Resting inside, for once
Between all the problems around the holidays, Lucas finally more or less ran himself ragged. Moira and her family have been wonderful at helping since the solstice, and he's put most of the weight he lost back on and he's been sleeping less, but still trying to take it easy.

And, of course, now the world is entering a World Cup year, which means the soccer is especially interesting, even if its not his main sport. At the moment, he's found himself a comfortable spot on the couch and a game on satellite, which he's watching with intent interest.

Moira comes in, slinks over to the couch, presses a glass of orange juice into Lucas's right hand, and curls up at his left side.

"Have the Huns scored yet?"

He snuggles up to her, putting his free arm over her shoulders. "No, nil-nil twenty minutes in."
He blinks. "Wait, you follow soccer?"

"Och, no, but the Rangers represent the forces of insular bigotry and need to be chastened," she says, now watching intently herself.

He grins a little at that. "I'm guessing your grandmother is a Celtic fan, then?"

"Aye. I dinna think she cares much about football itself, but, well, ye ken."
It's never just about football. "We've had it explained a lot of Christmastimes how dreadful it is when the Huns win again."

"Hm, I knew there was a major rivalry, and some problems. But I don't follow soccer that closely. It wasn't a big sport in Colorado the way football, baseball and hockey are. At the very least, it makes me easy to persuade to cheer for your team."

She smiles. "Well, much as I'm working on baseball, I dinna know a thing about hockey or the football-that-isn't-football."

"Well, that's good. 'Twould be vexing to have the perfect boyfriend and then find him supporting the enemy." She nuzzles against him a little.

He ruffles her hair playfully. "I'm not the perfect boyfriend." he insists. "But I'm glad I'm good enough. As for the other sports... well, being Scottish and all, the football versus football arguement is valid. But I'm going to have to teach you about hockey."

A general contented noise against him turns into a bit of a growl at the events of a game. "I dinna understand free kicks. They're assigned over the silliest things. I'd be embarrassed to take one; seems too much like being treated like pu -- like kids who can't keep up. But I guess I wouldn't probably have the best way of keeping order in these things either."

"I'll do my best to understand it. It's the one where they're armed, right?"

He grins at the mention of armaments. "Yes, sort of, though they're not supposed to use their sticks as weapons. They're meant for handling and passing the puck. It might be easier to show you some of it than explain. Can you ice skate?"

"Ok, ok, I understand, when I'm better. It'll take me a while to carve sticks anyway. But I do have ice skates."

"Och, that's sweet." And she'll just cuddle. "And it's good that you're making things easy for yourself and not waiting until I have backup." Danielle would be coming inside fairly soon. Moira wasn't sure what the lake's opinion was of Auld Lang Syne and a few old lays, but her sister's borrowed voice was beautiful.

"You're sweet. You, your sister and the rest have been taking such good care of me. Keep this up I'm going to get lazy." he replies with a wink.
"I haven't had a lot of chance to look in on her. How's your sister doing, anyway?"

"If it's possible to make you lazy, I'll be impressed with myself."

Moira beams. "She's doing well. She was very good about resting up, and now she's...it's been a while since I've seen her this happy." Moira's arms clutch at him a little tighter.

He hugs her back. "I'm glad to hear it. I've heard her a couple times down by the lake. It seems like she's taken to singing well. I'm really glad I could help, even if its not her body. I'm sure your grandmother will work it out in time."

"Now that she has hands, I've been meaning to ask - I know she wants to become a healer. She can already prove she has the favor of one spirit. I'm tempted to offer to begin teaching her, at least enough to be able to assist me and see if she has the gift. But I keep hesitating. There is a degree of my religion, obviously, in what I do. I'm not trying to convert your sister or anything, but to teach her, there's obviously some belief and spirituality involved. I wasn't sure what her, or your family would think of that. Any advice?"

Moira nods a little to the first part. "She's got a good start, already, learning things from Hogun and Granny, but...she might like helping with your approach. Spiritually, it's...well.. different, but it's not like it's Presbyterian fundamentalism." Da definitely wouldn't be okay with that, he'd rather see Mummy checking out another man than going near a church, since he immediately associated it with Mummy's father. But when it came to Lucas's... well, they were all very grateful for what had already happened.

"I know she does, she's very smart, and motivated. I'll see what she thinks then, and how comfortable she'd be with the idea. If we get into any more massed battles, I'm going to need some help. And yes, it is different. There's some similarities with Asgardian theology, but they're not the same, and I don't ever want to let that come between us."
Because he loves her dearly, but his first duty as shaman will always have to be to his people.
