X-Men
Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Claus. He exists as certainly as love and generosity and devotion exist, and you know that they abound and give to your life its highest beauty and joy.

Christmas Day is a Christian holiday, it's true, but it also has become increasingly secular. It is an opportunity for love, charity, and goodwill.

There is some debate within mystical circles if there is indeed such a creature as the embodiment of Christmas Giving known as Santa Claus. But whether or not there is such a being, the spirit of giving itself is very real, be it incarnated in a fat man in a red suit or not.

Throughout this small blue planet of Earth, people have brought trees into their homes, decorated them with lights and ornaments, and placed them in locations of honor. Stockings have been placed on the chimneys. And gifts have been placed under the tree.

Some are looking forward more to the receiving than the giving. But for many, it is the act of giving which warms them, which fills them with the holiday spirit.

Each person, in their own way, becomes a part of this spirit of giving. Each person, in their own way, becomes Santa Claus.

1407 Graymalkin Lane is well decorated, and snow covers the grounds. A massive tree stands in the mansion's living room, and ribbons or pine line stairwells or the walls. As for the X-Men themselves...

"You're teasing me, right?" He kissed her again and let her go to do as she asked. "Patience is not one of my excellent traits."

"Of course," she said after they kissed again. She turned to pull a batch of gingerbread cookies out of the oven. "Since you're being so good and helping me out..." She placed a couple of cookies on a small plate in front of him, "You get a sneak preview."

He immediately bit the head off one hot cookie, sighing in pleasure at the delicious gingerbread flavor. "I think I love you."

He began putting cookies on the cookie sheet for her. "Your parents coming for Christmas?"

"Only think?" She asked with a teasing smirk, as she began to put some of the baked goods into little baskets.

"They'll be here tomorrow. Gives you plenty of time to hide from Dad."

"I think I'm expected at Mom's tomorrow. It could just save my butt from being tossed off the roof." He grinned. "Unless he's laughing about the gossip columns. Then I'll stick around and say hi."

"He didn't hit the roof as hard as I thought he would, surprisingly." She smirked, "I have to admit I'm a little bummed out. I was looking forward to the honeymoon while we waited for him to cool off."

"What was it that worried him the most, being related to Dad until death did us part or the Romanov-Stark family?"

He put the pan into the oven and checked the temperature. "Shame about the honeymoon, but I think we should gather up a bunch and go spend a long weekend on a warm beach."

"I think the thought of being related to Logan nearly sent him into cardiac arrest." She grabbed two spoons out of a nearby drawer and handed him one before sticking her own into the mixing bowl and scrapping the sides. "Hmm...that sounds like a pretty good plan. I bought a blue bikini that I never really did get much use out of last summer."

"Clothing optional?" he joked. He took the spoon and waited for her to scrap the sides before exchange it with his spoon.

"Depends where we go," she said, taking her spoon out of the bowl and licking it. "Nudity's illegal in some countries."

"I hate it when you call my bluff," he grumbled. Those were headlines he didn't need to see. He scraped the bowl and licked his own spoon. "Your mother would kill me."

"At least it would be worth it." He winked at her. "So, good idea? We get Joe, couple of the others, take off for the Bahamas or something for a long weekend of sun, booze and dancing on the beach."

"An excellent idea," she said, returning the wink, "Though we might want to come up with a cover story. Training mission in the mountains or something. I don't think some of the staff would approve of us corrupting our teammates with our bad behavior."

"Then we're training on salt water maneuvers, with a tequila chaser." He scooped out more cookie dough. "Besides, we're considered very responsible people."

"For you delicate types. Me and Joe don't need it." As delicious as it was, he needed milk. He got the carton out and poured some. "It's a date. Dig out your bikini, Feathers, so I can practice drooling. We'll see who else is game."

"Hey. I can hold my liquor just fine, thank you very much." She said, grabbing a glass of her own and pouring some milk for herself. "I'll do some digging then, just for you. I'm quite fond of it, myself."
