Of course she wanted to be an Auror. No matter how she and her precious father fought, she was clearly following in his footsteps. She was a Gryffindor after all, he sneered to himself. They weren't cut out for much else, and it wasn't like they did that particularly well.
But perhaps... perhaps she wasn't entirely useless. Perhaps there was something to be gained by entering into a friendship with the Head of the Auror Department's daughter.
Barty put it on the backburner. He'd ask advice on it. But she could be exactly what he was looking for.
"Could you be any slower?" he drawled to her from their table as she made her way to the stacks. "You do realize Transfiguration-- or any other subject for that matter-- isn't going to magically fill in the empty spots in your rather empty brain?"
