This is how easy it is to slip up @ 06:25 pm

[info]needsmorecoffee:

Marcia Martin is pretty amazing when it comes to several things. One is putting up with her roommate/student and teaching him what she can. The second is being an advocate for the deaf. She is really good with the community and loves the kids she works with.

She even teaches parents who hear how to sign. It's fun and she has lots of experience. She also has a sort of long distance romance going on with a fellow mutant. She still isn't ready to come out of the closet and introduce herself as one to the world at large.

But she has had time to think about it. She thinks that it would be safer to keep[ it under wraps just for now. People aren't so nice to mutants.

But then sometimes fate has something else in mind for people like Marcia. Like right now.

Prepare yourselves for a night of fun to help a worthy cause. In just a few minutes many very handsome men will be brought out one by one for your chance to win a date with one of them.

Anya walked out on stage and smiled. "Thank you, Ms. Blaire. All of the proceeds from tonight's event will go directly to Doctors Without Borders or Médecins Sans Frontières. "Thank you Miss Stark and that is a very generous offer by the Maria Stark Foundation. Now it's time to begin. So open those wallets and let's bring out our first man." Anya left the stage and went to take her seat.

"First we have the son of Captain America Steve Rogers and Natasha Romanoff. James Romanov-Rogers is currently an Avenger and has recently moved to Seattle to lead the West Coast Avengers."

"Let's start the bidding at a hundred dollars."

Recent months has seen an surge of gang violence gripping New York, beginning with the shooting death of a 15 year-old student from Midtown High. Local Media Mogul Seeks Support For Relief Efforts- Julian Howard, known as the manager behind the mutant reality sensation, X-Factor, has met in recent weeks with a slew of politicians and attended Congressional hearings in Washington D.C. seeking ways to bring more federal aid to the embattled citizens of Fargo, Georgia.

"We are just a few months removed from this tragedy, but we cannot forget its impact or that there are real people still suffering." Howard says.

Mr. Howard has been outspoken in his desire to bridge the divide between humanity and mutantkind in the wake of the tragedy that took the lives of over 3,000 people. USA v. Mutants? - A robbery enacted by a group of mutant criminals two weeks ago was thwarted by a new task force created by the Department of Homeland Security. A unit of the Mutant Response Division, led by Command Master Chief Windham Carter, apprehended the crew of mutant thieves after an hour long stand-off. Eyewitness reports also state that another group of mutants came to the aid of the MRD, but this cannot be confirmed. A Winner is Not You @ 11:45 pm

[info]no_relation:

Jack hurtles his way across town after leaving the hospital. He knows he should still be on patrol, should be hunting down the attackers, but he just can't right now. He can still feel the girl's blood on him. Still smell that disgusting overly antiseptic smell of the hospital. Still remember the look on the doctor's face.

He wants to go home. Whatever's closest to home, anyway.

He slips in the window and goes straight to the bathroom, costume fading into an equally bloodied pair of civilian clothes as he loses what little he had for breakfast.

Mentor and student @ 05:07 pm

[info]needsmorecoffee:

"Hurry up, kid," Marcia barks over her shoulder as she jumps from one close roof top to the next. She was going to run Jack through his paces tonight. She was decked out in black leather from head to toe. The only thing that really stood out was the bright yellow lightning bolt that ran across her chest and the bright yellow mask that hid part of her face.

It was simple but it worked for her. She just wished it wasn't so warm out tonight. Still she had promised the kid they would patrol so this is how they were gonna do it.

"Try and keep up," she crows before diving off of the side of a building and launching herself using the force from a bolt of well placed electricity to send herself soaring though the air. All she had to do was reach and pull herself up onto the next ledge and she started running for the next launch point.

It's a Mom thing to do @ 01:44 pm

[info]needsmorecoffee:

She did care about taking care of people. She did want to one day meet the right guy. Introduce him to her parents of course and maybe if he was the one> Settle down and have some kids with him.

Of course he had to be someone who didn't care about her folks being deaf or the fact she is a mutant. Maybe she won't ever settle down. Maybe she will just continue helping people.

Now she thought about her young friend. The one she kept mothering because he needed it. Just where was he? It was nearly three in the morning. While she had reasons to be up and about he should be in bed sleeping.

Marcia frowns sharply and taps her foot trying not to worry too heavily.

Out For A Swing @ 12:51 am

[info]no_relation:

John "Jack" Smith... well, he was pretty sure that was his name. It was one of the things he know; one of the very few specific things he knew. He could fill out crossword puzzles, he could set a table, he could tie his shoes, he could tell time, he knew what times of day were harder to hail a cab, but nothing specific. There was no personal history in his head.

Of course, right now he was a little more concerned with the fact that he'd just flung someone across a room, pulled a costume from out of nowhere, and now was flying across down on lines he shot out of his arms. Normal people don't do this! Not even amnesiac normal people!

The fact that his instincts are telling him this is supposed to be happening is what freaked him out more than anything else.

He could tell he was supposed to be doing something, but what was it?

And why were all these people yelling 'Hey! Spidey!' at him?

A Night a Finnegan’s(Open) @ 11:43 pm

[info]bornlucky:

So far it had been a slow night the bar of the authentic Irish pub that Casey worked at. If any of his family and friends saw this place they would laugh their arses off but they were paying him extra to work here just because he had a real Irish accent.

He was hoping that the action would pick up here so he could get more tips and there was not much more cleaning and restocking he could do. Still the night was young and business could definitely still pick up.
