Entry tags:char: weasley twins

Who: TWINS (with a cameo from the pups)
When: Early morning
Where: Twinville
Rating: T - for Twins
Summary: Shenanigans... craziness, who knows?

Ten feet padded - well, technically, two feet and eight paws - softly on the floor leading to the room at the end of the hall. The owner of the feet turned to the two puppies following him and made a shushing motion with his finger to his lips before turning back to the door and opening it ever so slowly. Peering inside, a devilish grin spread on George's face as his eyes fell upon his still slumbering Twin.

"Okay," he spoke in a very soft voice as he crouched down and addresses the puppies. "He's still asleep so here's the plan. We sneak in... not yet, Guinness," He paused, putting a hand in front of one of the pups. "We sneak in. You two climb onto the edge of his bed... and then pounce."

The puppies wagged their tails, seeming to like the plan. George pushed open the door and the puppies obediently went along with the plan, sneaking in and climbing on the side of the bed (with a little assistance from George). He held up his hand and counted to three and then the pups pounced and initiated a Puppy Attack on their victim - licking, nudging and generally bothering the sleeping Twin awake.

Fred was dreaming of a massive chocolate cake in the shape of an elephant when he felt something soft squirming its way under the duvet by his neck. A cold node nudged against his face and he was covered in puppy kisses before he could even blink himself awake properly. 'Puppy breath...' His nose wrinkled, why did puppies smell of onions? Every puppy he knew had oniony breath, what the hell was in their food?

Still not completely awake, he made a soft grumbly noise in the back of his throat when one of the pups licked at his ear. It was unusual... Olls did that. The burrower -probably Caffrey- settled on his chest and a little whine eminated from the puppy, followed by a meaningful nudge to his chin by a snuffly nose. 'Alright, m'awake.' Fred looked down at Caffrey, slipping his arm round him, to cuddle him for a minute.

His free hand found Nessie and he scratched behind the more playful puppy's ears. Squirming to sit up a little he finally greeted his Twin, by sticking his tongue out at him.

George chuckled at Fred's nose wrinkle and clambered onto the foot of the bed, letting the pups continue to wake his Twin. He grinned back at his big brother, not bothered at all by the abnormal greeting.

"Morning Forgie." His voice was almost sing-song, which was kind of weird for George because he was never really a morning person - unless there was something he was excited about, then he took on the personality of a little kid at Christmas. Today was an exciting day, it would seem.

He bounced a little on the bed as he shuffled up it and moved to sit next to his Twin, Nessie coming over and plonking himself on George's lap - making himself at home. "I had the most brilliant idea ever." George began, he speech pattern getting quicker the more he spoke. "We should have little bat-shaped biscuits... like the Canary Creams... only battier. You know, for Halloween. We could have mini bat people running about the shop. And maybe pumpkin tarts that turn your head into a pumpkin for a few hours."

Guinness headbutted his hand a little, trying to get a pat, which George happily obliged. "So, how 'bout it? Halloween treats? Good, yes?"

'Morning Greddie.' Fred tilted his head, much like the pups did when they were confused. His Twin was bouncy that morning, which meant either he'd had too much sugar or he was excited about something. George wasn't usually very good in the mornings. Neither Twin was really, but Fred managed to be a little more coherent than his little brother usually.

Grinning a little as his Gred settled beside him, Fred watched Nessie claim his place on George's lap and waited patiently for the inevitable explanation. He knew where his Twin was headed as soon as bat shaped biscuits were mentioned. Nodding along as George continued his rushed words; Fred's grin grew. 'Brilliant!'

He shifted again, looking for his notepad which was usually always within his reach. Frowning when he failed to find it under his pillow, he glanced at the bedside table and stretched out to retrieve the pencil and book. 'The biscuits could be chocolate flavoured...' He scribbled down some notes on how to tweak the Canary Cream recipe for purpose and grinned. 'Anything else?'

George's grin widened when Fred said his idea was brilliant - it was always a little thrilling to have one's ideas liked. Of course, Fred and George were usually on the same wavelength about most things and they rarely disagreed over an idea's brilliance.

He nodded, waiting till Forge had something to write their ideas down on. George rarely wrote things down - probably because whenever he had an idea he'd immediately seek out Fred. He found he thought better in the presence of his Twin because they could share ideas and bounce them of each other.

