Who: Phillip and ?
Where: The Village streets
When: Nearing sunset
Warnings: None to speak of

It couldn't be said that Phillip was settling in to his new situation though he had, at least, spent time finding his way about the Castle inasmuch as he needed to. He could now find his way to his room, to the food, and to the stables. He'd also managed to find the right person to ask about having baths brought to his room though he hadn't availed himself of any other 'service' the maid might have provided. Truly, he'd only been in the Castle enough -- once he'd found his way -- these past several days to sleep, eat, and bathe as needed. The rest of his time had been spent riding all over the land surrounding the Village.

He had also discovered that one couldn't just keep riding away forever. No, eventually -- and he hadn't quite managed to put his finger on exactly where the line was -- he always seemed to find himself riding back toward the village even when he could have sworn he'd been riding in a perfectly straight path "away".

Magic, again. Far too frustrating.

He'd ridden quickly, he'd ridden slowly, he'd walked on foot, he'd gone in all sorts of directions, and had even briefly considered (but discarded) the idea of riding backwards. It didn't seem to matter how he went, he still couldn't actually leave.

And so it is that a tired, frustrated, and possibly homesick prince may be seen walking back into the Village as the sun is going down, leading his horse beside him.

"A shame. Captivity seems so cruel for one so suited to freedom." It made sense of course, Sampson was a prize horse to steal, and equine injuries were rarely conveniently healed. Stabling would be best for him. But oh, wouldn't it be grand to see him run wild?

She patted Sampson's belly. "Food in a stable would be so much better though, yes?" She broke into a rare smile, animals tended to bring out a softer side in her. "Ah, yes."

Sampson snorted and stamped a foot, prompting Phillip to snort a laugh of his own. "He thinks a warm stable and grain every night is rather preferable to living in the wild."

"We do both enjoy a good run though, don't we, boy?" and Phillip scritched the horse's forehead as Sampson let out a pleased whicker.

Phillip tended to get along better with his horse than many humans, too.

Gia raised an eyebrow. "I'd think lesser of you if you didn't." Though really, as he was a man, there wasn't much less she could think of him.

It was becoming increasingly dark around them and the streets clearing of life, save the three of them. Everyone else had retired to the comfort of their homes and the company of their families. Had she the same luxury, she would have done similarly.

"I suppose I shouldn't keep you from your family any longer."

Something chilled in Phillip's gaze before he shook his head. "Trust me, it's not you keeping me from my family."

No, he blamed the Piper for that.

After a moment, he added, in a less harsh tone, "what I mean to say is that I came here with only Sampson. My family is...back there," he waved in a vague direction that meant somewhere outside of this accursed villiage.

"Ah. Outside." Gia had nothing to escape to, but in the course of her many runs and general exploring, she'd found that there was no 'away' from the general area. At some point, all things led back to the castle and it's surrounds.

"That is most unfortunate for you."

"You have no idea," he muttered before making a rather eloquent shrug before Phillip forced a polite smile.

"At any rate, I really ought to get this one," he gave Sampson a pat on the neck, "to his stall and dinner before he mutinies."
