Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO; Stewart Ackerley && Dean Urquhart
WHEN; After Curfew!
WHERE; The rainy Quidditch pitch.
SUMMARY; Stewart decides to have a late night flight, and bumps into someone.
RATING; lets go with PG13 for now.
WARNINGS; tba
STATUS; complete.

The Ravenclaw common room was littered with parchment and other such things, Stewart shook his head and grinned at the sight, because while they were all known for being smart, being tidy was another thing. Who had time to clean while there were assignments to be completed and essays to be done? Stewart glanced along the emptying common room, his foot tapping while he stretched his arms in his seat. It was getting late but he couldn’t help but think about going out to the Quidditch pitch to fly a little bit. After all, wasn’t curfew meant to be broken? And he knew most of the prefects that would be making rounds anyway, it wouldn’t be too hard to convince his friends to let him off the hook. Stewart jumped up and waved goodbye to a few of his dorm mates before he ran up to his trunk and grabbed his broom. It wasn’t the newest version of anything but it’d been his, and had always been reliable. With a second glance at the rain outside, he grabbed a cloak and quickly decided that he would need his wand to cast impervius before the night was over. With that he ran out from Ravenclaw Tower, just as the fireplace started flickering.

It was a simple trip out of the castle, the corridors were relatively clear, there had only been one close spot when Stewart had to quickly murmur nox because he had heard Filtch’s wheezy cough. Soon enough he was out and breathing fresh air, his heart buzzing excitedly at the prospect of flying. He didn’t really know what the whole entire school was complaining about, it was just barely drizzling, and it was still warm compared to how cold it got during Christmas. He made a beeline towards the Quidditch pitch, pulling his hood over his head and making his strides longer. He vaguely wondered how much trouble he’d be in if someone caught him in his midnight flight. He wasn’t one to be afraid of authority normally, but he’d had a very long summer and didn’t really feel like having detention or worse so early in the school year. He shook his head to clear his thoughts as he neared the pitch. He squinted his eyes a bit, looking out through what was now mist, as he saw someone else out this late.

Dean had been lying in his bed thinking, which he had started to do a lot of. Unfortunately he couldn’t stop thinking about how angry he was at Sam, so finally he decided to give up and take some sort of break from it. He was going to go flying that always cleared his head. He pulled on a pair of jeans and a shirt and sweater; he picked up his wand and his broom, shoved his beanie hat on his head and adjusted his glasses. He headed on out of the dorms and the common room and made quick work of navigating the halls as silently as possible. He did not want to get caught out as it would only make the situation worse. So he stopped moving when he thought he hear someone, but managed to get to the quidditch pitch in good time, unfortunately he was not the only one there.

He was very confused on who would be out at this time, but then if they had any sort of experience like he had over the last few weeks than he couldn’t blame them. Still it was a little strange to see them. He looked at them as he cast impervius on himself and walked in their direction, as he neared he realized it was Stewart Ackerley. “Why the hell are you out here?” He asked as he looked him over, Stewart was one of the boys he had looked over a couple of times and he wasn’t about to stop himself right now.

“What do you think I’m doing here, Urquhart?” Stewart said with an apprehensive smile, and made sure his wand was in reach just in case. He really wasn’t worried that Dean Urquhart would curse him, but instincts were instincts and he certainly would not forget that he was face to face with the Slytherin Quidditch captain. He looked around making sure that he wouldn’t be ambushed, and then relaxed fractionally. “I wanted to fly, and you?”

Stewart started to feel less alarmed and took in his company, he’d had Dean in Charms and History of Magic, he’d never really cared too much about his classmate, only known though journals that he was apparently kissing other boys. Stewart smiled when he thought about it, because he could have probably told you that before any of those rumours had started to fly around. It wasn’t obvious but he could just tell. Stewart leaned forward on his broom, his feet sticking slightly in the muddy grass, and nodded once at Dean “So, how’s the charms assignment…”. He wasn’t sure exactly what to say, and the first thing that popped into his head was so utterly Ravenclaw that his face started to blush as he said it.

Okay so his question had been a tad obvious, considering the broom in the boy’s hands. Dean put his wand back in his pocket though as he had no reason to use it, as horrid as he could be he wasn’t about to curse him. Stewart could be fun to rant at, especially if he was willing to listen, the only issue was Stewart to the best of Dean’s knowledge was not aware of his sexuality. Still he could sort of rant at him right? Dean thought perhaps it was better if he didn’t, because he didn’t want to be seen getting to friendly to the Ravenclaws, but then nobody was around to see. This thought brought a smirk to his lips because that could mean he could do other things and nobody would now. He at first wanted to smack himself for thinking like that, but then he also liked the idea of getting back at Sam. One problem was the guy gay? Well Dean had a small feeling about that particular matter and he hoped he was right.