"Costumes," George piped up as soon as Fred asked if there was anything else. "Trick costumes like the hats that turn people's heads invisible. And..." He paused, brain ticking over to a new idea. "We need costumes!"

That was George, always jumping quickly from one idea to the next without seeming to slow down so they all seemed like one big idea to someone who didn't know what he was like. Thankfully, Fred had always been able to keep up without getting frustrated with him. Because when people get frustrated with George he tended to become rather snappy - hating the fact he had to slow down.

"We should have a week long party at the club. Costume contest. Winner gets... free drinks from Pretty."

'Costumes!' Fred beamed, mind running ahead a little and devising all sorts of tricks related to altering your appearance. 'Wings. Lici always wears fairy wings... maybe something that actually gives you fairy wings for a few hours?' He tapped the end of the pencil against his chin. 'Or Butterfly wings. Just decorative ones...'

Scribbling again in his book, he made a few more notes and drew a rough diagram of the shape wings he wanted. Had to cater for both genders after all and he was certain the bat biscuits would be bought mostly by the male persuasion. 'Already have ideas for our costumes. Can either tie in to Never Never Land... so Peter Pan, Hook, Crocodile, Pirates, Lost Boys.'

Stroking Caff absently as the pup yawned, he let his mind drift some more. 'Or superheroes. The Muggles could join in with that too. Get all the staff dressed up. Pretty, Nine, you, me... even Olls if we're busy. Pretty's been teaching him cocktails.'

"Maybe some spider legs for boys." George added, looking over Fred's shoulder as he wrote his notes. "Could attach them like the wings only they'd be creepy spider legs instead." He pointed out a bit in Fred's notes, Guinness giving a little snort at losing the hand that was patting him. "You could add an animation charm to make the wings or legs move."

A pondering look appeared on George's face at the suggestions, weighing the pros and cons of each. "Superheroes wear masks." He blurted out almost randomly. "Hide identities better. But then with hidden identities we might get some unwanteds coming in." The unwanteds were of course members of the Ministry, who would throw the Twins in Azkaban if they knew the place existed. But then, it could bring in some clientele that had been too afraid to venture into the club for fear of being recognised. Some people just were not as bold at standing up to the Ministry as the Twins were.

"Either idea is good," George leaned back against the headboard. Nessie moved further up to sit on his chest and George resumed patting him. He smirked over at his Twin in a cheeky manner. "After all, either way Pretty is going to have to wear tights."

'Mmm spider legs. Maybe wolf ears and tails?' The pencil scratched across the paper as he sketched, annotating each drawing and marking up ingredients lists. as George spoke, he adjusted bits here and there, nodding as his Twin pointed to the page. 'Uh huh. Got it. Should be simple enough, couple of days in the lab, tops.'

He let his Gred process the suggestions. Either would be good, but if they were doing a week long celebration -actually Thursday to Monday would be better- then they would need at least a couple of different themes. 'Unwanteds would get turned away. Sneak-o-scopes at the doors would see to that, along with security.' He gave his Twin a sidelong glance. 'Masks would mean some people would feel more comfortable about being out in the club anyway.'

Mirroring the smirk, he nodded. 'Pretty in tights is a bonus at any party.'

George nodded his agreement. In his opinion all their ideas were brilliant and he was getting more excited by them by the minute. Just the idea of making the items seemed utterly fantastic - George loved working in the lab on new projects.

"Oh yeah," he had briefly forgotten about those details in regards to keeping unwanteds away. George noticed the glance and could take a very good guess as to who his Twin was thinking of. "Could make for some interesting pairings in the hero world." He gave a little shrug before adding. "Hey, do you think we should include villains as well?"

He chuckled a little, causing Nessie to give a look that said 'stop moving, comfy'. George grinned a little at the pup, playing with his ears. "Ta-da! Bat-dog." He held Nessie's ears out gently. Guinness shook his head, causing George to drop his ears, and looked at Fred with a look that said, 'you're Twin's crazy'.

'How about today and tomorrow in the lab? Hopefully we'll have the new stock ready by the weekend.' Turning the page, he scribbled a new ad, showing his Twin for approval. 'Send this to the kiddies at Hogwarts and drum up some more business.'

