Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Ron Weasley and Hermione Granger
WHEN: Thursday evening, after dinner
WHERE: Hogwarts grounds, out by the pitch
SUMMARY: Hermione and Ron take a walk and do a bit more than talk.
RATING: PG-13?
STATUS: Complete

Ron's head had been flooded with thoughts and dreams about Hermione lately. And they weren't the innocent type of thoughts and dreams, either. Stupid teenage hormones. He'd been waking up in the middle of the night, sometimes the morning, after these intense dreams and he was plagued with worries that his dormmates would hear him. He'd even taken the precaution of casting a silencing charm the past few nights just in case. It wasn't his fault, really. He was in love with Hermione and he was bound to have those kinds of dreams about her. He just wished they didn't happen in the middle of a dorm filled with four other blokes.

Still, when they'd both had a bit of free time after dinner, he suggested going for a walk. He'd been a bit more blushy than usual around her after having the dreams but he wasn't about avoiding her. He loved being with Hermione and a few dreams where they were engaged in passionate activities wasn't about to stop him from seeing her. Wrapping his cloak tightly around him as they neared the castle doors leading outside, he offered his hand to Hermione, wanting to touch her in some way.

Hermione had barely had time the past week to notice Ron turning more and more red in her presence and had simply thought it was his natural reaction to something. Sure, she had been meaning to ask him about it, but hadn't found the time or a delicate way to put it - just in case it was something embarrassing. Because she had been so busy, she had neglected spending a lot of time with him, so, when he suggested they go for a walk, she took him up on his proposition. Her ancient runes homework could wait another hour.

Wrapping her scarf around her neck, she looked down at his outstretched hand and placed hers in it, instantly noticing how bigger his was in comparison to hers and how rough the pads of his fingers were. She knew it was because of all those hours on a broom and she rather thought it was nice and fitting. The cold, Scottish air hit them when they stepped out the door and she had to repress a shudder, using her wand instead to do a quick heating charm on herself and her shoes, especially.

"Christmas is definitely close," she said, reaching for something to start a conversation with. "It's getting colder and colder every day."

Ron too noticed how nice Hermione's hand fit in his, how perfectly it seemed to fit and how soft and small her hands were. Squeezing her hands slightly, he took in a breath, shivering slightly at the cold but finding the warmth from her spreading through his fingers and up his arm. He looked around and wondered if it would snow on Christmas like he loved. It sure seemed like it would with how cold it was.

Ron nodded in agreement to her statement, looking to the sky briefly as they exited the castle. "I'm excited for the holidays." He told her. "You're coming to the Burrow for Christmas, aren't you? Like always?" He asked hopefully, looking at her and giving her a soft and hopeful smile. When she didn't go to the Burrow for Christmas in 6th year because they'd been fighting, it just hadn't been the same.

"Oh," Hermione sounded, put on the spot momentarily with his question. "I haven't decided what my plans for the Christmas holidays are yet." She had been weighing her options carefully, but had yet to decide which was the best option.

"I mean - well, of course I'd love to come to the Burrow," she said before Ron could get upset by her lack of agreeing to his proposition straight off. "But I haven't written to mum and dad about what their plans might be, and I partly feel like I should spend time with them this year. Then another part of me wants to stay at Hogwarts because it is our last year." She hoped he understood why it was difficult to make a decision; she had so many options, but was unable to choose.

"Oh," He said, disapointed she hadn't been planning to come to the Burrow right away, especially now that they were together and it meant even more. He understood she wanted to see her parents and all but she could at least come for some of the holiday.

"Even if you go home to see your parents you could still come for some of the holiday, 'Mione. Please. I don't want to spend the entire holiday without you." His words were sincere, he really didn't see how'd he'd go all of the holiday without seeing her. He missed her enough already and they saw each other everyday.

Hermione couldn't help the frown that spread across her face. "You assumed that I wouldn't have at least stopped by Christmas Eve or Christmas day to exchange gifts with you and Harry, and the rest of your family?" How could he even begin to assume that?

"Even if I do go home and stay at my parent's, that doesn't mean I wouldn't allocate some time to come to the burrow to see you and everyone else," she stated, albeit almost matter-of-fact. "I'm sure your mum would be putout too if I decided to not come at all anyway."

"No, I knew you'd come for a bit, I meant a week or so when I said some of the time." He explained. He knew she would at least show up, he just hoped it was for more than just a day or two. He wanted her there the whole time but if that wasn't possible, he'd settle for some of the time.

