Juliana closed her eyes and let her head sink back into the cushioned chair. Reclined back all the way, she could still detect the glaring brightness of the afternoon sun through closed eyelids and dark shades--annoying, without a doubt, but also the perfect weather for catching a much-needed tan.
Today was her day off. Unfortunately, however, it was The Boy's day off as well, and unlike most wives, Juliana's idea of a good time did not include spending quality time with him. In fact, on the perfect day he would be working late into the night, never to utter a word to her. But that's just not how things seemed to ever work out in her life, and so she had gone for the second best thing; getting as far away from him as she could.
So there she was, out by the pool, ignoring the fact that Orpheus was anywhere within a kilometer of her, and getting some sun. Or trying to at least. Not more than ten minutes into her attempted relaxation, Juliana heard the back door slide shut and a pair of feet approach the pool area. She scoffed to herself and closed her eyes again, determined now to not allow him to disrupt her. If he wanted talk about something, he could at least wait to do it some other bloody time, but he was not going to ruin her one day off.