His Twin's relationship -not that he'd ever call it that out loud- with Flint was complicated. 'Mmm, very interesting.' Fred could sort of see where the Chaser was coming from, wanting to keep things quiet. Olly had been the same to start with. But really Fred saw no problem with the Falcon being gay. Didn't mean he couldn't fly as well as the others in the team did it? 'Definitely. What's a hero without a villain?'

Fred chuckled as Guinness gave him a look. 'Oh I know, Nessie.' He spoke to the puppy, as if he understood exactly what the dog was saying. Which he did, in a way. Patting the pup lightly, he looked down at Caff, who was yawning again and smiled. 'They're so cute.' He mused, completely distracted by the puppies momentarily.

"Not hopefully, we will." George continued to look over his Twin's shoulder at what he was working on. He sounded confident in their ability to get what they needed done in time. When it was something he wanted to do George was quite diligent at the task instead of being a procrastinator like he was in school. In a way, he supposed, the same went for Fred. "Send some to Gin. She knows how to network. I mean, look at the free advertising she gave us when she bought Arnold. All the girls wanted a Pygmy Puff after seeing her with one."

In the beginning of his 'thing' with Flint, George didn't care who knew but honoured the Chaser's decision to want to keep things private. Now he seemed to be getting more... well, involved for lack of a better word, George's analytical brain had seen how his friends and family react to Slytherins. He really wasn't sure if he wanted people to know anymore - that keeping things secret really was best.

But, they weren't going to talk about that. Right now the Twins were discussing other things. Like what's a hero without a villain?

"Unemployed." George replied immediately to Forge's question in a dry tone, his lips going back up into a smirk. He could be quite the smart arse when he wanted to be.

His smirk turned into the soft smile he reserved only for Fred as his Twin spoke to the puppy. George might have been known as the more smiley of the Twins but most of his smiles were filled with mischief, like you knew he had done something you just couldn't prove what. The Forgie Smile was a genuine smile that only Fred ever saw.

"So cute." George slightly parroted. Most of the time he'd do that when he was unsure about something, like he was trying to tap into his Fred side. Although sometimes, very rarely - like right now - he'd do it just to fill the silence.

'Will.' Fred repeated his Twin's affirmation, giving George a little smile. He loved the fact his brother was on exactly the same page as him, but what he loved even more was the little nudges of encouragement his Twin always gave. George was definitely a positive influence in his life and Fred was thankful for him. Of course, if he ever voiced any of those thoughts he'd be called a sap. But Gred would know, he always did, just from that smile. 'Yeah, Gin's good at promotion.'

Smirking at the dry comment, Fred poked his Twin in the side, the most he could manage when being hypnotised by cute puppy eyes. Merlin knew he was a sucker for those already and Nessie and Caff seemed to know it. Little buggers. Glancing at his Twin, he noticed the smile on his face and leaned against him for a second. Being affectionate for once. 'Have you had breakfast yet?' He asked, seemingly out of the blue.

"Send some to her tomorrow with some new order forms." George replied with a small nod, knowing their sister would help them out. The order forms and the ads were the easy part - they could be finished in a few hours tops - the inventions themselves would take a little longer. It was a Monday so they didn't really have to be at the club that night, Mondays generally being slow unless there was an event on.

He wiggled a little at the poke and let Fred lean against him for a bit. Fred wasn't like him, making a show of being affectionate, but it was the little actions that showed George that his Forge cared. However, those actions were rare so George took any affection his Twin offered without question.

The question cause George to frown in thought and then he shook his head. "Nope," His frown then turned into a little smile. "Pups have had breakfast. I wanted to wait for you. So, what do you want?"

Ginny was brilliant at publicity, much better than Ron had ever been. But then, Gin was brighter than Ron anyway. Most people tended to be. Fred fully planned on spending all day, and possibly most of the night, in the Lab. Once he and George had ideas, they made it their mission to produce the finished product as quickly as possible, testing different prototypes on themselves as they went.

Chuckling as Gred wiggled, Fred looked down as Nessie woofed quietly, telling them both to stop fidgeting. Caffrey had already fallen asleep and tiny little puppy snores were emanating from under the covers. Leaning his head on George's shoulder, he smiled at his Twin's words. 'Cake. Maybe pancakes... and bacon sandwiches.'