"I just can't picture the majority of the holiday without you. You know how much I love Christmas and I love you too so both have to be present." He told her with a grin, giving her hand a squeeze and moving so they were standing beneath a big oak tree near the Quidditch pitch. It was rather secluded and very nice.

"Oh," she sounded again, taking that new information in and processing it. He wanted her to stay more for just a day or two. "Well, I suppose if mum and dad are okay with it, and Ginny doesn't mind having an extra person in her room, I can stay for at least a week." She knew her parents would be okay with it, they always were, but she often worried that they thought she enjoyed being at the Burrow more than at home. Which was partially true, but she still loved her parents and wanted to spend just as much time with them as she could.

"I'll be expected to be home on Christmas Day, you know that, but I'll write to them tomorrow and make sure they haven't planned anything during the holidays that I can't afford to miss."

Ron immediately smiled at her answer, happy to hear that she was going to try and make it happen. "Brilliant!" He exclaimed. He really did love Christmas... he became like a little kid, all excited and bouncy and if the girl he loved couldn't be there, he'd be heart broken.

Moving to stand so he was leaning his back on the tree, he tugged on Hermione's hand so she was standing in front of him, facing him and he reached to take the other hand as well. It was rather cozy, the two of them out there alone in the cold. Well, the cold part wasn't but that could be easily remedied. Smiling, he reached up and tucked a curl that was blowing in the wind behind her ear.

"You're beautiful, you know." He said, not feeling insanely crazy by admitting that anymore. He could do so freely, though his cheeks still pinkened slightly.

At his exuberance, Hermione smiled, letting him pull her closer as he stood with his back to the tree they were under. It was colder in the shade, but it was nothing that another warming charm couldn't help. When he tucked a strand of hair behind her ear, she resisted the urge to duck her head and let it fall back down to cover her cheeks which were reddening slightly.

She wanted to object and say that he was partial and biased, but held her tongue. Hearing someone say that she was beautiful was nice. She knew she wasn't as pretty as all the other girls - she was a bit awkward and her hair was too bushy, but it was still nice to hear someone taking notice. "Thank you," she said finally, assuming that that was what she was supposed to say as she tugged gently and playfully at his hands.

Ron was slightly surprised that she didn't protest to his compliment and just thanked him for it. Normally she'd tell him she wasn't beautiful, that he had to think so because he was her boyfriend. He noticed her slightly pink cheeks but he blamed it on the cold mostly, Hermione rarely blushed, or, is she did, she never let him see it.

Still holding her hands, he leaned forward and gave her a gentle peck on her lips, not wanting to push it any further after the last time he'd given her an innocent kiss (on the neck, mind you) and she'd taken it the wrong way. He didn't want her to feel uncomfortable but he wasn't about to not kiss her at all so a chaste kiss would have to do.

When Ron leaned in to kiss her chastely, Hermione kissed him back gently. But when he pulled back after their lips had barely had time to linger, she was a bit surprised. She had expected something different, something like the night before, but then remembered that she had told him to take things slow and to not rush things. Though she didn't want to rush things, perhaps he had gotten the wrong idea?

Glancing around, she noted that they were relatively secluded under the tree and that there were only one or two other students outside because it was getting colder as the day progressed. Gathering her courage, Hermione then looked back at Ron and leaned in to kiss him again, this time properly. She let her lips linger against his, enjoying the feel of them against them and how warm they felt before gently moving her lips.

Ron, pleasantly surprised by Hermione's choice to do more kissing, reacted immediately, dropping her hands and moving them up to encircle her tiny waist through their many layers of clothing. Suddenly, he no longer felt cold. Actually, he was beginning to feel rather warm and he suspected he had Hermione to thank for that.

Ron knew Hermione was nervous about going too fast or seeming like she didn't know what she was doing because he'd had more experience than her but he could safely say that all of her concerns were rubbish. She was brilliant at this and he wasn't surprised, really. Hermione was good at everything... snogging was no exception.

Though she would never, ever admit it (even under Veriteserum), Hermione had thoroughly researched how to properly snog someone during her fifth year. It was during the stint with Viktor Krum and she had felt intimidated and inadequate due to their age difference and didn't want him to think that she didn't know how to kiss right. There hadn't been many books in the Library on the subject - more just defined what a kiss was (the touching of a set of lips to another, generally shared by a couple) so she had to resort to several of the romance novels the girls in her dormitory were prone to read. Another thing she wouldn't admit? She rather liked them and they taught her more than she would have originally thought they could.

