She apologized profusely, using frantic hand gestures as she backed away from the head healer’s office. Therese smiled tightly, watching the door slam shut before she turned on a heel and hurried away.

Je suis si bête!” she scolded herself quietly. How could she have mixed up the appointment days? How embarrassing! And to have interrupted what had apparently been an important meeting of her boss and his boss! Therese shook her head and attempted to hold herself together as her face grew redder and hotter as she exited the office building. Her mind whirled with dates and times and they cluttered and flustered her thoughts even more. If this appointment was supposed to be for tomorrow, then the appointments she had for tomorrow had to be moved and that would ruin the rest of the week for her!

She needed to fix this now. Moving quickly, Therese attempted to pull her journal out of her purse to send a quick message to Ralph. He would have to start contacting people immediately if she wanted to keep her patients happy. Though, having the person you trusted with your inner most secrets and trepidations cancel on you because they messed up their calendar was not the best way to build a relationship.

Therese’s eyes lifted a moment too late and before she had a chance to react she crashed straight into a poorly placed lamp post. Her parchment, journal, and everything in her bag went flying about the pavement, scattering and going completely and totally out of order. She couldn’t even be bothered to rub the most definitely red spot on her forehead as her face contorted to hold back her tears at the sight of the mess, her mess.

Sacrebleu,” she muttered, covering her eyes with her hands in a futile attempt to calm her nerves.
