God Modding is against the rules. And while Axel pointed it out in an eariler post, I do not believe her post contained enough information on what exactly falls under god-modding to make a good dent .....and after that post I actually noticed an ~INCREASE~ in god-modding. One of my characters has fallen pery to it six times now. And by more than one player so let's explain what god modding is so nobody makes a mistake!
God Modding is when someone’s character has the ability to do practically anything without limits or boundaries. Not only when one takes control of another character. An example is when they simply cannot be harmed, outsmarted, out niced, and out pwnaged by any and all means other RP-ers try.
+ Killing or injuring a character without the player's permission is god-modding. + When a character can't be hit and is able to dodge all attacks or anything aimed at them is god-modding. + Controlling a character you do not PLAY is god-modding. Taking control of all the NPC's to the point where you give them names, occupations, personalities, and backstories can fall under this to. They're there for temporary play- not continuous play as if they're another character of yours. NPC's are "Non-Playable Characters" ...And concerning characters created by another player that is sort of an NPC, such someone's pet, those should ONLY be played by the person that created the character or if you are given permission. + THE absolute WORST way to god-mod is when one makes their own character a Mary Sue. Which is one makes their own character seem superior of every other character. They can make others seem weaker than their character, less intelligent than their character, uglier than their character, meaner than their character, and whatever else makes them greater that isn't stated in canon. If you character is magically immune to heartless- You're Mary Sueing. If your character magically knows people's names/love interest/what they ate for breakfast without any sort of predetermined explaination- You're Mary Sueing. If your character can be purer in heart than Sora, smarter than L, Mello, and Near combined, more physically fit than Suzaku, have more HACKS than Yuki Nagato, be manlier than Kamina, or know more about everybody here than Konata when their canon never says they are those things. They're a Mary Sue. Stop playing them right now.
*Annnnd canon, incase one is not aware, is another word for official. It means the official storyline in which the character is based on/came from. So if your character is stupid in canon- you really should be playing them stupid. * NPC's in Traverse Town are anything that isn't a claimed character- such as moogles, heartless, random inn staff, store keepers, and the 101 Dalmations.
THAT'LL BE ALL. |
