Who: Eliza Alderton, Dedalus Diggle, annnd some death eaters
What: Attack on their flat!
When: Today

Her knees hit the floor first, half a second before her hands slapped against the wood. Eliza sucked in a heavy breath, only to have her arms shudder and let her drop to the ground. She'd never never experienced this much pain before, and there was nothing to stop it from continuing, there was no way that she could put an end to her own misery.

She'd have to wait for this bastard of a death eater to do it.

Dedalus had told her that the Order was on an extreme edge, the on goings of the past few weeks showing that. You-Know-Who had their names, that he knew who they were. That would terrify anyone, the Dark Lord knowing your name, knowing you out of a crowd, so just imagine a group of freedom fighters bent on taking down his evil reign on the wizarding world? Just imagine how terribly shaken they all were--it made them put up wards, change their schedules, quit jobs and nearly go into hiding, but what more could you do? Some people couldn't afford to completely disappear, or to drop everything they were doing to protect themselves. They surely couldn't, and---

There were at least two; one was standing by the door, waiting for Dedalus to come home (she begged silently that he hadn't taken that extra shift----though a part of her hoped he did so he wouldn't get caught too---), and the other's mission had apparently been to drag out of her everything she knew about the Order.

Which was very, very little. She knew nothing more than they did; she had names, but they wouldn't be new to them if Dedalus was right about them already knowing them all. Not that she'd tell them, no--she was a Gryffindor, if she couldn't stand up to death eaters, then she should throw her red and gold tie into the fireplace and never say the name again.

It fucking hurt though, being a Gryffindor.

"I need you to think a bit more about what you know," the death eater hissed under his mask, squatting low. Eliza managed to push herself up on her elbows and continued to glare. The song blaring from the wireless was nearly drowned out by her heart beat in her ears. "It would be most beneficial to your surviving this evening."

Dedalus had apparated to the downstairs area of the building, like he always did, since he enjoyed taking the walk around the building before he got to his and Eliza’s apartment. It was a short walk, he knew this, but it was usually just to get some fresh air and clear his head, after a long day of work. Every now and then, he’d actually walk around the building a few times, when it was warm out or if he had a lot to think about…but today, he hadn’t even got halfway around the perimeter before he stopped dead in his tracks, as he caught sight of the small dog who was sitting on the steps, barking up to the second floor. “Spunky?” His brows furrowed together as he approached the confused pup that jumped up at him, as though trying to tell him something. Leaning down, he scratched behind the dog’s ears. “What’s the matter?” His eyes travelled up to the second floor, able to see their apartment from where he was standing.

Almost immediately, his stomach dropped. The door was open, which…wasn’t at all normal, if Eliza was home. And, if she was home, than her beloved dog sure as hell wouldn’t be standing around outside, without her trying to get him back. She would have been outside, trying to lure him up the stairs with a treat, calling his name. And, she wasn’t known for just leaving the apartment without locking the door, let alone without closing the door. “…stay…” Dedalus’ voice was stern, and the dog panted before sitting down on the step, looking jumpy. He didn’t blame the damn dog…because if he were in its position, he’d probably want to run right into the action as well. Something was definitely wrong, and the thought of Eliza being in harm’s way was something that made his head spin.

Reaching into the back pocket of his jeans, he moved stealthily up the stairs, and against the wall, approaching the apartment, stopping dead in his tracks as he heard voices inside. His heart began to pound in his chest, and he stood just a few feet away from the door, his hand gripping tighter and tighter at his wand, pressing his back against the wall to make sure he wasn’t seen. He swallowed roughly, getting himself ready, trying to block out the Death Eaters who were inside (he recognized the muffled sound of their voices…), the annoyingly chipper song that was playing on the radio, as well as Eliza’s terrified thoughts that seemed to be louder in his head than anything else. Taking a few deep breaths, he eventually moved forward, pointing his wand at the distracted criminal who had invaded his home. “Caecuso!” As soon as the spell was muttered, the Death Eater was no longer able to see anything, since the young Order member had just successfully blinded him. Rushing forward, Dedalus came up behind him, jabbing his wand forcefully into his back as he moved them inside, away from the door so that he was able to close it. Now that he was able to actually see Eliza, his stomach twisted again. ”Dedalus, don’t do anything stupid…don’t do anything stupid that will get her hurt…”

“…let her go.”

The death eater shot straight up, arms out wide to his side in an almost welcoming stance. Eliza immediately rushed back, pushing herself so fast on the ground that she rammed right back into one of their many bookshelves, sending a few of the texts tumbling to the ground. She couldn't even move to duck away, all she could focus on was the fact that Dedalus was here and he was standing off against two death eaters and---this was absolute insanity.

She didn't even know how it had happened, it had all gone down so quickly. Eliza had been outside with their dog, and she'd forgotten her book, so she'd turned to go back up the steps to the complex but---someone shoved her inside from behind, and then up the stairs and how had no one heard her screaming? They burst down their door, pushed her into the furniture and around and just completely demolished everything in their flat.

For what?

"And what are you going to do, Diggle! Read me a bedtime story?" let out the death eater, sounding nearly jovial. Eliza tried to control her heavy breaths as her eyes scanned the area around her for something to use against the intruders. She was terrified out of her mind, but she was finding that the terror was making her think more clearly than she ever had in her life. As her mind scrambled for an idea, she couldn't help but think that she recognized the voice of the death eater, that his laugh was something terribly familiar---

Her thought process was interrupted at the site of a broken teacup on the ground, and Eliza lurched forward to grab hold, to stab the death eater in the leg or---something before he could begin a duel with Dedalus.

"I rather like Beedle the Bard's tales," said the death eater, arm swishing backwards with a shocking zig-zag of purple light shooting out of his wand. The spell hit Eliza straight in the gut and she mouthed a silent scream because the pain that erupted in her side completely overwhelmed any sense she had. It felt like she was bleeding and gushing blood to the floor, but as her widely frozen eyes shot down to her stomach she saw no trace of the pain.

'Holy shit' was her last thought before her eyes rolled into the back of her head and Eliza's body completely crumpled to the ground.
