「ℐuliet → ᶯott」 ([info]isthesun) wrote in [info]valesco,
Good, so if they had been gone an hour, she had at least another couple before Anneliese came running back---if she was lucky. If she knew her friend, no packing could keep her away from cute (cute? Well, it wasn't so wrong to call them that if they were hers, was it?) infants who she didn't think were going to get enough attention from their parents. Which meant that if she wanted to continue to fend her off until they left here, it might mean having to pretend to be bonding. Or acting maternal.

Two things that Juliet Nott had just now realized that she had no idea how she was supposed to do.

It wasn't like she was worried about knowing how to take care of them, for their basic needs--it wasn't Arithmancy or anything--, but what about the part where she was supposed to actually be their mother and not just a glorified around-the-clock babysitter? That was a very foreign idea to the woman who was known by the people around her for being a cold, snarky bitch who seemingly lacked affection and consideration when it came to anyone but herself. As Juliet's eyes locked on Evan, squirming lightly in his bassinet, she suddenly felt very, very frightened of leaving this place.

She didn't take her eyes away from the waking baby's face as she spoke. "Tomorrow? Aren't they---too small to go home---I mean, so soon?"
