Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Entry tags:emmeline vance

WHO: Antonin Dolohov and Emmeline Vance
WHAT: Antonin thinks going to his friend is a good escape plan. It might work.
WHERE: Bristol, Emmeline's flat.
WHEN: RIGHT NOW!
NOTES: ALTER you can either assume Frank's come and arrested him or that he hasn't yet, I think either's fine for the article. Whatever you want! I'm just going out and needed to get this up XD

Antonin Dolohov was sure his life was over.

It wouldn't be long before they found his wand, and it wouldn't be much longer than that before they were able to trace it back to him, because fucking Ollivander remembered every goddamn wand he ever sold. He was so---fucking---screwed. He couldn't go home because that was dumb, Franzy was out of the fucking country, Cecilia and Kalista would be the first people the banged the doors down on, so in all of his panic he made the decision to go to the friend he'd deeply treasured for nearly six years of his life.

He banged furiously on Emmeline Vance's door, fumbling with the wand he'd stolen off of a random wizard in Knockturn Alley, keeping his head ducked low underneath the hood of his cloak. She had to be home, she had to---

"Who's there?" her voice rang from behind the door. Antonin fell against the wood and pressed his face against it, feeling overwhelmingly grateful.

"It's Antonin, let me in!"

The door opened and he was greeted by the red, tear-stained face of Emmeline. Antonin froze at the sight of her, and then pushed forward into the flat, shutting the door behind him. Fuck, fuck! He'd forgotten that she was friends with Prewett, that--he recalled a memory from fourth year, Emmeline spilling her ink all over herself because the bloody Ravenclaw had said hullo.

"What the hell is wrong with you?" she spat, wiping at her eyes with the back of her hand. "You look like you've killed someone."

He forced himself not to flinch at her words, and shook his head, "Em, I'm in such deep shit, you need to get me out of here."

Antonin began to pace, pulling off his hood and pushing his hands nervously through his hair. He was screwed, he was so screwed. Only Emmeline was smart enough to help him, and he trusted her with his bloody life. He knew that the feelings were reversed, he would do anything for Emmeline---he'd already defied the Dark Lord's wishes because of her, getting Evan Rosier in a ton of shit in the process, but---Antonin turned back to Emmeline, sweating. Her gaze was on him, eyes narrowed with confusion.

"What did you do?"

"What do you mean, what did I---"

"Why do you have to leave? What did you do?" Antonin watched her face grow red, and he stepped back. No, Emmeline could not have known he was a death eater. They'd just hung out last week! They were joking! Surely she would not hang out with death eaters! Not after Dearborn, not before that---

"Something bad, but I need your help, I need to--get to the States! I need to get to the States."

Emmeline's fists tightened by her side, and Antonin realized that this wasn't going to be as easy as he'd thought it would be. She was supposed to help him without question, but he could see behind her eyes; her mind was moving quickly, she was trying to process everything and he wasn't going to get the straight help he needed. Antonin felt himself grip tighter onto the stranger's wand under the sleeves of his cloak as he stopped to look at her.

"What did you do, Antonin?" Emmeline asked through gritted teeth. His keen eyes saw that her wand was on a far table. No, he couldn't tell her, she would go to the authorities, she'd---Antonin blinked quickly, and he knew that was enough for Emmeline's sharp mind to put the pieces together. Her body froze, and Antonin felt his shoulders sink in defeat as he realized she'd figured it out. "Gideon!" she let out in a horrified whisper, her hand going to her mouth.

"No, I'll explain!" Antonin shouted, but Emmeline jumped away and started toward her wand, "NO!" Before he could think his wand shot out, sending a jinx straight into Emmeline's side, knocking her into the wall and down to the floor. Antonin let out a strangled sound as he hurried to her, dropping to his knees. Shit, shit, shit. He grabbed at Emmeline's shoulders, making her wince at his grip as he tried to get her to look at him. "I helped kill the Prewetts, but please, you have to understand!"

"FUCK YOU!" she screamed, trying to pull away but unable to. Antonin felt his hands hold on tighter and tighter, eyes blurring, "You're just like the rest of them, you're fucked up!"

Antonin felt something inside of him light up, an anger he had never felt toward anyone that wasn't one of his victims, one of the people he hated. Fucked up? He was not fucked up, it was the rest of the goddamn world that had decided to play those fucked up games with him---The world killed his parents, muggles killed his parents and sent him to that bastard of an uncle. The muggles didn't give a shit what happened to the boy that was left behind, his uncle didn't fucking care that he was a child, so why should he care about anyone who didn't give a shit about him?

He smacked her hard, his hand moving quickly to jab a finger under her chin, "You're going to help me, Vance, or I'm going to kill you."

Emmeline's breath became harsh, but her bright eyes narrowed almost shut, "Do it."

"JUST FUCKING HELP ME!" Antonin roared, grabbing her arm and lifting her to her feet. Emmeline let out a shout, but she wasn't strong enough to pull away, "YOU HELPED THAT DEARBORN BASTARD, HELP ME!"

Antonin shook her fiercely, feeling all his sense fly out of him. It was over, his life was over, and he wasn't even twenty years old. How the fuck had he let this happen? He was too smart for this, he'd known the attack would be a bad idea, and now look. He was going to fucking kill the one girl that hadn't fucked him over all his life, and Antonin didn't feel a tinge of remorse at the thought.

She looked weak in his arms, and for a fleeting second Antonin thought Emmeline was going to pass out. But she didn't, and blinked her eyes up at him, a look of understanding coming over her face, "Could you clear his name?"

"What?" Antonin snapped angrily, making her wince. Emmeline paused to regain herself and took a breath.

"Could you clear Caradoc's name? Tell people, anyone--the authorities that he was a traitor, trying to help the ministry?"

He nearly laughed. After all this, after all this, all she cared about was Dearborn and his name? Fucking----Now Antonin did laugh, and he nodded, grinning widely when Emmeline nodded as well. He pushed forward and kissed her, half out of relief and half from happiness that his friend wasn't betraying him after all. Partly because he'd always wanted to---

Emmeline tugged herself away, hand going up for a moment before hanging down by her side. "Go, go hide out in my bedroom---" she said in a hushed tone, and Antonin couldn't resist the wolfish grin that slid on his face. He watched a blush flush over Emmeline's cheeks and he turned to leave, feeling for the first time today that things were going to go okay.

"PETRIFICUS TOTALUS!"

Antonin felt his entire body seize up and he spun on his heels before dropping down to the wood floor. His eyes moved as frantically as his mind, and they widened when Emmeline stepped into view, her wand pointing directly at his chest.

"I should kill you right now," she said lowly, taking slow steps around his body. "I should kill you, for killing Gideon, for Fabian, I should kill you----" Emmeline's wand arm pulled back quickly and Antonin shut his eyes, expecting the hex to hit him painfully in the chest. But, it never came, and he opened his eyes again, only to see a pearly, silver image of a cat sitting on his chest, staring down at him almost serenely. A Patronus?

To his surprise, the Patronus began to speak, I have Antonin Dolohov in my flat, he's admitted to killing the Prewetts.

Antonin's eyes shot back toward Emmeline, who wasn't looking at him anymore as she started to send her Patronus in every which direction.

His life was over.
