rp thread: brad and iris
WHO: Brad Madley and Iris Conway
WHAT: Quidditch watchin' and date...thing
WHERE: Hogwarts grounds!
RATING: MMMMPG-13 most likely. XD

Brad hummed to himself as he walked up the path to the castle, his hands stuffed in his coat pockets, pulling the front of his jacket together, because he'd been running a little bit late and needed to get up to the castle and just simply forgot to button it and it was far too chilly to button it in the cold now that his hands were in his pockets. Brad was pretty excited for quidditch, even though he'd never played (and was still ridiculously bad on a broom) because although it wasn't quite a Hogsmeade weekend, it was still an open weekend and he would get to see Iris. Who was currently waiting for him at the top of the steps leading into the castle. Brad quickened his pace and took the steps two at a time, landing just next to Iris with a grin on his face. "Good morning! How are you?" he greeted, leaning in and giving her a quick (and self-conscious) kiss on the lips.

Iris smiled, giving him a quick kiss back. "I'm quite well, and yourself?" she asked curiously. She wondered if her dad would think to send a flock of hitwizard babysitters to snoop around and follow her that afternoon, or if he'd just let it go for once. She had an auror-in-training there to protect her, after all, so there was no reason for the boost in security. Even though the auror-in-training was her boyfriend. That she was fairly sure her father hated. But still! That was all the more reason for Brad to want to protect her, right? Because they were together and--she was lost in thought, wasn't she? Bugger.

"Are you ready for the game?" she asked excitedly. Truth be told, she was never very into Quidditch. She went to games with friends because it was something to do and that's where everyone was, but...she was probably the worst in her year on a broomstick, and she never really saw the point in the game. Yes, it was for the sport of it, but...it all boiled down to throwing a ruddy ball around and trying to catch another one before it flew off again. But this game would be spent with Brad, and it would be much different than the other ones, she was sure.

"Good. I slept in on accident. I think I forgot to set my alarm," Brad laughed lightly, offering Iris his elbow for her to take before they set off at a slow pace, walking toward the pitch. The game was still not for a little while, so they could take a walk around the grounds and then find seats. "The game? Uh, I guess. I'm not really into quidditch, I don't really fly. In fact, it's my worst subject in training. Brooms are just kind of, uh, unnatural to me. I grew up with my muggle mother, and although I knew of the wizarding world through my father, I didn't really know uh, well anything that went on. I practically read myself into exhaustion my first couple months here at Hogwarts, trying to learn everything I could about the world I now belonged to. And then I spent my second and third years trying to find out if I had any family, but yeah, so I'm not the biggest fan of quidditch, but most of my friends played on the team, so I went to my fair share," Brad bit his lip and tried not to feel embarrassed that he'd just blurted all of that out over a comment about quidditch.

Iris gladly took his elbow as they set out at their leisurely pace, listening as he spoke. It was a bit of a relief to know that he wasn't entirely into Quidditch, either. At least she wouldn't have to feign excitement through the entire game this way. She nodded every once in a while, smiling when he bit his lip. "I've never given it much thought, but I suppose it would be a bit strange not really knowing what to expect at school." She wasn't sure if she was supposed to share information about her family. To be honest, she never really spoke about her mum that often, and definitely didn't want to bring it up right then.

"I'm guessing we'll be cheering for Ravenclaw, then?" she asked, tugging playfully on his arm. Thank Merlin it wasn't the Ravenclaw/Gryffindor game.
