Who: Ron and George Weasley
What: A Weasley brand of forgivness... mini-thread.
Where: WWW, Diagon Alley
When: Thursday 19th Jan
Rating: Maybe some naughty words.
Status: Complete

It had taken a while for George to respond to Ron's owl message but he knew Ron was sincere despite the few words he sent. Ron had never been a fan of the written word, especially when he was doing the writing, so George hadn't expected a four page letter of explaining why his little brother was an idiot.

Of course, George had gotten Fred's advice on the matter and decided the best course of action would be to confront Ron face to face. He figured if Ron was the one that wanted to apologise, he had to make the effort to come to him. Besides, any trouble and he was sure Fred or Verity would come out to the back room and back him up.

He was still a little angry about what Ron had said but more than anything he was tired and ready to put it all behind him and move on. So he waited in the back room for his brother to turn up, tinkering with one of the Invisibility Hats - that made the wearer headless - just for something to do.

Ron apparated to Diagon as soon as he got George's reply. He had a break in training luckily, so he wouldn't be told off for skipping out on a session. If he was a little late for the gym afterward then so be it. Family was more important. Something he should have remembered from the start instead of jumping off at the deep end about the fact George's... boyfriend(?) was a Slytherin.

Stepping into the familiar shop, he fixed his gaze at the floor as soon as he spotted Fred, avoiding his older brother as he made his way through the building to the back room. Both Twins had tempers, but he was more scared of Fred; who could be outright nasty sometimes.

Slipping through the door, he let it click shut behind him and looked round for his brother, spotting a headless person in the corner who he assumed was George. 'Erm.. Hi.. I..' Ron shifted from foot to foot, reaching up to brush hair back from his eyes and snagging the elbow of his robes on a shelf corner in the process.

'Sorry I was a prat.'

As he heard the door shut, George licked his lips and drew in his bottom one between his teeth in an unsure gesture - not that Ron would have seen it because he appeared headless at the moment. The awkwardness his brother was radiating didn't go unnoticed but seeing Ron made his anger spike. If only the knucklehead had bothered to stop and think before jumping down his throat they wouldn't be having this conversation, maybe sharing a pint or two at the Leaky Cauldron instead.

Crossing the back room in three easy strides, George quickly reached up and smacked his beanpole of a brother over the back of the head with a hard hit that would hopefully sink in through Ron's thick skull. "You're an idiot," George said bluntly although there was a hint of fondness in his tone.

He reached up and took off the hat and tossed it back to his desk in the corner, ruffling his hair a little to get rid of the ugly flatness that came with hat hair. "Apology accepted, okay?" George looked back at Ron and gave a tired little sigh. "Although, am curious as to what spurred it on. Usually it takes you a little longer to admit you're a prat."

The whack to the head was expected, that was just the way the Weasley siblings dealt with stupidity. Many a time Ron had been on the receiving end of a smack from an older brother. Ginny tended to pinch, or Bat-bogey hex, vicious little harpy. Still, the fact it was expected didn't make it hurt any less.'

'Oww, bloody hell!' Reaching up to rub the back of his head gingerly, he smacked his elbow on the shelf next to him. '..fuckin.. oww..' He recognised the tiniest hint of fondness in George's words and smiled. 'Yeah, I am.'

Ambling a little further into the room, he looked round with curious eyes but made sure not to touch anything. While he'd worked in the shop, he hadn't been allowed out here very often. His clumsiness was too much of a hazard, especially around some of the volatile substances the Twins worked with. 'Flint had a go at Pansy,' he explained, 'she was mouthing off about the Witch Weekly article, saying Flint must have been imperioed. He told her to shut up basically.'

George's eyes darted to the shelf as Ron whacked it with his elbow, watching warily the jar on it wobble a little before stablising again. He couldn't remember the name of exactly what was in it but it gave a mighty explosion when hit with a great force. Like the one it would have received if it had falling off the shelf.

"Careful." He warned, seeing the smile and feeling his own lips quirk up a little in reaction. Everything seemed to be right between them once more and George was pleased. In some ways it was good to have somewhat emotionally stunted brothers, things were easier to forgive and forget.

His smile became more noticeable when Ron explained what Marcus had done. He'd have to look it up in the journals later. "Ha! Nice," He actually let out a small laugh like sound. George leant back against his workbench and gave Ron an 'I told you so' look. "So admit it. Not all Slytherins are evil, are they?"

'Sorry,' Ron carefully avoided contact with any other shelves in the room, smiling a little wider as George did. One thing about their family, once an apology was accepted everything seemed to go back to normal. No grudges were held, at least not that he knew of anyway. Forgive and forget was definitely a phrase designed for the Weasley boys. Ginny, not so much.

