It was too much. Drystan could no longer bear it.
Quickly, his wrist snaked out and grabbed the piece of bread before it landed in the flaming depths of the fire, popping it into his mouth, looking just as nonchalant as he had a few moments before.
"Small wizards in poor third-world countries eat less than that in a day," Drystan admonished her severely, regarding Seth dubiously from the corner of his eye. It didn't matter to him what their captain did, though many of his antics were not what Drystan would call captainly conduct. The only thing he was concerned about at the moment, however, was whether or not Odette was going to bounce from her seat and throttle him, given the unfortunate remarks of Seth Wadcock on the subject of her engagement with Noah Boot. Not that he wouldn't deserve it if she did, in Drystan's opinion, but it probably wouldn't be good for team unity.
Who were they joking with that rubbish, in any case?
"You tell them, Captain," he said sagely, expression very angelic. "No one can make you do anything you don't want."
