"I could be mistaken," Mackenzie supplemented quickly, as if saying that would make this new atmosphere any less uncomfortable than it already was. But even then, oh, how horrible was she now? Implying that Mary's could-be-real baby was a mistake already? Even before she knew that this was a virus or not? Mackenzie's hands instinctively clinched together over her stomach. As if those thoughts were hurtful to her own child--- which was ridiculous because of course he wasn't a mistake or---
"Everyone is different, I do not want to make you jump to any life-changing conclusions before anything is determined," Mackenzie suddenly stated, interrupting her inner thoughts purposely. She forced her lips to form into a small smile to try to reassure the other girl, and herself.
Well. Wasn't this a nice little get-to-know session. One of the few conversations Mackenzie had had alone with Mary, and here they were talking about whether she was pregnant or not. Work just rolled into life, didn't it? "If you want, I can go get a home test?" she asked suddenly. They could bring her to Mungo's, really. But somehow, Mackenzie figured Mary wouldn't want to do that. "It's no trouble, really."