Sighing softly when Ron finally responded and held her closer, Hermione rested her hands against his arms. She stood on the tips of her toes to make it easier and less of an awkward angle for him.

It never occurred to Ron that Hermione might have read up on how to kiss. Okay, so maybe it sounded like something she would do but he just assumed she was a natural at it just like she was at everything else. He hoped she thought he was good at it too. He knew the opinion of some other girls but those opinions and those girls didn't really matter. All he cared about was what Hermione thought.

Lifting on hand up from her waist, the other resting on her hip, he cupped her cheek lightly, running his fingers over her skin. Merlin, this was brilliant. Absolutely brilliant. He'd never tire of snogging Hermione ever. He'd do it all day if she'd let him. He didn't have to lean down as far because she was on her toes but it was also because he was leaning against the tree. Sometimes it was hard being taller than everyone. Snogging could sometimes be painful on his neck.

Though she wouldn't say anything unless asked directly by Ron - and in which case, she would likely be too clinical to make him feel better and more confident - Hermione thought Ron was a very adequate kisser. She hardly remembered what it was like to kiss Viktor, but for arguments' sake, she definitely thought Ron ranked above his by several points.

Gaining her own confidence and allowing herself to get lost momentarily, Hermione let her hand slip behind Ron's neck. Her fingers played with several strands of hair before resting idly, unsure whether or not she should have done that or if he liked it.

As soon as Hermione's hand went up around his neck and began playing with his hair Ron couldn't help the small groan that escaped the back of his throat. She'd never done something like that before and it felt really good. He was sure that having her run her fingers through his hair would always be a weak point for him.

Hoping he didn't freak her out with his involuntary groan, Ron continued to kiss her, bracing himself for her pulling away and being disgusted by him. He hoped she didn't take his sound the wrong way as it was just as innocent (well, maybe a bit less innocent) than the kiss he'd given her on her neck that one night.

Hermione wasn't disgusted by the sound he made. Far from it, actually. She didn't realise she could evoke such a response out of him and felt empowered by it - not to mention a bit curious too. So he liked it. That she could manage and deal with. She ran her fingers back into the hair at the nape of his neck, using her nails gently against his skin and paying close attention to any response she was given.

She wasn't sure where the courage to do this came from, but she enjoyed being with him like this just as much as Ron did. So long as they weren't caught and accused of flashing too much public display of affection around, that is.

Ron was very thankful that Hermione didn't seem disgusted by his sound because really, he couldn't help it. Hermione did that to him. The frequent sex dreams he'd been having proved that. He couldn't control his response when it came to her. Everything she did seemed to light a fire in him.

When she thread her fingers into his hair again and lightly raked her nails against his skin, he let out another groan, his grip tightening on her waist quite noticably. He wasn't sure what had gotten into Hermione or why she'd changed her opinion from that night in his dorm to now but he wasn't complaining. The moment she told him to stop, he would. Reluctantly, of course, but he would.

What had gotten into her, indeed. While she wasn't entirely sure why she was letting things progress further than the other night, she could at least speculate. It was likely because she wanted learn all of Ron's little niche's now; what he liked and didn't, and what caused certain reactions - both positive and negative. It was the way her mind worked; she was always scientific about everything and had to observe it and study it with a critical eye. Even as she continued to thread her fingers through his hair, she made mental notes about his reactions.

However, she eventually needed to pull back for a breath of air. When she did, she kept her eyes closed for a few seconds longer as she took several calming breaths.

Ron sucked in a huge breath of air when she pulled away as well, panting quite heavily and looking at her through half-lidded eyes. "Hermione, I..." He began, needing to catch his breath. His voice was husky and low because of the kissing.

"That was brilliant! I... Merlin." He said, his breaths coming out unevenly as he tried to calm himself down. Running a hand through his hair, he grinned at her once his breathing regulated again.

At the change in his voice, Hermione looked up at him. She gave a small smile, waiting patiently as he tried to get out what he was trying to say before smiling more and ducking her head. She had to concur though. It really was...brilliant, for lack of a better term.

"Did I do okay?" she asked finally, looking up at him again. "I mean, it sounded like you liked me running my fingers into your hair, but - and I don't know if I'm really saying this right, but it sounded as if you did."

"Okay?" He asked increduously. Hadn't he just said it was brilliant? "I just told you it was brilliant. If there was a word that meant brilliant times a thousand I would have used that one." He told her with a grin, stroking her face lightly.

