Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger
WHEN: Wednesday afternoon, before dinner
WHERE: Gryffindor Boys Dorm
SUMMARY: Hermione had good news for Ron and bursts in on him when he's not quite decent.
RATING: PG? Not even
STATUS: Complete

Ron was exhausted. Well, that was a bit of an understatement. Ron was completely drained of all energy. After his last class, he had gone to the library to return a Quidditch book he'd taken out recently on famous plays and how to apply them to your team and now, he was finally heading back to Gryffindor for a bit of relaxing before dinner. He'd do his homework later. Maybe.

On the way to the tower, Ron had seen a group of third years fighting in the halls and so he had to perform his prefectly duties and give them detentions. He didn't want to, it seemed like one of the boys deserved what he got, but he knew if he didn't Hermione would lecture him until the sun don't shine.

Even more extremely tired, Ron finally entered Gryffindor tower, not bothering to see if any of his friends were in the common room. He made a beeline for the dorms and hoped they were empty. When he entered his room, he saw that was indeed void of people, and so, he began to take off his uniform, intending on lounging around in some jeans and a t-shirt until dinner.

"Oh." Ron said softly, feeling yet another blush (probably the millionth that night) rise to his cheeks. "Alright then. Good. Right. That's good." He said, feeling suddenly quite nervous. She was standing really close and complimenting him and she looked adorable and smelled really good and it wasn't helping him to concentrate on not being a babbling idiot.

He looked up at her from his spot on the edge of his bed and had to use every ounce of strength in him not to kiss her because he knew he'd get slapped or hexed if he did and he knew she didn't want to kiss him.

Noticing the awkwardness that was beginning to settle in around them, Hermione took a step back from him. Perhaps giving him a bit of air and space would quell his embarrassment a bit. Besides, being as close as they had been moments before were unnerving and even she was feeling the effects from the hug and when he touched the locket around her neck. Unabashedly, she couldn't help but wonder what it would have been like to let that hug linger.

Blushing herself, she cleared her throat before looking at the door. "I should go and find Harry," she said suddenly, grasping onto the idea. Having a firm plan usually put her mind and nerves to rest. "So he can know how well he did as well."

"Oh sure." Ron said, letting out a rather large breath that he didn't know he had been holding. Why did he always get like this around Hermione? He wasn't twelve years old... girls should not make his palms sweat and his stomach flutter. He always felt like he had butterflies in his stomach when Hermione was around (completely manly and ungirly butterflies, mind you).

"Yeah, go find Harry. Give him the good news." He agreed, rubbing the back of his neck, a nervous habit he'd had since he was a kid.

Biting her lip again, Hermione looked at him for a moment longer before nodding. Though she wouldn't have minded staying for a bit longer, things always seemed to escalate one of two ways: her and Ron either grew incredibly odd with one another or they'd start a row. And really, she didn't want either to happen.

So, instead, she gave him a small smile before giving a bit of a wave. "I'll see you at dinner, then," she said and turned to leave, closing the door quietly behind her. Once outside, she was finally able to release her own breath of air.
