It was hard as all fuck to lead a double life.
But, Dimitri was good at it. He hated it, but he was good at it. Finally finding some time to rejoin the wizarding world on a social aspect, the thoughts of keeping his muggle life a secret had really overwhelmed him. It was for Gabrielle's own safety, of course, but the fact remained that he was lying to his friends and the people he cared about about the woman he cared for most in the world. Dimitri had come to the conclusion a long time ago that Gabrielle didn't need to know about his job, or his abilities, because...well, she loved him, right? Why should he put her in danger---and he knew other people did it, he knew that other people had wives and went out into the field every day, but when you could keep them out of harms way, then--why not?
Maybe one day. But not now. There was a war raging, and there was no need for any more trouble than it was worth. Because seriously? Was it his fault he was good at his job? No, thank you very much. Maybe the criminals and death eaters just sucked at hiding from him, ever think of that?
Sometimes he really did feel like a superhero, but on occasions like this, when he was sitting home and helping Gabrielle grade some pop quizzes. Felt like he'd hung up his cape in a secret compartment in the back of the closet.
"You have some very stupid students," he said, x'ing out a few more wrong answers.
