Archie!
There were probably a million and one more things she should worry about other than getting fat during her pregnancy. That was like--one of the things she knew she should be doing, but Izzie could not stop herself from completely fretting about a pooch.

Yes, she'd found the word for it. Or, was told the word, by one of her students. What did that old lady know, anyway, hm? Telling her she looked pregnant and was positively glowing.

...okay, so maybe the 'glowing' part wasn't so bad, but still. You shouldn't congratulate someone on being pregnant until you knew for sure. Even if they actually were pregnant. It was just rude and uncalled for, and Izzie would make sure that for the rest of her life she would make sure to never congratulate a pregnant-looking woman before said pregnancy could be confirmed. It would save the world from a lot of crazy people.

Isobel ran her hand down her front, Archie's shirt scrunched up under her arms as her fingers traced over the spandex of her yoga pants. She'd come over to his flat immediately after work, a regular routine she'd started up, and was waiting for dinner to be ready. That was something she should be worrying about, learning how to prepare food for her future husband, but Archie seemed to like cooking, so--why should she worry about that?

The sound of plates clanging against the table made her ears perk, and Izzie dropped her shirt back down before hurrying out to the kitchen.

Archie had never really taken the time to wonder why he was a good cook (or even why he had taken an interest in such a domestic thing) when he was a man and a wizard, neither of whom he had ever seen lift a finger to do so in his lifetime. His reasoning, however, should someone ever ask him, was that he was a Scotsman! And a Frenchman! Both of whom had incredibly loud and distinct palates, so if his family wouldn't, his nationalities would be more than happy to provide the drive to excel in the kitchen for him.

As the chicken carbonara appeared on the table, he rolled up the sleeves of his robe and gave his approaching fiancée a smile (and no, there was no way he was ever going to tire of using that word verbally, in thought, or narration, thank you very much). "I hope you don't mind Italian again-- do you have cravings yet? They aren't the kind of cravings that involve pickles and preserves to be combined, are they? Because I am a rather skilled in the kitchen, Isobel, but there is no possible way I can attempt to make that edible... What do you think of starting to look for a house soon? Also, when do you think we should take you in to see another Healer? I keep meaning to write up some sort of schedule of some sort."

Archie tried to take a deep breath subtly and kept his eyes on his plate, reaching for his fork.

Izzie's bare feet were very cold on the tiled floor of the kitchen, but she remained standing because of the onslaught of information and questions from Archie. Er--what? There had been food (food was all that was really important anymore), and it had quite suddenly turned into house-hunting and hospital-visiting.

Why her fiance found the need to spew all of this out in one quick, rapid-fire breath, she had no idea, but as it settled in her head, Izzie nodded and sat down at the table.

"We can ask the healers how often they want us to come at our next appointment, which can be---next week, or something," Izzie said, somewhat distractedly as she leaned forward to get a good whiff of the chicken. Merlin, he shouldn't tease her with food and then ask all these hard-hitting questions. "And--I guess, you do need a house if you intend to carry me over a threshold."

"Next week, yes. That sounds very appropriate."

He looked at Izzie with a bit of a scrutinizing look, still somewhat surprised that his comment about searching for a place to live hadn't been regarded oddly. Well, they were engaged (that was also another word he enjoyed throwing around immensely), but the part of Archie that was always fearful of Izzie bolting had yet to adjust to the fact that that was his ring pledging eternal love and devotion and stability to her that was on her finger.

Say what you will about the engagement ring and it's potential negative connotations, but all Archie could think when he looked at that hand of hers was a slightly girly giggle.

"We'll have to ask for a Healer who is willing to sit down with us and go over a plan for this baby-- if only for my own personal knowledge, because try as I might to understand the books people keep touting as fountains of knowledge about expecting a little wizard--or witch," he added hastily, "I feel as if they are only written for people who have the biological means of carrying said infants and everyone else is excluded."

Archie chewed thoughtfully for a moment or two before adding, "We should start looking for more suitable means of living soon, there are only a few weeks left and I would hate if our transition period was too long," he grinned at her. "I hear that the longer you have to wait to carry the bride over the official threshold, the less fun it is."

Izzie didn't know why she flushed at his correct. A wizard or a witch. It had honestly not occurred to her, when taking her first pregnancy test, to find out the sex of the baby. At the time she'd just grabbed the first box and ran like hell, so really. Whether she should be expecting blue blankets or pink bonnets had definitely been the last thing on her mind. And then, telling Archie had been a huge drama in itself, so the sex of the baby had once again slipped her mind, but as she grew more accustomed to the idea (or, the fatter she got, really, because that meant no avoiding that there was a something growing inside of her), it became more...exciting. Exciting! Exciting, excited--that was a good emotion to have during a pregnancy, right?

Right! Anyway---did she want to find out? Sort of--but then they'd lose a surprise they had made themselves.

"That's fine, I mean--a plan or, whatever," Isobel said with a wave of her hand. She was never one to actually write out her own plan, but a baby was kind of important. So. They definitely needed a plan to do things right. Izzie's eyes jumped over to Archie at his last comment, a smirk crossing her face, "The less fun is right---I'll probably be a bloody whale by the time we decide on one."

Archie gave her a scandalized look. "You won't be a whale, you're so tiny already! It is highly improbable that you could get much bigger."

Well, unless she wanted to be bigger, which would have made what Archie just said an insult of some sort. That was difficult; he wasn't sure what pregnant women believed to be attractive versus non-pregnant women. Or, for that matter, what newly pregnant women believed! But did Izzie really qualify as newly pregnant? Because she'd known about the baby (the baby! Well, there was a possibility Archie might not use that word for fear of the responses it might invoke) for some months now, and then--

If he kept this up, Archie's head might explode before he ever kept his train of thought going.

"Have you given any thought to where you'd want to live?" Archie asked, furrowing his brow. That was yet another thing that they had to decide. He did so hate the manors in London, though, he hoped she wouldn't choose anywhere that was terribly urban. That was certainly no environment to bring up children in.

Izzie's bottom lip immediately pouted at the thought of being a whale, even though she should have had the idea in her head, she was pregnant. But--it really took things like her student pointing out her slight belly to really remind Isobel that she was pregnant---not that! Not that she forgot, because she was eating the right food and taking the vitamins and doing all that, but it just felt like another chore, she didn't feel like--well. She didn't feel like a future mother, she supposed.

Oh...that was terrible, wasn't it?

Her pout remained on her face, though it was really a normal kind of expression these days. Her mood swings hadn't been terrible, just that they tended to be more sulky than super amazingly excited. So--pout remained as she thought about his question. Another thing she hadn't really thought about.

"Er---" Izzie's eyes narrowed, wondering why this had never occurred to her. She was definitely on the right track to being a parent. "I want---" A farm. She couldn't say farm. "A big, big yard."
