took her to truly decide. How would stepping back onto a broom like this make her feel better? So huge of a stomach that touching her toes had become a thing of the past? It would--- the next time she got on, all she would think about would be that moment and that wasn't what she wanted to feel the next time she stepped onto the pitch and rose into the air.

So---

Her lips wobbled into a short-lived frown. Noah was sweet, too sweet, which only made it harder for Odette to find a reason to be angry with him in the past few weeks. Blinking slowly, she let out a low breath of air, suddenly wishing for him to touch her face again.

"But--- you hate flying." Not something she thought she would ever say to the person she was pledging to spend the rest of her life with. Though, then again, Odette had never imaged getting married to someone else in the first place, let alone be pregnant, so really, all of this shouldn't be that shocking.
