Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
Who: Kevin Pavlos and Tallie Roberts and/or anyone else that would like to join in
What: Hanging out at the skate park
When: August 18, 2011 about 2pm

Greece had been a marvelous experience. Kevin loved seeing his cousins and family members, even if it was bitter sweet to be reminded of the life he kept secret from everyone else. Suits and ties. Formal dinners. State affairs. It was all pretty boring and annoying to spend so much time in these fancy get ups. So when he finally got home, and got over his jet lag, the first thing he did was text his friends to say he was back and that he'd be at the park if they wanted to meet up.

Sitting on the halfpipe, feet dangling down, he took a bit of charcoal and swirled it around the little landing, leaving a beautiful design of a wilting lily, petals falling like snow flakes from it.

Tallie didn't mind admitting that she'd missed Kevin while he was away. Well, okay, she did mind admitting it. But she had missed him. And she was kind of insanely jealous about Greece. Tallie wanted to see the world, but it wasn't exactly something she could do. Her family wasn't exactly made of money. They had a comfortable place to live and Josh took pretty good care of them, but she definitely couldn't go jetting off to Greece or anywhere else. No, her summer vacations were spent right here in Chicago.

When her phone lit up with Kevin's text, Tallie couldn't help grinning. Josh was at work, so she sent him a quick text to let him know she was going out, changed into some clean clothes really quick, and then walked out the door. Minute later, she was at the park, slipping into the space next Kevin.

"Hey, stranger," she said, grinning over at him. "How was Greece? Didja miss me?"

Spending time out on the ocean and visiting his family had been an experience. Fun, exciting, but stressful, too. He was glad to get back to his "normal" life, if you could call it that. Trying to keep his past a secret sometimes took its toll on Kevin. He hated feeling like he was keeping a secret from the world, but at the same time he didn't want people to know about this part of his life, a part that didn't really exist anymore without his parents. And more than that, he hated the lie of that world. The fancy parties the fake smiles. He'd rather be with people that really got him then people who would take advantage of his position.

As Tallie moved in next to him, his heart raced a little bit. He didn't know much about her, but he did know he wanted to. "Greece was nice. I got to visit some family. And of course I missed you. Kept wondering about what new creation you were making. Actually, I got you something." From his pocket he pulled out a mosaic tile. On one side is a scene of an archway with the ocean through it and the other is a black background with a white lily. "Definitely missed you, beautiful."

"Oh, this is gorgeous, Kevin." Tallie was impressed. It really was pretty and she spend the next moment or several examining the tile, turning it so the light caught on the mosaic and grinning at the effects. She didn't exactly have a lot of pretty things and she was touched by the gifts.

"I hope you brought me some pictures, too. I have to live vicariously through people who had actual lives this summer."

Her tone was light, but sometimes she did resent not having money, not being able to go cool places, just having to hang around Chicago and do all the usual things. She liked hearing about her friends' adventures, but she couldn't help thinking it would be nice to have some of her own.
