Gabriel!
Franzy sighed loudly as she waited impatiently at the restaurant that her mother had picked out, which was way to fancy for lunch.   Really, where was he? Couldn't he at least have the decency to at least be on time.  And where in merlin's name was the waiter?  She had been sitting there for at least five minutes and they haven't even brought her some water while she waited.

"Excuse me" She said to the first person to pass her wearing a uniform, "I'm I not allowed to get anything to drink while I'm waiting?"

"Ah sorry ma'am, What can I get for you?" the waiter ask in a tone that clearly stated his annoyance.

Franzy scowled at the man, it was his own damn fault for taking so long. "A glass of wine. Pino Grigio if you have it.  Thanks."

This would hopefully go over smoothly. Gabriel rushed into the restaurant, mumbling to the concierge about the reservation, and was quickly unraveling his scarf from around his neck as he followed the waiter to the table in which the young woman sat. Franziska, he believed it was. Ah, yes, she was most definitely the one with the enormous scowl on her face.

He'd gone through this before, quite often in fact as his mother was quite popular in their social circle. He'd been set up on many dates with many lovely young ladies (and many not so lovely), and Gabriel knew the routine by now of how to get out of any who were actually willing to go through with some sort of arrangement.

"I'm terribly sorry, Miss. Dolohov," he said, slightly out of breath. He smiled and stood by the table with his scarf and jacket in hand, "I was out of the country, you see, and our portkey left a little later than was scheduled."

At this point Franzy was pretty sure the waiter was just trying to piss her off even more. How long did it take to poor a glass of wine? She scanned the restaurant for him when another waiter was walking in her direction with someone following behind. She raised a brow as she caught sight of the other man's face. Please let it be him that she was meeting, because then she would at least have a gorgeous face to look at through out the meal. And Bertram was off who knows where flirting with some Hogwarts charity case so she was pretty sure he wouldn't mind her flirting with the guy her mother set her up with. (It wasn't so different). And it was, this wouldn't be a awful afternoon after all.

"Ah call me Franzy, please." she said with a pleasant smile taking a sip of her wine that the waiter dropped off while she was other wise distracted. It was almost scary how fast she could turn her mood around. Besides he was out of the country, it couldn't have been all his fault for being late. "There really is no need to be so formal, Mr. Corner."

Gabriel smiled kindly down at Franzy before he took his seat, giving the waiter his drink order before turning his attention to her. She looked rather young; probably straight out of Hogwarts. He wasn't sure if his mother was thinking that a younger woman would be more appealing, but he did have to admit that she was rather pretty.

"You may call me Gabriel," he said, smiling once more. "Have you been here long?"

He knew how to work through these sort of dates, arrangements. Be a gentleman, make them comfortable, try to spot some sort of hesitation, and let them know that it was fine. They could go back to their parents and tell them that he was a beast, or a scoundrel, or whatever it took to make them stop their pursuits.

And, he needed to make it work this one last time, because there was some serious business he needed to attend to.

"Not too terribly long." Franzy said swirling the wine in her glass contemplating what she could do with this current situation. Now that she knew that he wasn't completely hideous (he mother had some awful tastes) she could possibly use this to her advantage. If he wasn't completely annoying she could just go along with this whole thing and kill two birds with one stone. One being her mother, she would get off her case and would finally leave her alone, and the other being maybe it would annoy Bertram enough to settle down a bit, because as much fun as this game they were playing was, it was getting a bit old.

"So how was your trip? I certainly hope you didn't have to cut it short just for me."

"No, no," he said with a genuine smile. Gabriel, while having spent most of his time in Austria in a rather abysmal mood, was finding himself quite upbeat now that he'd made his decision to apologize to Mary and request that he be involved with their son's life. At the moment he was ignoring the fact that he still had to inform his family about this choice, because that would just cause another panic attack. "Actually, the trip was on a whim, with a friend. She had a bit of business to take care of."

Gabriel cleared his throat, and thanked the waiter for the bread he brought, and carefully tore a roll in half as he began to think.

"Franzy, I don't want to sound rude, but I'm wondering what your intentions of this lunch might be," his eyes stayed on the roll, and he looked up at her. This wasn't the first time he'd asked this question, and Gabriel was glad that he hadn't run into any women who were desperately seeking a suitable spouse. He was a bit lucky that way.

Franzy blinked a few times as her warming smile turned into a frown. That was certainly an unexpected question. Actually what kind of question was that at all. He should very well know why she was here sitting lunch with him. She took a long sip of her wine while studying the man sitting in front of her. All the other guys she was set up with were more than eager to get a ring on her finger, but this one wasn't and that definatly perked her curiosity.

"Well my mother's intention, since she is the one who set this whole thing up, is to get me married off to someone. My intention is to keep her from pestering me and out of my social life as much as possible."

A small smile played on his lips. Lucky once again, Gabriel let out a breath and leaned forward, lowering his voice.

"I'm sorry that you've been put in this situation Franzy, but I suppose you'll be happy to know that I have no intention on proposing marriage to you." Gabriel winced slightly, "Not that you don't seem like a lovely girl, but the fact remains that neither of us seem to be willing to make such a commitment on..." his head tilted back and forth, "such a short amount of time."

He shrugged, sitting back, "Was that rude of me? I'm sorry, I just have a few personal situations to deal with at the moment, and I'd rather you know that--this date isn't going to end up the way you would hate it to. Or, any future meetings."

Gabriel hated that he sounded so...old, he sounded like an old man talking this way, but he needed to make things straight, to knock out whatever little worries Franzy might have.

So he had not intention on proposing, that was great. Franzy had no intention on marrying him.

Franzy chewed on her lip for a moment before speaking. "Alright, you don't want to marry me, I don't want to marry you, which makes a very happy non-couple. So that only leaves me with one problem." So Franzy wasn't as... elegant in the way she said things as Gabriel was, but who really talked like that anyways. Besides she didn't have to impress him.

"And that would be my mother. You see, if I go back telling her that I'm not going to marry you like I did with the past six guys she tried to set me up with, she's just going to set a date for a wedding with the next one. And that would really throw a kink into things between me... well in my social life" she trailed off making a small face. He didn't need to necessarily know she had a boyfriend, which is what she was pretty sure her and Bertram were even though it seemed to be going no where fast.

"And I'm sure your mother will just set you up with someone else as well, so how about we just pretend that there are intentions of marriage so we can keep our mothers out of our social lives while we find people we really want to marry."
