The Halloween Ball! --Posted for Friday!
In all of her years at Hogwarts, in all of her years being a prefect and working on a team full of the best students in Hogwarts, Phoebe Smethwyck had never been as impressed as she was right now as she stared around the Great Hall. Illuminated with candles in all shapes and sizes (and colors, a nifty charm a sixth year had found), the tables surrounding the dance floor were decorated with pumpkins, spiderwebs, and fall leaves, creating a spooky, yet beautiful design. The Ghosts of Hogwarts had volunteered to mingle more than usual (she thanked Nearly Headless Nick profusely, and promised to hold him a belated Death-Day party), captivating the guests with stories---how much truth they held, she couldn't be sure, but they were interesting nonetheless.

The band was a new kind of wizard rock, a bit more political than the Hobgoblins, W.O.A.R. There had been a lot of discussion at the prefect meetings about whether or not they should try and book them, but at the end of the day the naysayers (read: the Slytherins) were outvoted, and the band with the hit song "Do You Believe in M.A.G.I.C" was creating an incredible atmosphere.

So---people looked happy. They were laughing, smiling, and just---happy. Not something Phoebe felt like the wizarding world had been in a long time, and she was glad to be a big part of it.

Now, if only she could find a reason to be happy, herself.

Fredrick's eyebrows shot up. "Are you serious? There's a reason why they never showed me that Ravenclaw signal. If I did that to their face I wouldn't get out of the room alive--especially if Ingrid was there. She's gotten crazier since she became pregnant."

He heaved a deep sigh. "You have no idea how many owls I got during that whole fiasco."

Agatha's grin widened and she shrugged in the worst imitation of innocence fathomable. Okay, so. She hated gossip and she hated girls acting bitchy, but, when all the details were in, Agatha knew that the Gryffindors deserved all they got.

Unfortunately now she was dating the enemies' brother, but she did think that the girls were over it. Hm.

She pulled him down to the couch, her amused smirk still plastered on her face, "Poor you."

"It was poor me," Fredrick pouted. "My roommate needed a lot of excuses for why there were owls pecking at my window at three in the morning."

He stretched out on the couch, fiddling with his suit. It was getting really itchy. "But I'm sure they're over all that by now, right?"

"Gryffindors rarely get over old grudges," Agatha said with a sagely nod. And she knew that to be true; she still hadn't talked to Fabian, and it was nearly three years after their not so lovely break-up and her, er...rather not nice ways of seeking revenge against him.

Okay, so maybe Agatha's picture should be placed against that 'women scorned' phrase.

Agatha pushed Fredrick to the side to give herself room to stretch out against him, and she tugged at the ruffles popping out of his vest. "I think you look rather dashing."

"Liar," Fredrick teased, leaning forward to kiss her forehaed. "You think I look ridiculous, don't you?"

He smiled at her dress. "I mean, it's not like we match at all. Think I might look a little too old world, you know what I mean?"

Agatha batted her eye lashes, pushing herself up to look down the length of their bodies and at their outfits. It took her a moment to realize they might be in a bit of a compromising position, one they hadn't really been in before. And--she found she didn't mind it too much.

Looking back down at Fredrick, she grinned, "We have a theme. You're old world and I'm modern, new age."

She leaned down to kiss him, feeling rather amused with the turn of the situation. They'd definitely come here for a ball and they hadn't even set foot on the dance floor.

Fredrick liked compromising positions. Without hesitation, he leaned forward and kiss her lips, softly but surely. He moved to nibble on her ear, but stopped suddenly.

"Whoa, wait, why do I have to be old world? Can't I be a modern man too?" He grumbled.

She let out a breath; really? Arguing right when they were getting to a snog? Agatha chose to ignore the fact that she'd done it a few times in the short period of their relationship, but still.

"I hate to tell you," she kissed along his jawline to attempt to distract him from interrupting anymore, "but ruffles have been out of style for a century or two."