"'Course I liked it. Didn't you hear the sounds I was making? That wasn't because I was in pain, you know." He told her, teasing a bit but feelig his face heat up.

Hermione's heated up just as more from embarrassment at asking such an obviously ridiculous question. Nodding, she ducked her head again and bit her lip. How was it possible that he could make her forget things and become fuzzy headed with just a few simple kisses? Viktor hadn't done that, she remembered, so why was it different with Ron?

Making a mental note to think about that later (a mental note she now worried she might forget), she picked at a piece of lint on his shirt before letting it fly away with a small gust of wind.

"I know, I just - I felt that I had to ask just in case," she finally said, glancing up at him. "Nevermind though, apparently I'm just being silly and ridiculously repetitive."

"Hermione," he began, his voice still low, "you must know how you make me feel..." He was sure she had known. He'd told her several times how much he loved her. He wasn't sure why she seemed to be insecure about this when she wasn't about anything else.

"I love you. I think about you constantly. And snogs like that will be imprinted in my brain for decades, trust me." His words were sincere and his gaze was loving and he was feeling terribly mushy at the moment.

She knew all that. Really she did. The reasons for her asking such questions was to ensure that a) she was doing it properly and b) she was doing it the way he liked. After all, according to her research and the books she had read on the subject, not every person was the same in what they liked.

So, she nodded, letting him know that she understood. He was being really sweet about it, she had to admit that, if but a little mushy as well - something that did make her smile a bit.

"Thank you," she said finally, standing on the tips of her toes and giving him a chaste kiss again.

He thought it was rather endearing that Hermione needed a bit of reassurance on something that clearly came naturally to her. She was good at everything but she was still human and doubtful, he reckoned she just didn't show it sometimes.

"What? No 'I love you, too, Ron'?" He asked, pouting his lips dramatically, teasing but wanting her to give in. He hoped his pout had the same effect on him as hers did. Every time she bit that bottom lip of hers, he could barely focus on anything else.

Ron could always be relied upon to do a number of things, two of which were always getting under her skin and pressing her buttons, as well as knowing when to break the tension after a serious conversation or an awkward moment. He didn't disappoint either and she gave a small laugh.

"I love you, too," she said, gently nudging his arm before pulling away from him. She reached down and tucked her cloak in closer just as there was a small gust of wind. "We shouldn't stay out here much longer," she advised. "Neither of us are dressed properly and don't have any gloves on."

"I could keep you warm." He told her, a mischievious glint in his eyes and a grin on his face and he reached out and tugged on her waist so she was closer to him. Leaning down he placed a kiss on her cheek.

"Seemed like I was doing a pretty good job a minute ago." He said, teasing her lightly and not meaning anything but fun by it. He was grinning cheekily, his hands wrapped around the small of her back.

Resisting the urge to roll her eyes at such a comment, Hermione laughed and shook her head instead. "I've no doubt that you'll at least attempt to," she said, not missing a beat and letting herself be tugged in closer. He was, indeed, warmer, but she knew that part of the reason as to why she wasn't as cold as she could be was because of the warming charm she had placed on her earlier. The question, however, was did she tell him that or simply play along?

"You were doing okay," she said lightly, giving another small laugh. "Warming charms are also nice."

"Yeah, but it was mostly me." He said, continuing to grin and keeping his hold on her waist. He leaned forward and gave her another small kiss before a gust of wind went by and make him shiver.

"Alright, yeah, it's getting too cold. Reckon we should head in before it gets worse." The reluctance to leave their little secluded spot and the warmth of her arms was evident in his voice but he knew it was time to go in.

She nearly interjected and said that it was actually the spell, but held her tongue. She'd let him have his delusions - they seemed to make him feel better and it kept things light between them. Better than fighting, really. Returning the chaste kiss, she felt him give a shudder as the wind blew again.

Hermione looked up at him and gave him an I-told-you-so look before stepping away from him and pulling her cloak tightly around herself again. "We have bee out here long enough," she said and shrugged her shoulders. "Besides, we both have work we have to do and I have rounds later this evening." Hesitating for just a moment, she reached for his hand and gave it a tug. "Come on."

"Ugh. Two things I hate: homework and rounds." He said as he stood from her spot leaning on the tree and wrapped his cloak tighter around himself as well before taking her hand and squeezing it.

"Good thing I don't have rounds tonight." He said nodding; he didn't feel like doing them at all. He smiled as they walked back towards the castle and knew, for the next few nights even, he'd have to cast a silencing charm on his bed because there was no way he wouldn't be dreaming about what had just happened.
