Oh, that question was completely loaded. She stiffened up a little and placed her hands defiantly on her hips, brow arched.

Marissa knew just as well as Vinny did why she was here -- because her friends were here and clearly their counterparts couldn't keep them safe since Gleny's house got blown up.
She slid into a seat at the table and continued to watch Vinny, guarded but trying to be warm. He'd had a hard time of things lately and she wasn't about to just let him slip down into depression or something over ... well, anything.
Once you had a bloke as a captain they entered a whole new level of friendship accessible to only a few people.
