SUMMARY: Ron and Ginny attempt to open Fred and George's package without any injuries.
RATING: PG? Not even.
STATUS: Complete

After finishing up his journal entry and examining the package for several minutes as it sat on the foot of his bed, far away from him, Ron decided it was best to take the plunge and try to open the damned thing as long as he had a bit of help. So, on a mission, he went in search of Ginny, one of the only other people in the world who understood the dangers of Fred and George and had the uncanny ability of predicting their next move.

Using his wand to levitate the package to be safe, Ron bounded down the dorm stairs and towards the common room. He stopped at the bottom of the staircase and looked around, hoping Ginny was already there and, when he spotted her by the fire, he walked towards her, package levitiating in front of him.

"Oh, yes," she gasped. What did they want now? What did they do to deserve this?

Ginny thought of last night with Harry in the Room of Requirement. Ah. Yes. That could be something worth punishing to a puritan mind.

"And remember the time with the ink that splattered?" She grabbed Ron's arm and pulled him around behind the couch. "We unwrap it from over here. And then duck."

Ron crinkled his nose when he pictured that ink splattering mess. So much grief at the hands of his twin brothers. What they did to become the twins' guinea pigs, he'd never know. Probably just being born did it.

Looking at Ginny from behind the couch, he nodded. "Alright, yeah. Sounds safe enough." He agreed, peering at the box a moment. "Wait, maybe we should run a diagnostics spell before. Like those ones Hermione did on Harry's Firebolt way back when. You know, just in case. Give us a heads up."

"Right," Ginny agreed. With an innate confidence, she aimed her wand at the package and called out three spells--she winced as she did, waiting for whatever hex Fred and George had planned. We have Slytherin looming...and they decide to start the punishment now. Thanks, brothers.

The package just sat there.

She looked back, chewing on her lip. "I suppose...it's...safe?" she said hesitantly.

Looking from Ginny to the box and back again Ron took a deep breath and nodded, raising his wand and pointing it at the package. "Okay, here goes." He said as he called out a spell to unwrap the paper and then scrunched his eyes shut as he waited for the impending explosion.

Nothing happened.

Opening his eyes slowly, he peered over the sofa and saw the box sitting there quietly, unwrapped, yet completely normal. "You don't think... They sent a normal package?" He asked in disbelief, moving out from behind the sofa and towards the table where he stood over the box and stared at it.

	Ginny darted forward, carefully picking out a card. "Just the first bit of luck! Beat Slytherin," she read, throwing her head back and laughing as she noticed that their brothers had sent them Chocolate Frogs, hopping to spell "Constant Vigilance!" Ron looked perplexed for a few moments, wondering how it was possible that Fred and George sent him a regular package and then, finally realizing the humour of it all, burst out in laughter just like Ginny, grinning widely as he did so.

"Bloody brilliant." He said happily, plucking a chocolate frog and popping it in his mouth. "Well, that's a suprise. Not complaining, though."

	Ron shrugged, chewing on his chocolate frog and enjoying every bite. They were his favourite sweet by far. "I dunno. I'd be worried they'd tear the mickey out of me if something went wrong during the match or whatever." Again he shrugged slightly, smiling. Ginny hopped over the back of the couch, letting the chocolate melt on her tongue. "We're going to win; no team trains as hard as us. Look at my arms--Kat's got the best aim of any beater in Hogwarts," she said dryly, showing the bruises on her biceps. "They'd be right proud."

She smiled fondly. "I always knew they'd find what was exactly right for them. I know Mum would have preferred they be like the others, with a more 'respectable' job...but they are incredibly more successful than anyone else combined, don't you think?"

Ron nodded along, agreeing that they did have a pretty brilliant team. Though he'd never admit it to Harry, it was mostly because of him. Yeah, he was tough and all that but he was a great captain and he trained them well for the matches. Plus, he was the best seeker around.

"We're going to win that cup this year. Well, we better win it." He said, finishing off his chocolate frog. "Mum wishes they both had Ministry jobs but they're better off the way they are than if they worked at the Ministry."

	"They'd bring down the Ministry, which--before, would have been spot on, but now...I think it's headed in the right direction. Kingsley is a wise man, he's doing it right." Ron nodded along with the Kingsley statement and the fact that Ginny wouldn't want to work at the Ministry. He couldn't see her at a desk job of any sort.

"Only thing I'd do for the Ministry would be Auror, obviously. Maybe even Department of Magical Games and Sports. That's about it though." He reached out and plucked another chocolate frog. "Anything else and I'd probably go mad."

He could see Ginny playing Quidditch as a career and he just hoped she gave him tickets to her matches and didn't forget the little people when she was big and famous from it. Ron shrugged, knowing that him and Harry had more experience with that stuff than some of the Aurors that were already trained but he didn't have the grades and that was important too.

"Harry's in for sure. I'm not so sure about me." He said sadly, knowing there was a chance they may not take him. "I doubt Hermione wants to be an Auror. She doesn't seem like she'd like it."

	"We'll see." He responded, thankful for her confidence in him but still unsure himself of whether or not he'd get into the Auror program. It was very tough and he didn't think it'd matter what he'd done in the war... on the applications he was just a number. "Hermione's brilliant. She'll save the world one person at a time." 	Ginny quick glanced around, seeing that they were alone on their side of the room. She loved to tease her brother, even in public--but not about everything. 	Ron immediately flushed red, not being able to stop it if he could. "Oi! Proclaim it to the world, why don't you?" He said, lowering his voice and looking around to make sure no one heard.
