Application Post
So, you want to apply to [info]marvel_nextgen? Great!

A few things first.

Alternate Universe and Time displaced kids are welcome. As are totally original characters. Not every mutant or Avenger is going to have parents that were mutants or Avengers. So feel free to use your imagination!

While we gladly accept applications for X-Men and Avengers, we encourage applications for Eternals, Defenders, Inhumans, Asgardians, and other characters off the beaten path.

We also welcome Canon kids. IE Franklin Richards, Luna Maximoff and older versions of any super kid. Like say, Power Pack, Valeria Richards, Kevin Masterson, Ahura Boltagon and the like. Also adult versions of any Canon Teenagers are welcome. As are canon characters and villains in their adult incarnations. (Ie: Julian Keller, Kate Bishop, Tommy Shepherd, Billy Kaplan, Nico Minoru...)

We're taking advantage of the wonderful sliding timeline policy of Marvel, so if your character's birth date/age doesn't quite work out, it can easily be modified.

Please give us at least 24 hours to look at your application. We will email you when the app is approved. Once it's accepted, you can jump right in. If we have any problems or questions with any applications we'll contact you for clarification.

In some situations a sample with another player may be required.

The game focuses on the next generation of heroes and the kids are the ones out being the superheroes. The adults for the most part are starting to retire and passing the torch to the kids, so if you are looking to play an adult, be advised that in this game they are mostly support roles and plot devices.

The process:
The first step is to fill out an application.(Please check with the team admin to see if there is room on the team you want to join)
Your application will be reviewed by the mods.
In the case that you are applying for a character on a team, the application will be reviewed by the team members.
If your character is related to another character in the game, the relatives will also get to review the app.
A mod will notify you if it has been accepted, declined or if more information is needed.
The mods may ask you to clarify certain things (concept, powers, purpose) in your app. This is nothing personal, it is just the mods and team members trying to better understand the app.

Some basic rules:

1. If you are apping a sibling/parent of a character in the game, the player(s) of those characters get approval/veto rights on the app. We require you to discuss the character idea with the other players before apping the character you want to play. If you don't know who is playing a certain character please ask a mod. The list of characters and their relatives is here

2. If you are apping a cousin or other distant relative to a character/characters already in game, the player(s) of the character gets to review the app and provide feedback.

If you can't contact a player, feel free to contact the mods and we'll answer any questions you have!

3. Please do not give names, gender or ages to siblings of canon-pairing characters. This is to allow greater flexibility for people interested in picking up a sibling or parent. A vague reference like "Character X has three other siblings." is fine.

It is okay to give names, gender and ages to siblings of characters who have non-canon parents.

4. Apping Characters just to "hook up with someone" - Please do it somewhere else. This is a game for people who are interested in more than just hooking their character up with another character. While it is natural for characters to start dating and otherwise participate in physical relationships, it should not be the main purpose of the character and it is not the main focus of the game.

We accept applications for heroes, villains, parents and other adults.

We will accept applications for Original NPCs (Next generation of - Brotherhood of Evil Mutants, Masters of Evil, Serpent Societly, MLF, etc) seen here.

Notes:
Xavier's is not publicly known as a place for mutants. There is an underground in place to direct mutants to Xavier's.

Avengers are listed in the phone book and publicly known. Characters can directly contact them.

Player (nickname, handle)/ LJ: Dylan
Email: zylly108@sbcglobal.net
AIM (if you have one): Zylly108
Character Name: Ásleif Thordottir
Character LJ (if applicable): [info]godlierthanthou
Physical description (face, build, weight): Asleif is slender, approximately 6 ft 1 in tall and 400 lbs. She has dark brown eyes and dark, curly black hair.
Age: 25
PB: Mia Sara

Abilities (Standard Asgardian ability set):
Super Strength: Aslief can press/lift up to around 30 tons.

Superhuman Stamina: Like all Asgardians, Asleif’s muscles produce considerably less fatigue toxins during physical activity than those of humans allowing her to operate at peak levels for longer periods of time.

Superhuman Durability: The tissues of Aslief's body are also considerably harder and more resistant to injury than those of a human. She is immune to all known diseases, and resistant to most poisons.

Superhuman Longevity: Aslief, like all other Asgardians, isn't immortal in the same sense some other god pantheons. Asliefages at a pace far slower than a human being. The consumption of the Golden Apples of the goddess Idun is essential to an Asgardian maintaining their physical vigor, though Asliefhas not yet had to ingest any of the apples so far due to her young age.