A little chuckle escaped him at his older brother's outburst. A laugh was good, it was always a sign of normalcy with either Twin. Fred and George were never serious for too long. Rolling his eyes at the look he was given, Ron nodded. 'Alright, they're not all evil. some are OK. Though I only know of two now, Flint and Verity.'

He tilted his head, a little puzzled furrow appearing between his brows. 'So... do you like, like him?'

George waved off the apology, accepting it right along with the last. How Ron ever managed to get into Auror training was beyond George. After all, his little brother had the grace of a raging bull in a china shop.

At the eye roll, George's look became more smug. No matter the situation, George loved being told he was right. "I don't know. Wizengamot is still out on Verity." George shrugged, his tone light so Ron could tell he was joking. "She can be quite the wicked little minx when she wants to be. Don't be fooled by her cute looks."

The question caught George a little off guard and he didn't respond straight away. "What do you mean by 'like'?" He asked, a furrow of his own appeared between his brows and his arms folded across his chest. "I mean, once you work beyond the three word sentences and the expression range of a statue, he is not a bad guy." It was the closest George would admit to liking Marcus at present.

"You should meet him." George suggested, trying to sound offhanded about it but hopeful that Ron would take up the offer. He wanted his family to at least give Marcus a chance by meeting him and getting to know him rather than just assume because of rumour and speculation.

"I don't think he is quite prepared for the full on Weasley onslaught just yet. Although, pretty sure no one could be... ever." He joked a little to hide the fact he was nervous to 'bring Marcus home', so to speak. "But I guess meeting you all one by one would be okay."

The tips of his ears burned red as George mentioned Verity's looks. He had noticed how cute the blonde girl was and been fooled by her probably. She reminded Ron of Tonks, especially with her pixie haircut. Only less clumsy. 'I'll be vigilant, as Mad Eye says.'

He shrugged at the question George threw back at him, listening as his brother continued before responding. 'Well, y'know, you must like him if you're spending time with him.' He rubbed the back of his neck, almost shrugging again. 'Time not in the bedroom or whatever.' His ears burned again and he looked away from George. He was completely unqualified for this sort of talk, but unfortunately he was curious. Flint had to mean something to his brother for George to tell the family about him, surely?

'Meet him?!' Ron tried not to sound nervous at that prospect, 'think he'd sign my Chocolate Frog card of him?' He shook his head then at his own words, chuckling nervously. 'Maybe not, too geeky for a first meeting.' Nodding at the suggestion, he leaned on the edge of the work bench. 'One at a time would probably be best.'

Normally at the first sign of their little brother blushing, the Twins would give him hell for it. But George, showing that he was in fact the gentler Twin, chose not to comment on it this time and only nodded in agreement with what Ron said.

A thoughtful look crossed George's face as he considered Ron's logic on the matter. It was pretty basic and in a way, made sense. He gave a non-committal shrug before offering a smile. "Alright, I'll admit. I actually enjoy spending time with him." Although, there was no way George would say most of the time he spent with Marcus was in the bedroom... or a room with a flat surface. Ron probably didn't want to know about that. "There is more too him than most people assume."

George actually chuckled at Ron's slightly fan-boyish question, already imagining how that would go over in his head. "Maybe, but you never know. He might sign it for you." He nodded, reinforcing the idea of Marcus meeting one sibling at a time.

"Well, there is a Hogsmeade weekend coming up soon. The fourth and fifth, just before Valentine's." George took it upon himself to find out when all the Hogsmeade weekends were so Fred and he could advertise in the town to the school kids. "Was thinking maybe introducing Ginny on the Sunday. That is if Marcus is agreeable and not too tired from kicking Chudley's arse on the Saturday." He smirked in a cheeky manner, although, it was a more sober version than he usually gave. "If you're good. I'll see if I can get you a ticket."

Watching his older brother, he grinned as George shrugged, nudging him lightly with his elbow. 'Thought so.' Sometimes he wasn't as emotionally shallow as a teaspoon, unlike Hermione's musings to the contrary. 'Probably, but he does a good job of sending out the 'keep away' vibes. So noone gets to know.'

A bright smile crossed his features as George mentioned the possibility of an autograph. 'Brilliant!' Nodding as his brother went on to talk about Hogsmeade visits, he scowled briefly as his Quidditch team was dissed, but then let out a weary sigh. The Canons never beat Falmouth. 'A ticket would be great. I might be working though.' He pouted then and looked at his watch. 'Speaking of which, I should get back. Physical conditioning session calls.'

Pushing himself off the bench he gave George a quick hug. 'See you soon.'