George chuckled lightly at the small woof, patting Guinness' head so he settled again. "Aren't you just the bossy pup today?" Guinness just let out a yawn in reply and closed his eyes, content enough to start drifting to sleep.

"And milkshakes to go with it?" George added, sounding more like a question. Fred was the leader of the pair, he made all the important decisions like the breakfast menu. He tilted his head so his cheek was pressed to the top of his Twin's head. "I can make the pancakes... with choccy chips or without?"

Guinness opened his eyes and gave both Twins a look that said 'I'm going to have to move, aren't?' almost as if sensing the Twins were planning on moving. The pup stood and nudged the lump in the blankets that was Caffrey before nosing his way under the covers as if investigating what his twin-pup was doing. Guinness and Caffrey had personalities of their own, although each seemed to inherit a little something from Fred and George.

Smiling, George pulled the covers over Nessie's little form. "So, kitchen? Or have we developed mind powers to get the food to cook itself and then bring itself to us?" There was probably a way they could actually do that with magic, but cooking was one thing George preferred doing the Muggle way. It was the way his Mum did it and food always seemed to taste better when made by hand.

'Bossy Puppy.' Fred chuckled, scratching under Nessie's chin lightly as he yawned.

'Mmm choccy chips, melty.' His stomach growled then, causing Caff to shift slightly in his sleep. Fred couldn't remember eating anything the night before, which probably meant he hadn't had anything since the lunch their Mam had cooked them at the Burrow. If his Twin found out, he'd be in trouble.

Carefully, Fred moved Caffrey from his chest and set him down on the mattress, watching as Nessie curled up beside him. 'Lazy Pups.' He commented, stretching a little before clambering out of bed. Shivering, he almost dived back under the covers, but managed to resist, instead pulling on a jumper that he found on the floor.

'Oh... big... must be Olly's.' Closer inspection showed it to be a part of Wood's Puddlemere uniform and he grinned. 'Mine now.'

George chuckled when he heard his brother's stomach growl, unaware that his Twin hadn't eaten since lunch yesterday. "Hungry Twin." he poked Fred in the side. If he had found out Fred hadn't ate anything George would get a look of disapproval on his face that could rival Molly Weasley's. He didn't like it when his Twin forgot to eat. It worried him.

His movements to hop off bed were a little slower. He had no need for extra clothes having already pulled on one of his jumpers when he got out of his own bed earlier, so didn't feel the cold as much as Fred, but still gave a slight involuntary shiver when his Twin did. The shiver wasn't so much from him feeling the cold but was part of mystery of being in sync as Twins. At least that what George guessed. He could never rightly explain why he sometimes did the exact same thing as Fred at the same time.

He looked up at the jumper Forge had pulled over his head, recognising the colour blue. "Looks better on you anyway. Oliver probably has several more matching. One for every day of the week." Oliver, if anything else, loved his Qudditch and was loyal to his team - otherwise why else would he have stuck with Puddlemere for as long as what he had. A lot of people who starting playing at the same time as Wood had at least two, maybe three, teams on their resume by now, but not Oliver. Puddlemere United boy through and through, that one.

A slightly crazy cheeky grin appeared on George's face, on full of mischief. "Race you to the kitchen." He said with a slight childlike carefree tone before racing out the door of Forge's room.

'Mmm hungry Twin, you must be too.' He squirmed away from the finger poking him, chuckling despite himself. Really, being twenty years old, male and ticklish was silly. But Fred was, unfortunately. 'Choccy chip pancakes, bacon sandwiches and 'nana milkshake!' His stomach growled again and Forge patted it. 'Belly agrees.'

Beaming at the compliment, Fred trotted across to the mirror and gave himself the once over. 'I agree.' Twisting a little to see the back, he smirked slightly. 'Name's wrong though, I'm not Wood 1, I'm Weasley 1, or Twin 1.' He laughed at George's comment, the Keeper certainly lived and breathed Quidditch and was loyal to Puddlemere.

Catching sight of the grin, Forge mirrored it, knowing exactly what was going through Gred's mind. As his Twin raced out of the room, Fred chased, haring along the landing at full tilt. He caught up with his Twin at the stairs, but instead of running down them he slid down the banister instead, hopping off a second before colliding with the post at the end.

