Previous Entry  Add to memories!  Tell a Friend!  Next Entry
WHO: Septy and Ceddy.
WHEN: VALENTINE'S DAY.
WHAT: A trip to St. Mungo's!

He knew it, he just knew it! Cedrella was sick before, and hadn't done anything on the matter, and of course she was sick again! And Septimus had told her, he had said for her to go and get looked at by a healer. But did she? Of course she didn't. And now, Septimus was on his way over, leaving the broom behind entirely and deciding to Apparate instead. It was quicker and Cedrella didn't like riding on the broom, anyway.

After telling Cedrella to be ready, or as ready as she could be, Septimus slipped on his cloak and grabbed a handful of knuts and sickles, just in case. Sliding his wand into his concealed pocket, he slid out the door and with a CRACK, he'd gone. The plan was to sneak into the house, and by any means necessary, get Cedrella out. How well it would go was yet to be seen.

So maybe it wasn't really a good idea that Septimus had just gone without telling Cedrella. Probably, it was a really bad idea that Septimus now knew he would never, ever try again. You gotta learn from your mistakes somehow, thought Septimus, as he immediately hunched to pull back Cedrella's hair (she would be upset if it was ruined) and tried to remember every scrubbing charm he knew that would right his shoes (he couldn't afford another pair at the moment).

..She really was sick, no denying that.

"All right," he said quietly, deciding to let things go simply out of horror. If it was anyone else, anyone else, they would have gotten an earful, but since it was Cedrella..And since she was sick and Septimus knew it, and since she seemed so upset about The Incident herself, he just shrugged it off. Septimus carefully tucked her hair back behind her ears, nodding his head, shaking off his shoes and pulling out his wand. After a cleaning charm or two, they were good as new, but that wasn't the real concern. "Let's get you in, then," he added, putting his arm around her shoulder and moving on to St. Mungo's and into the reception area.

Fellow visitors were seated at rickety chairs destined to fall apart without the aid of magic and the tables filled with outdated issues of Witch Weekly and the Daily Prophet. All of these things caught Cedrella's eyes and she walked past them with Septimus by her side. Healers in lime green uniforms scurried in and out of the room, not meeting the eyes of any one person as they sought to do their jobs and get out quickly.

The couple approached the reception desk, where a witch with wispy, grey hair and violet eyes sat with a quill in hand. "Which one o' you'se is the patient, an' what's the matter wif ya?"

"I'm sick," Cedrella stated matter-of-factly. As if that wasn't clear enough by her sudden presence at the hospital, but Cedrella wouldn't make much of a fuss. These people were supposed to help her, and they wouldn't do much helping if she was unpleasant.

The witch gave her a withering look and she turned away for a moment to shout, "Jilly!" Almost immediately, a round-faced woman, perhaps around 30 years of age, popped around the corner. Especially excitable, this Jilly clasped Cedrella's hand in her own. "Don't you worry, dear," she gurgled, and Cedrella was reminded of a pleasantly-surprised baby. "We'll get you all sorted out. Step this way," she directed Cedrella and Septimus towards the elevator, and once inside pressed the button labelled '2.'

"While we're not sure what's the matter with you, we're almost positive it can't be anything more than a bug. I mean, you're walking about just fine!" Queue a cheerful giggle, which provoked Cedrella to glance wearily at Septimus. She was tired and ill, and this woman was beginning to grate on Cedrella's already-frazzled nerves, and yet she would have to play at pleasantries with this woman. Cedrella grasped Septimus by the hand and squeezed tightly--whether for comfort or to stop herself from strangling the overly-cheerful Healer, no one could tell.

Trying his absolute best to hide his expression of complete horror at the sight of the round-faced, overly joyous woman, Septimus followed Cedrella silently. While he'd never been to St. Mungo's on his own, he knew the procedure. They would go up and Cedrella would be brought to a room and depending on the problem it would take maybe five minutes or maybe ten minutes or maybe longer. And, while Septimus knew that Cedrella's ailment was nothing serious, he still felt like it could potentially be something terrible.

Probably, it wouldn't. It would be the muggle flu, at the most.

But maybe..

On the second landing up, the nurse led the both of them down another corridor, following a series of rooms on either side. Septimus, growing more and more ill-at-ease with even being at St. Mungo's (It could be something terrible and she could have waited too long and now it could be too late...), still managed to squeeze Cedrella's hand and really, he didn't immediately want to let go. The nurse, Jilly, led them into a room marked "Seven" and instructed the two of them to wait just a moment before leaving once more.

The room was small, and it wasn't at the end of any ward. It was an examination room, illuminated by the windows and the magic so obviously enchanted onto the building itself. "Are you all right?" asked Septimus, encouraging Cedrella to have a seat on an examining bed.
