oshlie on the train home
WHO: Ollie Wendell and Ashleigh Barton
WHAT: Ollie & Ash on the train
WHERE: Hogwarts Express
WHEN: June 2006
RATING: G, probably.

It was probably an understatement to say that Ollie had been worried about Ashleigh a lot over the past month. He'd gotten her to eat and she even slept so long as he was able to hold her, but she still wasn't his normal Ashleigh. She was broken and she was stressed and he really didn't like it.

A big part of him wanted to punch that jackass of a Slytherin for doing this to her. The only thing stopping him was the thought that it would only upset her more. He focused his energies, instead, on taking care of her.

They'd met in the common room earlier, Ollie slipping an arm around her as they made their way to the leaving feat. There was no way around going, but he tried to keep her focus away from the Slytherin prat's table by whispering in her ear and holding her hand the whole time.

Now, they were getting settled on the train. Somehow, they'd managed a compartment to themselves and Ollie pulled her close against him as they sat down. His fingers threaded through her hair and he pressed a kiss to her forehead.

"How are you feeling?" he questioned her softly. He was pretty sure he knew the answer, but the point was really to get her talking. He couldn't reassure her if she didn't talk about it.

Her breathing was still a little labored when he sunk into the seat at her side, but she looked up at him with a large smile. For the first time in days, the expression on her face was genuine; she wasn't forcing or faking it. The nausea had returned, but her mind was still reeling from the kiss they'd shared.

"Thanks, Ollie," she answered as he handed her the crackers and slipped his arm around her.

If Ollie was feeling awkward, Ashleigh didn't notice. She cuddled into his side and rested her head on his shoulder as soon as he was settled. It felt good to be close to him, and she truly meant to follow through with the suggestion that they snog a little more once they'd eaten some crackers
