What do they do?
Gabriel blinked at Mary, mouth hanging open slightly as he tried to find some part of the answer she was looking for. He didn't know where to begin. A life of secluding himself from his family and friends felt as if it wasn't in the question for him, and Gabriel felt so weak for it, but he'd always relied on these people. Only a few of his friends had reached out, because they had come across the same sort of situation, but even then they weren't his family.
He really couldn't see this ever getting better. Maybe he was being a chicken, a complete coward in all sense of the word and maybe one day he'd be able to deal with the pain and strife, but right now. Right now all he was doing was hurting Mary, which effectively hurt his son, and he couldn't do that.
God---for the greater good, is what they said, didn't they? This didn't feel good, this didn't feel good at all, but it would allow Mary to open up her life again and not have to worry about him, and she could be happy, the baby could be happy...
"I still want to be involved, if you'll let me," Gabriel muttered, unable to catch her eyes as well. Who would want a coward like him near their child? He felt like dying.