As Fred listed the food his stomach let out a little rumble. He looked down at it, looking a little stern. "Sssh, you're going to get fed shortly." Yes, George talked to his belly as if it were another person. He was normal.

"I can fix it." George beamed moving over to stand next to his Twin in front of the mirror. He liked being able to fix things. "Charm would work but not permanent. Simple Transfiguration on the thread would make the letter changes stay there for life, unless you decided to use the counter spell." He was pretty good at coming up with spells on the spot. They both were, hence why the shop was so successful. But George always had more of a knack for Transfiguration.

Laughing while they raced, George stopped at the top of the stairs as Fred slid down the bannister. He apparated with a loud crack to meet his Twin at the bottom. It probably counted as cheating but he didn't mind in this instance. He ran again to the kitchen, skidding to a halt as he entered the room.

George immediately went about setting up to make pancakes, getting out the ingredients to make them from scratch. None of that Muggle store bought instant, just-add-water crap for the Weasley Twins.

"Can you make the milkshakes while I get a start on these?" He asked, putting the things he needed into the bowl and mixing them together. He probably had more than enough pancake mix for the pair of them but as their Mum always seem to say when it came to food - it was better to have too much rather than having to starve. Food was the one things the Weasleys never really seemed to skimp out on.

As Gred stood beside him, Forge smiled at his Twin in the mirror. 'Transfigure it then. I'll always need jumpers.' Even if he and Oliver fell out, he wouldn't be giving the top back. It was extra warm and had charms to keep rain and wind out woven into the fabric. 'You decide, Twin or Weasley.' Fred was quite happy to let George change the lettering whilst he was still wearing the top, not afraid that his Twin would accidentally do something to him. Besides, if he did, Forge was excellent at revenge.

'Cheat!' Fred shouted, scampering after his Twin and sliding across the kitchen as his sock clad feet hit tiles. 'Aaah, save me fridge!' His wand was upstairs, under his pillow, so he had to grab hold of the appliance to stop his skid. The Twins, being Arthur's boys, had fully functional muggle appliances in their home. The big rambling place had been owned by muggles previously, so all the wiring was in place.

'Yes. I can make milkshakes.' Snagging the milk from his saviour, he grabbed enough bananas and tipped the fruit and milk into a jug. 'Oh... need my wand.' Running back upstairs, he retrieved his wand and apparated into the kitchen. Tapping the side of the jug to mix up the ingredients, he added some honey to sweeten the shakes then poured them into two pint glasses. 'Done!'

George gave a little shrug as if to say 'well, okay then,' and pulled out his wand and transfigured the name. He settled for 'Twin' because a) there were a number of Weasleys but only two Twins - which was a little more special in George's opinion - and b) because 'Twin' had the same amount of letters as 'Wood' so it wasn't as fiddly because he didn't have to add letters.

"Done." He beamed at his handy work after checking it over. He knew he'd got it right the first time because Transfiguration was his specialty - but it didn't hurt to double check.

George chuckled, watching his Twin skid across the floor in his socks. It looked like fun. He'd have to try it out, but later, breakfast was more important. "What can I say?" George replied casually to the 'cheat' comment. "Am fucking a Slytherin. He was bound to rub off on me some time." And yes, he knew one could take that in a crude context - hence he purposely worded it that way.

He put the pancake mix complete with choccy chips into the pan and left them to cook. When Forge said he needed his wand George went to offer his own but his Twin had already taken off back up to his room. George shrugged and turned back to the pancakes, flipping them over magically with his wand. It was too early to go hunting about in the drawers for a spatula.

He had a small pile of pancakes going by the time Forge announced done. "Yay!" He cheered, reaching over and grabbing his milkshake a taking a sip. "Mmm, 'nana and honey. Pancakes are nearly done. Though I think I made too much." He gave a little shrug, not really worried about having left overs. They could have pancakes for lunch too. "You still wanna make the bacon sandwiches?"

'Excellent!' Twisting to look at his Twin's handiwork, Fred grinned. The jumper looked much better now.

'Rub off on you.' Fred parroted the words as his Twin was prone to do. His nose wrinkled as he got the double meaning and he paid his milkshake far more attention than was necessary. Standing at Gred's side, he watched his brother flipping pancakes for a moment.

