"All you've got to do is laugh at her jokes and like...talk!"
Peter repated this to himself in his best mocking 'James Potter' voice, pacing around his apartment as he ran his hands back and forth through his hair, trying to get himself to calm down enough. He had already ordered the food he would be taking to Dexter's place, and he was jsut waiting it to get to him before he coukld bring it to her. He had ordered Italian food, being that it was the first menu he had picked up, but because he didn't know what she liked, he had basically ordered pasta of different sorts with almost every sauce that was available. Alfredo, Vodka Sauce, Tomato, Marinara, etc. She said she was good with basically everything, but he just wasn't sure, so he wanted to be safe.
"Maybe I should just tell her I'm sick...like, I just came down with a sudden virus...aaah, no then they wouldn't ever let me live it down, and then I'd feel bad and I'd probably wind up running into her all the time, and-"
Oh, Peter was SO glad that there was a knock on the door, because he probably would have kept talking to himself. It wasn't like he always walked around having full conversations with well, him, but he did when he was nervous. And damn it, right now he was nervous.
Opening the door, he took the many many bags that the man had brought and paid him before he brought everything inside, taking out the food. He charmed one bag so it would hold everything, and made it weigh less so he could lift it and not look like he was really really weak...and also, so the bag wouldn't break. Of course.
Peter swallowed before he ran into the bathroom, fixing his hair and his shirt before he grabbed his wand that was on the table, and the bag ( he was almost sure he was going to forget it at home ) before he apparated to the front of Dexter's building. Oh, it looked really big from where he was standing. Maybe it was just his imagination, like the building was something huge and intimidating because his situation right now was huge and intimidating. Maybe. Then again Peter wasn't a very tall or large guy, so it could just be his perspective. Anyway.
Stepping to the door, he paused for about 5 minutes before he got up the nerve to push the buzzer. The noise made his stomach twist, now even more nervous than he was before. Honestly, you'd think he would be braver than this, being a Gryffindor and all. But he just wasn't used to girls paying any attention to him. Being surrounded by Remus, James, and Sirius, kind of deflated a guys ego.
Hearing the door unlock, he froze, but then opened the door and climbed up to the second floor, fixing his hair once again, almost tripping up the last step because he wasn't paying attention. Brows furrowed as he looked behind him, as though something was there that had tripped him, but no. No there wasn't. He was just a clutz. He sighed and turned around, stepping towards Dexter's door, taking another few seconds that felt like hours just to raise his hand and knock on the door.
Here we go.