“I wanted to clear my head, got a problem with that?” Dean really did need to clear his head and stop thinking about Sam and that disgusting girl. He didn’t even want to think of them kissing or touching. Dean wanted those lips for his own, but apparently he couldn’t have that.

Dean laughed a little at the next thing out of Stewart’s mouth, and when he saw him blush Dean couldn’t help but find it cute. He went back to his thoughts of Stewart and things they could do. Stewart had played the staring role a couple of times in Dean’s dreams and on only one occasion in the midst of snogging one of his girlfriends. He would rather not admit that though, still his blushing was cute. “It is done sort of I guess. I half ass just about everything academic.” Dean said with a shrug of his shoulders.

“No problem, sort of the same with me. But do you normally come down here at night?” Stewart bit his lip, running out of things to say. What did one say when you suddenly meet a classmate you never talk to in the Quidditch pitch? He stopped leaning on his broom, and held it up in his hands, stretching as he normally did when he was nervous or bored. He wasn’t sure how long he was going to talk to Dean, it didn’t seem polite to run off, and they had already started a conversation. Besides, Dean didn’t seem so terribly bad. For all the things he’d heard about the Slytherin he felt quite at ease standing beside him right now.

He ran his fingers though his hair and raised his eyebrow at Dean’s response. Stewart was a slacker by Ravenclaw standards, but a good student by other standards. He’d never really half assed an assignment, rushed it maybe, but he’d make sure it was worth the mark he wanted. Stewart was intrigued. And the more he talked to Dean the more cool he became. He wasn’t like Stewart’s ex boyfriend by any means but he did have a certain quality that reminded him of Tucker. “So do you want to walk alone, because I can just go and fly-” Stewart wasn’t sure why but he was hoping that Dean would invite him to walk or try to keep the conversation going. Suddenly flying didn’t seem as important.

“Not normally, it has happened more frequently, but last time it wasn’t so pleasant.” Dean said as if it was no big deal, but then why did he bring it up? He was pissed off with Sam that was why. He almost felt like outing him to the entire castle just to prove his point. He knew things about Sam only a handful of people knew. He knew what Sam did behind closed doors, and a lot of it had been with him. Just thinking about it made him want it again, and he hated that feeling.

Dean shrugged his shoulders as he moved to walk. “Well you can come if you want too.” He said this as if he didn’t care, and honestly he wouldn’t mind the company. Dean really needed the company, which was why had spent last night with Morag. This time it was with Stewart, which was a bit of a strange thought but he was happy about it oddly enough. Stewart was the next best thing to Sam, and he would stand by that. The guy was gorgeous, and blonde. What wasn’t there to want? Sam was more a dirty blondish brown, but Dean still thought Stewart’s blonde hair hot. “Be warned, I’m grumpy as hell.” He looked at him and actually caught himself looking at Stewart’s lips.

“What wasn’t so pleasant about last time? Did you trip on a Blast-Ended Skrewt or something?” Stewart rolled his eyes, the level of sarcasm in his voice was obvious. He didn’t dislike Dean but he wasn’t about to drop it and have a different personality because of it. Stewart grabbed at his hair yet again and wondered where this late night meeting would go, would they just simply talk? And did Dean know that he was gay? He didn’t exactly go though the trouble of keeping it a secret, in fact quite the opposite, but he didn’t shout it from the rooftops and wear neon colours. Some kids knew and some kids didn’t, and he was wondering if Dean did know, but still felt comfortable with him. All things aside, a smile crossed Stewart's face when Dean agreed to a walk.

Stewart laughed when he heard Dean say he was grumpy, it was such a literal example of how one was supposed to be grumpy. He really couldn’t help but laughing. He started walking and then paused slightly, biting his lip again as he did so often and decided to bite the bullet before they had started talking and then when Dean found out about his orientation, he might possibly freak out. “Uhm, look, I know we just started talking but, I don’t really hide it, I… like blokes.” Stewart nodded again at Dean, appraising his reaction and wondering if he should put his hand on his wand to counteract a curse from the Slytherin. Some people just... didn't accept gay people.

“Oh you know, someone showing up whilst I was kissing someone, and them getting this wise idea of having all three of us get up to no good. Really I would rather not with a Hufflepuff.” Dean said with a groan, the whole idea of that night grossed him out. He had no issue with three guys, had it been someone like Stewart it would have been hot, but Booth was a definite no. Still no was the time to focus on Stewart and this walk, and Dean didn’t have a hard time doing either.

