"Booth!"

Tomas sent a quick look over his shoulder and let out a relieved breath at the sight of Berkeley Doge. Holy shit, this was absolutely----Tomas nodded his head over as he continued to levitate, kick, pull, the rubble out from in front of the blocked off office door. He could hear the voices of the stuck Ministry employees behind it, they were so close. He wanted to blast the damn wall of rubble away, and shoot down the other hall where he knew there was a staircase, but who knew if it would cause anything else to collapse and---fuck, this was looking hopeless.

"There's five people back there," Tomas relayed to the other auror, who immediately joined him in his labor. He noticed immediately that Berk wasn't in his robes, but the thought left his mind as the ground beneath them rumbled slightly. Tomas and Berk shared a quick glance before hurrying back to work.

"We have to get them out of here now!" Berk exclaimed, dropping the last rock he picked up and backing away, putting his wand up. "Put a shield up on the roof!" Tomas watched as the tip of his partner's wand light up, and he threw a hand out.

"HOLD IT!" Tomas screamed, a second later realizing Berk's entire plan, "You're going to knock the whole place down! Shit's going to fly everywhere!"

Berkley frowned, his mouth pressing into a hard line, "You're faster and stronger than I am, you have to hold up the roof and get everyone out. "

Tomas paled greatly. There was no way the Berk was actually---if he blew up the rubble now, it would give them very little time to get everyone out and you couldn't even predict where everything was going to---Tomas knew it was the only way. Fuck it all. His wand shot out toward the ceiling, the spell shooting across it like a spiderweb.

"GO!"

The blast nearly knocked Tomas off his feet, but he held onto his grip and fortunately for all of them, the ceiling did not seem to be affected by the blast of rock and debris. He pushed through the dust and was immediately grasped onto by one of the random ministry officials behind the door. Tomas recognized her and sent her down the clear hallway, shouting at the rest to follow her. Those stairs should be safe, if--

Tomas grabbed onto the the frame of the door as the walls and the entire Ministry began to shake again. "GO, GO, GO!" He pushed away, shooting another shielding spell toward the roof to keep it from crumbling on the people. Tomas' head shot back and forth, his expression grimacing, "DOGE!"

"Right---here!"

He whipped around and grimaced as Berk approached, bent at the waist with his hand pressed into his side. His white shirt was slowly being soaked with blood, and it was seeping through his fingers. Tomas moved forward quickly to try and heal the wound, but Berkeley shook his head, "You have to go!" he gasped out.

"What, I---" Tomas looked back, noticing for the first time that the people they had just rescued were too terrified to go further down the corridor, where bits and pieces of the ceiling were falling hard to the ground, "Doge, stop being dumb!"

The other auror shook his head, causing Tomas to let out a string of curses. Berkeley put on a hard face, "Booth, I'm dying."

Tomas felt like he'd been struck in the head with a beater's bat as Berkeley lifted up his hands to reveal the wound---it----Tomas felt all of his insides come up his throat and his eyes quickly darted back up to Berk's. He'd never seen anyone so pale and sweaty and---"I'll--I'll carry you!"

"Then you can't do the--shield," Berk gulped, "Go, I'll----put the spells I can to keep it from---collapsing!"

"Jesus fucking Christ, Doge---" Tomas let out, but when the other man shook his head, he knew. Tomas knew that it would risk all of their lives to try to save Berk and---he couldn't believe this. "I----good luck."

Berkeley nodded and then proceeded to shoo him off, his weak arm shooting toward the ceiling as Tomas shot down toward the civilians.

This was the worst day of his life.
