Mary!
Mackenzie had never honestly been to Mary MacDonald's home before. That little fact had occurred to her after she had left Mungo's and decided to go over the girl's house to check up on her. So it was a feat in itself that Mackenzie had managed to find the little flat without Sebastian's help whatsoever, just remembering tidbits he had said in passing, and perhaps asking some people along the way that she did not know. But the point was that she was there, and trying to help this girl that she did not exactly know well. Or at least enough to call her more than an acquaintance through her husband.

What had compelled her to come, Mackenzie would never know. There was not necessarily a bridge to rebuild per say, or anything like that, since the two of them had actually never really talked before, but maybe doing this now would take care of any leftover and lingering ill feelings that might still be present. Because honestly enough, while she did not know Mary personally, Mackenzie was very much aware of how opinionated she was about... things. So, going to check up on the poor girl certainly shouldn't hurt.

Oh, Merlin. She sounded like one of the boys; trying to make sure the way people thought of her was in tact. When had that ever bothered her before?

Shaking her head, Mackenzie took a deep breath and knocked on the door. Maybe they would become friends. Why not? All of her friends seemed to hate each other, so why not add another person to the list? Or, you know. They could just hate each other, which was incredibly likely too. Or really, Mary wouldn't like her and Mackenzie would just stay away from her; Mackenzie liked to reserve the word of 'hate' for just one person in her life, and she was fairly certain Mary MacDonald was not her.

"I brought crackers!"

Mary could suddenly feel herself wanting to cry, wanting to just break down and sob but--she wasn't going to do that around Mackenzie. A baby, if there even was a baby, was a good thing. A very good thing just--unexpected and it didn't help that the potential father was so infuriating and frustrating and--well, she was attracted to him, and they did seem to have chemistry when they weren't busy fighting, but. Gabriel Corner? She didn't fancy having to confess this to him...if she was pregnant. "Bugger, I feel so stupid..."

Mungo's was the last place Mary wanted to be right now. But she wanted to know. Mackenzie seemed to have a good grasp on that. And, after all, Mary trusted her. This would be kept confidential, she knew. "That--that might be good, actually." No publicness about it, just her and Mackenzie and a potion and--and being scared and nervous and, even if it was just the tiniest bit, excited. Her mother would kill her for being pregnant out of wedlock and there would be a whole ordeal, but--there was something about having a life--a little, tiny baby inside of her--that was ridiculously appealing to Mary.

She could just pop back to the hospital and take a test from there to bring back. That would be better, Mackenzie suspected. And most reliable, at the least, to be correct enough for Mary to accept. Plus, the thought of walking into any 24-hour like store didn't exactly appeal to Mackenzie at that point in time. Especially at night. You would think that having an auror for a brother would help ease her paranoia about danger after dark but.

She supposed she could--- oh, she would have to call Sebastian. He knew that she had been planning to check on Mary tonight, but in light of everything, he would most definitely have to find his own dinner for the night, if he wasn't already asleep waiting for her. And this meant she would have to come up with a very good lie, for now, to explain everything. Well, this night was shaping up to be quiet an eventful one.

"Drink some water," she said, taking the cup of water she had brought into her hand as she stood up. Well, wasn't this exciting. With a smile, she handed the water to Mary. "Better to keep hydrated either way," she said gently, and then went to put on her coat.

"And stay calm," she shouted over her shoulder from the door. Yes, that would be helpful too.

Calm. Right. Because that would be the proper, normal response to this situation. She held the glass in both hands, staring down at it carefully before taking in a large gulp. It was all she could do to slow her brain from racing too fast. She was already weighing the options for what to do if she actually was pregnant, and somewhere on a back burner she was wondering to herself what she would do if she found out that this was just some stomach virus after all. Relief? Joy? What if she felt a little sadness, too? Would that be strange or normal or--she didn't know what.

She wanted to stand up and pace right now, but that probably wasn't the right course of action with how she was feeling at the moment. Instead, she stared insistently at the door, her brain feebly attempting to write her confession speech to Gabriel should she actually turn out to be pregnant. She wasn't sure how he would react, and she feared that he would be angry with her somehow because of all of this. There wouldn't be any real way to know until it came down to it...and there was no real point in fretting too much over this until she knew for sure.