“Why the hell would I care if you like guys? In any case it would make me more inclined to talk to you.” Dean realized what he said after he said it, but just shrugged it off. What ever if Stewart admitted he liked guys it would be decent enough for Dean to say it sort of in return. “So yeah the fact I like guys is sort of well not common knowledge so don’t spread it around.” He said looking over at him. Dean felt surprisingly comfortable telling Stewart this, and it might have to do with the fact Stewart was gay as well. One thing it did do for sure was make Dean’s urge to kiss Stewart that much more apparent.

“Ugh some Hufflepuffs I could honestly do without,” Stewart said with a look of distain across his face. He couldn’t even imagine someone doing that to him, he wouldn’t stand for it. It wasn’t that he didn’t think that wasn’t attractive just the fact that your partner would do that to you really made him sick to his stomach. Who pulled that shit?

He felt like he could breathe again when Dean responded, it wasn’t that he needed approval from anyone, just that he really liked Dean so far, and he hated when people would act odd for no reason whatsoever. But he was surprised that he was gay also, there was something there obviously, but for Dean to just come out and say it to somewhat of a complete stranger was really admirable. “Don’t worry Mate, I wouldn’t even think about it. It’s your decision to say it when you want to say it.” He walked more his chest no longer heavy now that they had gone though the actual talk, but something was still bugging him from before, in fact making him upset. Who was Dean here with the other night? He wasn’t jealous, but he really was starting to hate the guy. He wanted to give him a piece of his mind or something, you just don’t do that to people, especially people you’re supposed to care about.

“I know, and this one in particular.” Dean shook his head at the thought of Booth, but he was happy to hear that Stewart was on the same page about some of the Hufflepuffs at least. He was rather pleased to see that side of Stewart because it made him all the more attractive in his mind. He still wasn’t sure if he could trust Sam anymore after all that had happened.

Dean was glad to hear that Stewart had some sense about the matter of coming out. Dean was sick of the people he told just being all say it is no big deal, but really it was. Dean wanted to he did, but he wanted someone there with him to encourage him and be there for him. As much as he didn’t want to admit that, but he wanted to be in some sort of relationship before he said it. “Thanks Stewart, you are like the only one that has had that attitude.”

“The prat would be my dormmate who isn’t gay,” he stressed the isn’t as if it was a funny matter. “He says he is bisexual. Though from what I know I’m the only guy he has been with, and apparently wants to experience more. Now he is dating some girl, so I’m a little more than pissed off.” Dean sighed as he finished and looked back at Stewart, “hence me being grumpy.” He gave a sort of smirk and looked away.

“Who wouldn’t have that attitude? For everyone that says it isn’t a big deal it really is, people treat you differently and sometimes it’s better to just not deal with it. And even then it’s a personal decision.” Stewart’s sarcastic laughter filled the air. It’d been his choice to be open with everyone, and he’d had to deal with exactly what that entailed. It wasn’t exactly praised in the wizarding world, or boarding schools, “I’ve learned it’s better to not give a fuck about what people think.”

Stewart kept quiet when Dean went on about his roommate, he could guess that it was Samuel Harper, after everything Megan Jones had been saying in the journals. He just bit his lip and kept his hand in his pockets even though he wanted to reach out and comfort Dean however he could. It hurt just hearing about it. He’d gone through something similar last summer because despite how he’d felt about Tucker there’d always be another girl, and Stewart would always be his fall back to mess around with. And it was horrible, that feeling. Stewart just looked at Dean and bit his lip, unsure of what to say. “Well… that’s crap. You don’t deserve that.” Stewart walked behind Dean and hesitantly placed his hand on the other boy’s shoulder, debating on doing what every instinct in his body was urging him to do.

“I know they do, and I know they will treat me different.” Dean said as he looked back over to him. Dean didn’t want to be faced with the looks, the comments, or peoples ‘advice’ on it just being a phase. Dean bloody well knew it wasn’t a phase. He would come out when he was willing and ready, and it all depended on whether he had someone to be close too. Dean knew it sounded sappy but to have the comfort of a boyfriend would make it all the more easy on him.

“Care what people think? Nah I don’t really, more I don’t want to listen to the people’s comments and snide ideas. Not to mention the comments about it just being a phase. Bloody hell I would know if it was a phase or not.” Dean sighed as he shook his head. He wanted to come out mainly to get it over with, but he didn’t want to deal with the shit that came along. Dean never cared what people thought about other aspects of his life, asides for quidditch, so why would he care about what people thought of him being gay. Okay so it was sort of a like he kind of cared.

Dean was about to say something back when he felt the hand on his shoulder. He was surprised how warm it felt, but it did stop him from walking. Dean turned to look at Stewart and weakly smiled, it was the most he would get out of it. “I..uh thanks.” He said as he moved his arm to brush his hand away, but stead of removing it from him he just head the hand. Why was his body urging him to do things that he didn’t exactly want to do? Wait no he did want to do them, just he was surprised he was thinking of being so bold about it.