Regenerative Healing Factor: Despite her high resistance to injury, it is possible to injure Aslief. If injured, her body is capable of repairing damaged tissue with much greater speed and efficiency than the body of a human being. Serious injuries such as missing limbs can only be healed by magical means.

Superhumanly Dense Tissue: As with all Asgardians, Aslief's skin, muscle, and bone tissues have 3 times the density of the same tissue in the body of a human being, contributing somewhat to her superhuman strength and weight.

Exceptionaly Strong Will The Aesir are gods, and possess much greater than human will, being resistant to most manner of possession, mind control and similar effects.

Aesir: Aslief can speak English, German and a number of the languages of northern Europe, but is primarily fluent in the language of the Norse gods, she also has some fluency in the languages of the other races of Asgard.. When she speaks, all listeners understand what she's saying in an archaic version of their own native language, hence the Norse gods speaking middle English.

Magic: Aslief is an extremely skilled magician (well on her way to becoming one of the most powerful magic users in the relm) and possesses powers that can be divided into several categories.

1) Mental abilities: These include the ability to astrally project, hypnotize weaker minds, create convincing illusions, and levitate objects.

2) Energy manipulation: The ability to manipulate ambient magical energy fro a variety of effects, including personal flight, magical energy blasts, energy shields, and teleportation.

3) Spell casting: Aslief possesses knowledge of a number of enchantments that she can use. These include spells of transmutation (like turning a person into a frog), animation (bringing a statue to life), as well as some of the other tradional Asgardian magics, both of Aesir and Forst Giant heritage. She expressly does not possess human magics, like the Rings of Ragador or the Crimson Bands of Cytorak.

Other Abilities:

Combat training: Though extremely lacking in comparison to her siblings, Aslief does know her way around most basic weaponry, including swords, staves, axes, and bow and arrows and their usage. Of all of those, she is most adept with staff fighting.

In addition to her own magical training, Aslief is extremely conversant with objects of a magical nature and their usage.

Weapons: Aslief carries an Asgardian staff that she sometimes uses to direct the effects of her magic, though it is not, in and of itself, magical, though being made from Asgardian wood, is several times more durable than one made from earthly materials.

She will, in time, be gaining a staff and amulet of certain magical powers, after completing the necessary quests (and trials of humility) to gain them.

Weaknesses and flaws: To say Aslief is arrogant is to say water is wet. To say that she has people skills is to say that the ocean is dry. She's haughty, arrogant, full of herself, looks down on mortals (and frankly, nearly everyone else for that matter) and is far too ambitious for her own good. She's also the least skilled of her siblings in physical combat, far prefering to rely on her magic.

Character location/Home: Asgard, then Avengers Mansion/WCA Compound
Alignment (villain, hero etc): Hero
Relatives (living/dead?): Thor Odinson (father), Sif (mother), Einmyria (mother), Aridis (half-sister), Svalin (Half-sister) Halbjorn (brother) three other siblings, Odin (grandfather), Frigga (step-grandmother), Loki (step-uncle/grandfather), Heimdall (uncle), Jord (Gaea) (grandmother), Atum (uncle), Vidar (uncle), Balder (uncle), Eisa (Aunt)

Backstory: (Doesn't have to be too detailed.) The co-eldest of the siblings (alongside Svalin), Aslief, well, it was said when she was born that she had much of her Grandfather, Loki, in her. A certain look in her eyes even from the time she was but an infant. There were some who said she was cursed, that her fate would be to follow in his footsteps.

Nevertheless, she was given the same upbringing as her siblings, the same teachings, the same skills. Asleif never did, however, quite pick up on the same level of ability or even the love of adventure that her siblings did. She instead prefered to exercise her mind, to engage in mental challenges of intelligence and trickery. And, of course, the pursuit of magical power.

While her three siblings were having grand adventures, she was studying her magics (though she did join them for a time or two, usually complaining about how they were going to get her killed or how she could be doing better things with her time), becoming quite acomplished in a short amount of time. Some said too short a time to have been natural.

Asleif saw herself as the natural heir of Thor. The first born--her name literally means "god heir"--but to her lasting annoyance, she seems to be the only one to recognize this fact, with the greater attentions going to her siblings, especially Svalin.

How do you plan to introduce the character to the game?: Asleif and her siblings are sent to Migard (Earth) (in her case, partially under protest) to learn what it means to be a true hero and to fulfill a prophecy.
What are you planning to do with this character? What do you want to see happen with this character?: Asleif and her siblings will first start with the Avengers and eventually form a team based out of LA and called the Defenders. They have their own immortal and very strong enemies. They will also be helping out the Avengers when necessary. She will have a quest or two to acquire a magical staff and amulet.