Sipping his drink again, he wandered over to the cupboard to get plates. Setting them on the table with cutlery, he thought over his Twin's words. 'Pancakes first, if still hungry, bacon.' He scratched the side of his neck. 'I'm sure there won't be any left when we're done.'

George chuckled a little at his Twin's nose wrinkle, knowing that one of the meanings of what he said was probably a little too much information for his Forge. The Twins weren't really the type to discuss the nitty gritty details of their sex lives with one another. Oh, sure, they knew what the other got up to but there was a line where the information just stopped.

Finishing up the last of the pancakes, George looked over his shoulder at his Twin when he spoke, giving a little smile. "Very hungry Twin," he murmured softly, almost as if in deep thought. He turned back to the pan and took out the last pancake before switching everything off and leaving the pan to cool. He'd throw a spell at it later to make it wash itself up.

"Okay, pancakes are done." He carried the large plate with the high stack of them over to the table before plonking himself down in his usual seat. He began loading up his plate and then stopped as he remembered his milkshake on the kitchen bench. "Milkshake." He blurted out, summoning it to his outstretched hand.

He sipped his milkshake happily and looked to Fred. "Dig in, Forge. Get 'em while they're still warm. Choccy chips still melty."

Fred most certainly did not know everything about his Twin's sex life. Nor did he want to know. That was why at certain times he made sure he had his Twin sense switched off. After waking up a few times feeling a lot hornier than he should have; he soon gathered when it was appropriate to shut down the strange link they shared.

At Gred's muttered words, a guilty look crossed Forge's features. He knew George worried about him when he forgot to eat and from the thoughtful tone in his Twin's voice, Fred knew his brother already had a vague inkling that he'd skipped dinner last night. As Gred declared the pancakes ready, Forge smiled again, settling in the chair opposite his Twin.

He watched for a moment as George loaded his plate, sipping his milkshake again. Both Twins had good appetites, for the most part, but Fred's was more prone to fading than Gred's. Though when faced with stacks of delicious melty choccy chip pancakes, he didn't really need George's encouragement. Loading his plate with most of what was left, he started to tuck in, humming in delight at the taste. 'Best pancakes ever, Twin.'

Gred knew Forge was more prone to skip a meal than what he was and he supposed the worry he felt over that fact was inherited from their mother. Molly Weasley never liked anyone to go unfed, especially her children. However, unlike Molly, George never nagged his Twin brother when he forgot to eat - just sent him a few worried looks so Fred knew he didn't like it.

A satisfied grin appeared when Fred praised his pancakes, humming a little around his own mouthful in agreement. "So what do we need to make the Halloween pranks? Have we got everything in the backroom?" George was always rather excited to start on a new project and the Halloween ideas that they shared earlier looked promising so he wanted to start as soon as possible.

'I'll try not to do it again.' Forge mumbled, answering the feeling he was getting as well as the silent looks. He knew his Twin worried and he hated the fact his actions caused that. But sometimes he couldn't help it. He'd always been the more careless of the two.

Talking with his mouthful, Fred answered Gred's question, mind automatically providing him with a list of ingredients and their stock levels of such things. 'Lacewings, billywig stings, werewolf fur... might need more of that, I'll ask Oz to sweep his cage floor.'

Swallowing, he took a sip of shake before devouring some more pancakes. 'Think we have everything, should go straight to the shop after brekkie.'

At the mumble George just shrugged, letting his feeling of worry drop. He knew Fred would try, just to keep him happy, but he also knew what Fred was like. George would do what he normally did and that was to be the more careful one and make sure Fred didn't do anything too reckless.

As Fred rattled off the list, George was counting in his head the monetary funds needed for each item. Most of the time they were able to find items they needed or were able to get them for nothing - like the werewolf fur from Oz. But there were still some things that they needed to pay for and that's where George's ability with numbers came in.

"Billywig shipment is on order. Won't be in till tomorrow cause it has to travel from Australia." At that point he paused, taking a sip of his shake and gave a little knowing look. "Yes, I know I could get them from the farms in Scotland but the stingers always turn up frozen cause Scotland is too cold for the billywigs. Costs a little extra to get them shipped over here but it's worth it." George liked to source the best for his Twin to work with if they were financially able to get it - which in most cases they were. "As for the lacewings we can pick them up on the way in at the apothecary."

