The crash jostles Reed around, stunning him a bit. When his senses get back to him, he sees that Sue is gone and hears Ben crashing through the door.

"Ben, are you alright? Where's Susan?" Reed reaches out to Ben and touches his shoulder. It takes him a moment to realize how far his arm has stretched to reach Ben. A moment later, he feels his whole body change, as if all his bones have disappeared. Reed slips through the harness and falls to the floor, crumpling there. He feels both horror and fascination as he looks down at himself, trying to gain control.

Ben's shoulder is rock hard, literally. "I... I dunno..." he mutters, his voice growing more gravelly and deeper even than usual.

"What's happenin' ta me?!" he bellows, the last sounds breaking into a scream of pain as the transformation really sets in.

"Reed..." A form of bright orange flame emerges from the ship. "Reed, where's Sue? She just vanished."

"What do you mean, where's Sue? I'm right! I... I'm invisible!"

She couldn't help the panic in her voice. She couldn't even see herself. Even her clothes disappeared! Her heart beat erratically. She moved from Johnny's side to Reed's, but before she could even touch him her attention was diverted to Ben.

"What's happening to us?"

"Thought I told ya ta stay outta trouble." Nick Fury walked down the ramp of the SHIELD transport that landed a moment ago not far from the crash site.

He cupped his hands around the cigar in his mouth and lit it. "Figures ya wouldn't listen to me."

Nick knew Richards wouldn't let the project drop even after Nick told him it was over. Hell, Nick was counting on it. He wanted to know what happened to the other astronauts as much as Richards did.
