Fabian Prewett ([info]fabulously_fab) wrote in [info]valesco,
Gideon wasn’t the only Prewett whose thoughts weren’t completely focused on the task at hand. Sure, Fabian was paying attention to what was going on around him, since not paying attention could get him, or both of them into a lot of trouble, but there were definitely other things on his mind; like Bess, for example. The moment he had woke up that morning, he had started getting ready, and for the first time in a while he had smiled when he looked into the mirror. Today was a good day, because the woman he loved was about to give him another chance…even though he probably didn’t deserve it, after everything that had happened throughout their relationship. He had put her and her daughter in danger, just by being associated with them…but he couldn’t just let her go. He cared about her far too much, and was willing to put up a fight to keep her.

Arriving at King’s Cross, he shot his younger brother a broad grin, twirling his wand between his fingers before they started patrolling. His eyes scanned the area, taking in his surroundings, looking for anything out of the ordinary. So far, everything was alright. He kept his wand concealed the best he could when he was around muggles, but made sure he never put it down, just incase he needed to use it at a moments notice. Because everything was going so smoothly, Fabian allowed his shoulders to relax, and starting humming whatever song had been playing over the radio this morning while he was getting ready, but went quiet as soon as he heard the screaming. He straightened up, and his eyes widened as he looked over to Gideon, and immediately started running after him, through the magical barrier that lead to platform 9 and ¾’s.

His brows furrowed together, looking around as Gideon did to see what was going on. There was nothing that really struck him as odd about the scene, but he held his wand tightly in his hand, and nodded to show he understood what his brother’s plan of action was. When he was inside the train, Fabian jogged alongside the train, looking through each of the compartments to see to the other side. He saw some of the students looking out the window at him, and because he wanted them to remain calm, he gave them a smile. “Just stay in your compartments you guys, and try to stay calm, alright? The train will be moving in no time, and you’ll be at Hogwarts before you know it.” They gave him wide eyed stares, but nodded and said ‘okay’, which warranted another smile from him, before he moved on to try and give some of the other students the same message. This was a serious matter, and he knew this, but…the last thing he wanted to do was act all grave and serious, and have the kids start freaking out when they saw how worried he was.

He jogged back to where he had been when Gideon had entered the train, and when he saw him hop off, he breathed a sigh of relief, chuckling a bit as he rubbed the back of his neck. “Glad that’s taken ca-…” Before he could even finish his sentence, he turned around to see the group of death eaters heading towards them.

Raising his wand, ready to duel, he too felt his heart speed up in his chest, pounding against his ribcage so hard that he thought the bones might shatter. It was 2 against 5…and he wasn’t very happy about those odds. There was a very good chance that he wouldn’t walk out of there alive…but he tried not thinking about that, because that also meant Gideon didn’t have a very good chance, and that thought scared him more than the possibility of his own death. When his brother squeezed his wrist, he swallowed roughly…because he knew Gideon was thinking about the same things he was trying not to think about.
