When the Stars Fall From the Sky @ 03:02 pm
nextgen_shield:
Agent Gamble noticed a power surge in one satellite and then it was gone. The connection to the satellite was broken and then another satellite had a power surge. A few moments later that one went offline. One by one the SHIELD satellites went offline and the world's big spy agency was blind in the sky. Agent Gamble jumped up and hurried over to Commander Dugan. Ten minutes later Col. Fury ordered his special ops team in for a briefing.

Out In The Olde English Countryside @ 11:38 pm
electrified:
Del sifted through the mound of paperwork on her desk. As the S.H.I.E.L.D. liaison to Scotland Yard it meant she kept her eyes out for stuff that the agency couldn't handle or didn't want to and relaying the stuff that SHIELD was handing off. It also meant a mountain of paperwork that kept her at her desk more than in the field. She missed being out in the field and dealing with bad guys. It was one part of her job that she had loved. When did she get to be a paper pusher? She found the folder she was looking for and opened it. The reports were ordinary enough, but something else in another file had made her wonder and she had to come back to this one to check. There was unusual activity out near Chearsley. Lorries rolling in and out at odd hours of the night and strangers in the small town speaking a few different languages. There was a report of a weird snake symbol seen briefly under the coat of one of the strangers. She could kick this to M-I5, but she had a feeling they wouldn't get to it anytime in the current year. Del knew who she could call to do some recon under the radar. She picked up the phone and made arrangements for a meeting.

S.H.I.E.L.D. Birthdays...celebrate as if it might be your last... @ 06:21 pm
sammyfury:
Licking wounds and feeling good about ass kicking on a mission was one thing. The team needed something else besides combat to draw them in together. Sammy's calendar provided an excuse to cut loose a little. Meet at the Slaughtered Lamb to celebrate Walker's and Tech's birthdays before the month is over. Food and drinks on me. ALL the drinks. C'mon guys, we need the downtime off the boat.

Getting back in the saddle @ 02:06 am
sammyfury:
A file was delivered to Sammy and included handwritten instructions from the head office. She read it over the day's unnumbered cup of coffee, then put out call for a meeting with the remaining team members. Each was requested to be ready to leave immediately. Tech, the newest member, was also included in the meeting call. Whether or not he would be useful on this particular mission was to be seen. He could end up staying on the helicarrier. The rest would go. Hydra had been a very naughty villain group and they were going to get a closer look.

Mothers are the place that we call home. On them we rest our heads and close our eyes. There's no one else who grants the same soft peace, Happiness, contentment, sweet release, Erasing nighttime tears with lullabies, Restoring the bright sun that makes us bloom. - Anonymous

Nick Fury walked out of his office and stopped near his assistant's desk. "Get the team in the ready room in ten minutes." Then he kept walking out of the office.

Show and Tell - Calling Special Ops @ 10:21 pm
sammyfury:
Sammy finished up the details for S.H.I.E.L.D.'s newest special ops team and called the first meeting aboard the helicarrier. This time Dad's office wasn't available or requested so there was no mistaking which Fury was in charge. Col. Fury would hear about the meeting soon enough. He might even show up to give his view on why he created the team. For this meeting, all she wanted was to get the quarters assigned, equipment procured, questions answered and let everyone meet each other and find out why each of them were chosen for this team. Forget that she was a little anxious about it. Being a Fury in S.H.I.E.L.D. meant people watched to see you fail to live up to the Colonel's example. She had to be better just to be considered satisfactory, and temper it with patience and humor so she didn't drive everyone around her insane. If this worked, she would definitely owe Uncle Steve a thank you for showing her how a powered team could be led without climbing a bell tower.

Nick had been tossing the idea around in his brain for some time now and the recent events in New York had brought it back to the front of his mind. It was about time S.H.I.E.L.D. started taking a more active role in dealing with the powered set out there. Nick had gone through some files and had selected a few candidates. Luckily some were already agents. Others he would have to go have a chat with. "Get Sammy in here," he said over the intercom. "And round up agents Childress, Alice Dugan and Walker. I want to see them as well."