He nodded his agreement, eating more pancakes till his plate was empty. "Don't think I have room for a bacon sandwich." George sat back and patted his belly. He probably could eat a bit more but he was too keen to get started on their new projects.

Fred nodded at the explanation about the Billywigs. He knew his Twin only wanted the best ingredients for their Wheezes and Forge liked to work with the highest quality supplies they could afford, which was usually quite a lot. 'Yeah, we'll get a few other bits and pieces from the Apothecary too. I need to make a new batch of burn salve. Used up the last pot yesterday.'

The burn ointment tended to get used frequently on the run up to Guy Fawkes' night and New Year. Forge liked to make sure he had new rockets for each occasion, selling them as limited run stock. So, while they had Wildfire Whiz Bangs and the like all year round, Champagne Showers and Midnight Mesmerizers only came round once a year.

He fell silent as they both finished off their breakfast, the mountain of pancakes disappearing rapidly from both their plates. Fred mirrored his Twin's action, patting his stomach lightly and nodding in agreement. 'Bacon for lunch,' he suggested. 'Work time now.' A grin spread across his face as he thought about the day ahead. He loved spending time in the back room.

Normally one would worry when someone they cared about mentioned that they used the last of the burn salve yesterday. But George knew that this time of year meant more burns - not just for Fred but for both of them. After all, Fred couldn't have all the fun testing out the fireworks by himself.

"New rockets?" George's eyes lit up with excitement. Anything that made a lot of noise and exploded in sparkles and bright colours was alright in his book. "Better than last year?" He continued to inquire, wondering what ideas Forge had already come up with.

George nodded in agreement to both suggestions, mirroring the grin. With a flick of his wand, the dishes went to the sink and started to wash themselves. It was a handy little spell but if you didn't set a time limit on it the dishes would wash themselves into oblivion - thankfully, George did set a time limit and by the time they got home the dishes would be clean, dry and put away.

He stood from his seat and stretched a little, before running a hand through his hair and ruffling it further - making his red locks more of a mess. "Okay, ready to go."

'New rockets.' Fred grinned with a nod, loving the way his Twin's eye lit up with an excited spark. His Gred loved big bangs and sparkles. Probably why he'd slept with both Flint and Tiger-Lily. 'Well a bit better I think.' A self depreciating smile curved his lips momentarily. 'I don't know, you'll have to give me your opinion.'

His eyes were drawn to the movement as the dishes started washing themselves. He hadn't quite got the hang of that charm yet. He hadn't go the hang of most household charms actually, mainly because he couldn't be bothered to practice them. Mirroring his Twin's stretch (at exactly the same moment), he looked down at his clothing and shrugged. 'Yeah, ready to go.'

So what if he was still wearing pajama bottoms? Nobody came into the work room at the back of the shop if they were inventing. Not even Verity. As for the Apothecary's, he was sure they wouldn't mind, so long as his money was real.

"Probably brilliant." George grinned, his voice filled with encouragement. To him, Fred was the best fireworks making in the universe and despite the fact he was biased he could name quite a number of people who weren't that all thought the same. "We should bring some of the prototypes home and test them out tonight. Weather forecast doesn't appear to be too bad so it won't ruin them."

He let out a little cheer when Fred said he was ready. George didn't care what his Twin was wearing. As long as everything he didn't want to see was covered then Forge could wear whatever he wanted around his Gred. He could even wear a scuba diving outfit with snow boots and a centurion helmet if he really wanted to and George would not be bothered in the slightest.

He reached out and tugged his Twin into a hug - the only warning Fred got that George was going to apparate them directly into the back room. The wards were keyed to only let either Twin past them. Anyone else - including Verity - had to wait till the wards were lowered to even apparate within three feet of the place.

"Need to grab some money out of the safe for Apothecary," George let go of his brother and moved over to the safe, unlocking it with a complicated set of spells and combination locks.

Most of their money was in a vault at Gringotts in their name but they had money for shop supplies in the safe. It was much quicker than having to deal with the goblins. Not that George had anything against goblins, just that sometimes they asked too many questions. "Okay, Apothecary first then work on Halloween items? Or maybe start a few things with what we already have here?"
