Who: Adrian Pucey & open
When: Monday morning, 11/1/98
Where: Ministry cafeteria
Rating: Adrian's big on off-colour language...
Summary: Adrian stops in the cafe for more coffee after reading the Daily Prophet

They had misquoted him. Horribly. They had given the Order a platform to spout more virtuous vitriol. The Prophet was supposed to be the establishment paper, the press they could count on, and now Adrian would probably be tasked with figuring out what went wrong and how to fix it. Grabbing his third coffee cup of the morning - it was already eight, after all, he sat down with the paper to again go over the article. This was all anyone in his office would be talking about today, he wanted to know it by heart and caffeine just didn't do the job his other enhancers did, but being at the office he had to lay off for a few hours. The rest of the Ministry was abuzz about the attack, surely, but what Adrian cared about was how they could leverage it in the press, what they could get out of it. Sure, if the Minister had been killed he would care, but the man was fine, so no harm done. Now was time to take advantage.

Sipping his coffee again, his eyes scanned the early morning crowd, looking somewhat shaken and surprised on the whole. He nodded to a few colleagues he recognized and went back to his paper, having no patience for pleasantries and no steadiness for gazing.

'Pucey.' Oz inwardly smiled at the formality of it all. He thought he'd given up calling people by their last names once he left Hogwarts. But the Ministry seemed to run by the same social rules as the school. Hilarious really.

Watching the other man carefully, he tried not to notice the way he moved, like he was on the edge of something. Oz also attempted to tamp down his wolf senses, ignoring the traces of need running through the man's scent. Maybe he needed more caffeine. He certainly seemed to be cradling the coffee cup like it was his life source.

Shifting in his seat, he drew one leg up, heel on the chair, to rest his chin on his knee. Tapping the side of his mug with black painted nails, he answered the unexpected question. ‘No, I didn’t go. But some friends of mine went. They said it was a mess.’
